ski lodge world

overview.

At the end of the countdown, all the Taken will find themselves back inside the compound, and the compound is on the top of a snow-covered mountain. All around them are spectacular alpine views and snow covered slopes that look as if they were perfectly designed to be carved by skis or snowboards. And that is, in fact, what the non-Taken around them are doing. There are two easy "bunny" slopes, five medium-difficulty slopes, and three difficult slopes, marked respectively with green circles, blue squares, and black diamonds. Once they've found their way down, they can get back up to ski or return to the compound by way of the chair lifts.

At the bottom of the hill is a spectacular ski lodge, with a cafeteria, lounge, and bar for anyone who wants to have meals or drinks off-compound; for those looking to have a truly authentic ski vacation, the lodge staff are more than willing to make rooms and suites available to the Taken. Don't worry about crowds or long lines, it's not too busy-- and don't worry about the ridiculously high resort prices either, because food and lodging is, apparently free. So are the ski and snowboard lessons offered every morning. Spend the day out in the snow, either on the slopes or on the coniferous tree-lined trails that surround the lodge, then go inside and warm up with a huge mug of cocoa topped with whipped cream. When the day's over, relax by taking full advantage of the crackling fireplaces, comfy beds, and hot tubs available in every room in the lodge.

Dr. Upsilon is back, and has a medical station set up outside the lodge with emergency ski patrol. But hopefully there won't be any disasters, right? It's time for a winter vacation, ski-lodge style.

A map of the resort with marked slopes and trails has been provided in the front of every Taken's journal, and they have their choice of transport in the snow: skis, snowboards, snowshoes, and cross-country skis. They also receive the following, from their individual scientist:

ε Epsilon: Male Taken will receive this while female receive this. All Taken recieve gloves in either this shade or this shade. They will find appropriate boots for all activities in their closets. They will find a copy of White Fang, The Call of the Wild, and Burning Daylight. Additionally, they will be given hand warmers, gray cocoa mugs with the Epsilon letter on them, and different flavors of hot cocoa mixes (Epsilon suggests the chocolate banana). ALSO: EPSILON BLOCK IS CLOSED FOR RENOVATIONS UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Cots will be provided, or Taken can stay in the lodge until their block is available again.
γ Gamma: Gamma Taken will find their wardrobes full of cold/water-resistant ski apparel in black and red.
ο Omicron: Each Omicron will find a ski suit in their size hanging in their wardrobes. There is also a collection of thick sweaters, mittens, hats, and scarves in varying shades of blue, boots, jeans, and snuggies neatly folded on the shelves. The hot chocolate station is back in the commons and each Taken is given a thermos with an Omicron on one side and their initials on the other that never seems to get cold no matter how long it sits out in the cold. They also receive a miniature first aid kit and a waterproof case for their camera that is now charmed to withstand your tumble down the bunny slope!
π Pi(e): pie Taken get an orange snowboarding suit and a snowboard. They will also find skis and accessories in their rooms (whether they choose the compound or the ski lodge). Merrell Gaunt will find that he now has a waterproof walkman with books-on-tape, specifically history books on Lady Voldemort. Abigail Potter will find that she has an endless supply of warm apple cider. Erin and Niall Finnigan will both find that, no matter how awful they ski or snowboard, they will never feel pain or get wounded if they fall.
τ Tau: Taus get skintight racing suits (like this in deep purple) that are charmed to maintain a comfortably warm temperature, regardless of whether they are inside or outside (or whether they pile clothes on top of it, or work up a sweat). They also receive ski goggles, gloves, hats, and boots appropriate for snow, all in a purple so dark it is nearly black. RJ Lupin, Jayne Lupin, & Arayna Lestrange get self-refilling mugs full of cocoa; Dora Lupin gets one with hot cider.
ζ Zeta: All Zeta taken will recieve state of the art maroon and gold ski suits, and a wardrobe full of snow-appropriate clothing, as well as a lot of faux fur coats and hats. They'll find an ample supply of hot chocolate and mulled wine in their living quarters.
