Who: SiriusKnap and RemusKnap
What: Working on Sirius' memory
When: Aug. 12, after Sirius' match
Where: Stands
Warnings: Angst?

Sirius' eye was throbbing. He was pretty certain that he was going to have one hell of a black eye fairly certain. He couldn't say that was any easy fight -- but then, Sirius had never really been one to enjoy easy fights. He enjoyed challenges and he enjoyed adrenaline rushes and that was the truth of the matter when it came down to it.

He was also glad because the difficulty of the fight had distracted him from the fact that the Remus from his world was waiting for him when he was done fighting a Remus from some other world. He had no idea which one, although this Remus did have a rather impressive array of tattoos.

In any case, he was feeling rather sore when he finished up the fight, and was trying to concentrate on all of that as he headed up into the stands to meet with Remus. He hadn't known exactly what to expect. He didn't even know how old he was. He just knew that he was young enough to not have had his daughter, but old enough that Sirius was gone in his time. A huge window.

His steps grew a little tentative when he grew closer, which he couldn't help but mentally mock, because he didn't know since when Sirius Black had ever done anything tentatively.

"Remus," he said finally, as he took a seat.

"I am a fan of overstatements," he responded back, which was true in some ways. He had been known to use them, frequently, during his pursuits in his middle years. They felt as if they were so long ago, when truly, they were not. That behavior had been continued with Nymphadora, for a brief period of time, before arriving in the compound. Back in his beginning travels through time and absurdity. "Good on him," he then chuckled, shifting a bit to make room on the bench for Sirius.

Not that he needed to, for it was a stadium, and essentially empty. Still, he did it anyway.

"Today has been a good day," he responded with honesty. "My kid kicked my ass. I've never been prouder." That wasn't true. He was proud all the time of Harry and he was a fan of the statement. It was a common one. "And you?"

Sirius sat down next to Remus. It was these moments, he thought were always the strangest. This between him and Remus and James, were they all tried to act as if they were what they had once been. It was both much easier and much harder than Sirius thought it would be. Easier, he thought, because there was something implicit to it. And harder, because Sirius chafed under the strain of so many emotions.

He knew that Remus was referring to Harry, but he didn't say anything in return. He still hadn't met Lily and James' child. Still found the prospect of him strange, and the notion that he couldn't remember him shameful. He had written to him on his birthday, and when he had received no answer, Sirius had decided that it wasn't best to press it for the time being.

"Just another day in our freaky compound world," Sirius answered, and he even managed to smile as he did so.

"Compound home," he found himself altering, nearly without pause, and with his eyes straight ahead to keep from looking to Sirius. He had begun to view this as home and it had happened long ago. Even with Teddy now absent, he couldn't deny, the feeling still remained. All of his family was present, in some way, and he had more happiness then he did in 1998.

He wasn't leaping to return.

"You think you've got a good chance of grabbing the prize at the end?" He decided to ask. He didn't necessarily care about winning or if Sirius felt he could. He just needed to fill the silence. And to keep his gaze away from the man.

He hadn't realized just how much his chest would ache when he saw him. Perhaps he would have known if he had allowed it to happen sooner. Then again...it was precisely this fear of how he would feel in his presence that kept him away.

He didn't want to feel anything. Even if he knew that wasn't going to occur.

Some part of Sirius wanted to ask why Remus had tacked on the word 'home.' He understood why there might be some connection to this place -- because, in the end, if they returned without memories, he and Lily went right back to where they were, and James and Remus didn't know where they were or if they were okay. But Sirius thought it was a far cry from a home. Or at the least, the notion of home that Sirius had kind of always hoped for, but hadn't quite achieved.

He didn't press it for the time being.

"Don't really care," Sirius said with an idle shrug. He had only done this because he knew there was some reward to play along with the scientists. When it didn't please him any longer, he wouldn't. He had no qualms about messing around with a James or a Remus he didn't know for some time. He knew Lily was still in the standings, and he suspected he already knew what he would do if he came up against her.

"Remus," Sirius said finally, his voice a bit sharper than he had intended it, but he couldn't stand the way that Remus wasn't looking at him. He didn't know which was worse -- the way that James could never look at anything but him, or the way that Remus was refusing to look at him. If Remus didn't want to see him, fine. But why pretend then?
