Who: Lily & Harryknap
What: Teaching Harry some Krav Maga
When: Wednesday, 8 August; Afternoon (Backdated)
Where: Um...that one place where they practice things like boxing? lolol
Warnings: Likely none!

This world was fun to Lily. Of course, she had lots of reasons to be happy and a lot of those reasons had to do with James and the fact that she had both of her sons here now. But as much as she loved James and wanted to make up for the things they missed, she wanted to spend time with her boys, too, and Harry especially because he hadn't had her growing up. He hadn't gotten to know her until he was an adult. She needed to find more time with Sirius, too, because she was starting to miss him immensely. Whatever the state of their 'marriage' had been, she'd had six years to get used to spending practically every day with her best friend and now there was this sort of divide between them that kept them from seeing each other as much as they used to.

For now, though, she was spending the afternoon with Harry. Even better, she was going to be able to share something with him from her life, something that made them a step closer to bridging the disconnect between her life and his. She wanted that desperately, really, to make it feel like their lives fit seamlessly together. One day, they really would.

"Alright, so for this one, you're going to cross your left leg over your right, twist your hips just slightly as you're shifting your weight onto your right leg like this—" she demonstrated— "and then kick out with your left heel." She showed him the move— it was a simple one, not really specific to Krav Maga, but it was one of the first things she'd learned from the Israeli man who'd offered to teach her infallible self defense. There hadn't been official classes the way she'd told Sirius there were. She'd met the man at the coffee shop where she'd ended up working. He'd seen the wounds on her face, the bandages on her arms—it hadn't been long after that Halloween, maybe a week or two. He'd told her he knew martial arts and would teach her. Somehow she'd managed to convince herself that she would be alright going to some stranger's basement (he couldn't have been more dangerous than James and Remus, she'd thought). Turned out, she wasn't the only one who'd been invited. When she'd arrived a few nights after meeting the man, she found that the small unofficial class consisted of four other women, all looking like they'd been victimized in some way, too.

In some ways, that class had been her healing, or something akin to such. She still had never told anyone exactly where she'd been learning self-defense or who the people were she'd been learning with. She'd kept it to herself, something that was just hers that no one could take from her. She hadn't thought Sirius would have liked the idea of her going to some stranger's basement, anyway, even if she wasn't alone.

Looking back at Harry, she raised her eyebrow in question, "Are these moves too easy? When I first started, I knew nothing, really, so I had to learn basics. I know you box but since you won't spar with me, I don't really know where else to start." She smiled— James had raised such a gentleman. He was perfect, really. Perfectly imperfect and wonderful.

Lily had to laugh and feign hurt. Normally, she was overly sensitive to anyone being unwilling to match against her because of her size or gender because she didn't like feeling as though her ability to defend herself against attacks. That wasn't what Harry was insinuating, though, or at least that wasn't the impression she was getting. "Oi now, maybe you didn't inherit my shortness, but I have eighteen years of not being able to threaten you with turning you over my knee to make up for starting....now," she challenged and, within a split second had turn the hug into her behind him, pinning his arms behind him as her knee came up and rested against the back of his knee without actually making any move to ground him.

"What was that about not being able to reach you?" she asked, an amused grin in her voice. "Some mothers make their babies sit in a corner for discipline," she mused. It was fun, though, because she enjoyed being able to spend this time with her son, teaching him things she knew and being able to laugh with him. In some ways, she was grateful to this place for that reason.

Everything he said was in jest and certainly not intended to harm her pride. Harry had her spirit and he recognized it easily. A fighter, not willing to take no for an answer and can back up their bullshit with a fist or two. He knew he couldn't have only inherited her eyes, but her spirit and some personality as well. It took only seconds for Harry's laughter to be silenced somewhat once she had him pinned. "Oi!" He couldn't help but to laugh more. His own mother was attempting to kick his arse and he wouldn't bet money to say she couldn't.

"Oh...the corner huh?" Harry tilted his head back and rolled his eyes jokingly. "That never worked for dad, it certainly won't work for you." Harry stuck out his tongue and laughed. He tried wriggling his hands around to break her hold but feeling the pressure against the back of his knees, Harry knew he'd be on the floor faster than he thought. "Hmph." He stopped trying to break his hold, his broad shoulders slumping downwards.

If force or strength wasn't going to win this one, perhaps pouting would.
