Despite all of the excitement and upset of the night before, Jayne had settled much more since then. Being like the Doctor and River was comforting to her...even if she was really supposed to be like Jayne Cobb, but Jayne Cobb wouldn't cry if he turned up somewhere he didn't know. He wouldn't be scared either. He'd probably break a lot of stuff but even when she'd accidentally knocked over the lamp earlier, it hadn't broken so she didn't think that was going to happen. Plus, Aunt Mini wouldn't have been very happy if she'd broken things. Cindy seemed more than happy to colour and think about clothes.

That was the only thing Jayne didn't like, someone else in her brain. She'd put her tinfoil hat on and yet Cindy kept talking and trying to get her to do things. "The aliens are in my brain, Aunt Mini," she said quietly, going to sit on her aunt's lap and curling up a little, mindful not to squash her tinfoil hat. She didn't know how to get Cindy out of her head, but it was probably going to take more than tinfoil to keep her out...which meant she'd need to consult Dora and RJ and maybe Aunt Mini to see if they knew any ways to keep aliens (or other people's personalities, as it were) out of her head.

"She says her name is Cindy but my name is Jayne and no one named Cindy should be inside my head and trying to control what I'm doing. Daddy even said that it's against the laws to control people. You can go to...the giant prison in the middle of the ocean for it."

Paula Robinson was very happy with her life; she had four beautiful children, her husband always color-coordinated with her, and her photographs were always featured in the newspaper. All of the kids thought she was too cool for school, and why it puzzled her that her children didn't like bringing their friends home when she wasn't at work, she certainly loved when her sons brought their cheerleader friends over. While her husband wasn't shabby in the least, he was starting to age a bit and there was nothing wrong with praise and tight tushies, right?

However, Mini was having a hard time separating herself from Mrs. Robinson. There were a fair amount of similarities between them, but Paula didn't feel her heart ache for her sister every time she looked at her youngest daughter. It wasn't fair that the three babies had arrived so soon after Teddy and Vic had left, and it was even less fair to them that she didn't know them from where she was from. She set her magazine aside as Cindy - no, Jayne - crawled over to her and opened her arms to her tiny niece.

"Je suis desolee, ma cherie," Mini hummed, wrapping her arms around the girl and pressing a bisous on her temple, careful not to disrupt the tinfoil creation on her head. "It is against the law, but I don't think Cindy's doing it on purpose. Things are whipsydipsy here, and you don't have to listen to her. And besides, Jayne is a much prettier name."

Cindy loved her maman. Though, Cindy called her Mom instead. Jayne, however, knew that her aunt Mini was Aunt Mini and not her maman. It was still nice to hear the familiar sound of French. "Je t'aime, ma tante Mini," she said quietly, letting a finger curl around a strand of her aunt's hair.

There was a small smile on her face as she let herself relax. As little as her aunt was her maman, she was happy to have someone familiar (even if she was younger). Familiar was better than entirely unfamiliar. Even though her maman-daddy and daddy-maman were different, they were also familiar. Dora and RJ were the only two that knew that she was real, though.

"That's what I said, but Cindy doesn't really like it. She just wants to have pictures taken all the time and make friends and stuff." Which wasn't all bad. It was just not what she wanted to do. She wanted to have nerdy Sundays and dress up in costume. Though, if she really thought about it, she was in costume. There was just nothing really nerdy about it.

"Et je t'aime aussi, ma petite princesse," both Mini and Paula hummed as they gathered the young girl closer as she felt Jayne relax against her. She herself had been lucky when she had arrived here: both her Victoire and Teddy had been here to welcome her, and they knew who she was. They might not have been from her time, but they both had grown up with her and knew enough about who she was that it didn't matter. The children, however, didn't have that luxury. Both Andromeda and herself came from times before theirs - Andromeda even came from a time before Mini was around - and that could be unsettling for a child who was both around people they knew and didn't at the same time.

"I'd want to take your picture all the time," Mini laughed, ruffling the girl's long hair. "What do you want to do, ma petite? There might be some things somewhere in this house that we can get into and have some fun with if you want to play."

"All the time?" A part of Cindy perked up, chattering on and on about how she should take that time to take all the pictures. She just really wanted pictures. "I miss nerdy Sundays," she said quietly. "We used to watch movies: Maman, Daddy, Dora, RJ, and I. And we would dress up in costumes and have snacks. It was the best!"

Just thinking about it made her cheer up a little. "But now I don't have anything in colour...and I guess this is sort of like dressing up in costume, but we don't have the same movies cause of the wibbly wobbly time." She scrunched up her face. "And sometimes Dora would make her face all funny cause she is like Daddy and she can change her face and her hair. RJ can, too! I tried to do it, but I can't make my face go like Daddy's." There was a little part of her that was worried about that...but she tried not to think about it.

"Maybe we can go to the movie and pretend we are in costume...even if it's not a nerdy movie."

"Tous the time," Mini agreed, smiling and reaching up to tap Jayne on the nose as Paula's sharp eye started to survey her daughter, looking for the different angles she could capture her daughter in. She caught the way the sun streamed through the window, pouring down her daughter's cheeks and highlighting the tips of her lashes. Deep down, a part of Mini squeezed in jealousy before a small wave of guilt washed over her. She hated Paula and Victoire both in that moment for feeling that way and not being there to help her sort through the feelings that swirled through her.

"But we're in costumes now, oui?" Mini saked, plucking at her blouse. It wasn't something she'd pick - the fabric was a bit scratchy - but it did highlight her generous assets wonderfully. "Certainly. Perhaps there'll be some type of movie that strikes your fancy. And," she said giving her a squeeze around the middle, "sometime's it's good to be like your maman. We're a pretty cool side of the family. I mean, who else looks as good as us in costumes?"

Jayne's nose scrunched up as her maman-aunt tapped her on the nose. If her aunt was having any issues, Jayne was unaware. It was harder to know when someone was upset when she didn't have a specific colour to go off of. She knew when Dora and RJ were upset, but Dora had specific colours and RJ had different tells. Aunt Mini didn't look very sad...so Jayne was unaware of any of it.

"Uh huh! Cause I don't think we'd wear dresses like this at home. Specially not Dora. She doesn't really like dresses that much. But I like dresses like Kaylee's. She has ALL THE RUFFLES!" Cindy didn't really like ruffles that much, but Cindy wasn't Jayne. She let out a small noise when her aunt squeezed her. "I love Maman. I have Daddy's hair and Maman's...non changey skills." She giggled a little. "NOT RJ!"

"She doesn't like dresses?" Mini gasped as Paul squawked in outrage. Young ladies were supposed to wear skirts and dresses - but very well tailored to remind the menfolk about what they were missing out on, of course. "We'll have to make you some ruffles. A girl has to have material to flounce with!"

She shifted slightly underneath the girl's comforting weight as Jayne let out a noise, worried that she was hurting the girl. "You also have your mother's quirks, I bet. She's my seester and biffle back home, so that means I love you ten bajillionty chocolate frogs already. Certainly not RJ and Daddy. We can pull it off muuuch better."

"Sometimes she wears dresses but she likes to wear pants more!" Jayne didn't think it was a problem...even if Cindy thought it was. "REALLY?" And suddenly Jayne was excited. "I like ruffles! LOTS OF RUFFLES!" Because those were the best kinds. Especially pink dresses or purple dresses or blue. She wasn't sure which colour she liked best.

Jayne blinked a few times. "What quirks? Maman does lots of things, but I'm not sure what counts as being quirks." There was a nod. "YOU LOVE US ALL THE AMOUNTS! You and Uncle Richard." There was a pause and her eyes widened a little as she remembered she might not know about her uncle yet. "Do you know him yet?"

Even though being at the compound forced her to wear long pants, she was the first to admit that they weren't made for her; her legs were far too short and curvy to pull them off. She had to get a bigger size to accomodate her hips, and the excess material floating around her calves was not sexy. She was too shapely to properly rock the skinny jeans like her sister could, but if she tucked them into a nice pair of boots then she didn't look half bad. No, skirts and dresses - preferably those that hugged her body in the proper way - were the way to go for her. However, perhaps it was a good idea that her young nieces liked pants; boys did not need to be looking at the babies.

"Vraiment," Mini promised, already trying to figure out where she'd get the material. There were a few drapes upstairs that were hideous and were already frilly enough to become suitable ruffles for Jayne. A few twists of her wand would cure that! "Wellllllll," Mini hummed, tapping a finger against her chin. "Your maman calls me lots of silly names, and I heard you call RJ one earlier. And she taught me how to put eyeliner on so I could change my face. Plus, she is the most super prettiest person in costume, just like you." Her smile froze halfway to her face when she heard the name of the man she was to eventually marry. "Non, ma petite. I - uh-" No one ever covered how to break it to your niece that you were young, free, and flirty. "I haven't met him yet."

Despite the fact that Jayne barely noticed boys as boys, she'd had a couple "boyfriends" which were really just boys who liked the same things she liked...so really, they were only friends. She wasn't concerned with kissing or any other part of "dating". No. It really didn't matter. They just had a title because a couple of the other girls had done it and it seemed like something important.

"LOUISPOEY! Only that's Uncle Louis." Jayne giggled a little. "Dora calls RJ lots of names, though. Like Rancid Jackbutt..." Which wasn't what she'd wanted to say but cursing had been strange. "I like Radical Jaguar." She wondered if RJ liked that one. "Maman looks AWESOME in costumes." The expression on her aunt's face was enough to tell her she'd told a secret...which meant she didn't know about any of their cousins either. "Oh." She scrunched up her nose briefly. "Well, he's really nice," she said quietly, fidgeting with her sweater.
