Oh. Right. The talk.

You've arrived via time travel to a city made up almost completely by magic. Your timeline is safe as is, because you're both home and here at the same time. What makes this wholly different from home, aside from everyone being a different age than you remember them being, is that it's multi-dimensional, too. There are lots of alternate worlds that people have been pulled from, and in some cases you'll have multiple versions of the same people. It's better explained here.
