Roger Davies & Melinda Bobbin

Melinda leaned into Oliver and almost burst out in a laugh and applause when Roger cheesed it up on the podium, being every bit the Roger she knew him to be. She had an idea of how he had to have felt seeing Marcus won by a witch he at least seemed on friendly terms with; she was somewhat dreading to see that happen to Oliver, though she knew that with the amount of tickets she had bought for him – not to mention the undisclosed amount he had bought in her name – she stood a very fair chance at being the one to get that date with him. It was charity, she reminded herself, and maybe the publicity of it would do away with the remainder of the rumours should it not be her. Oh, but she hoped that whoever won him would respect that non-romance clause. At least for Oliver’s sake, because she trusted Oliver imlicitly.

It took her a moment from she heard her name announced, until she realised that she had just won the date with Roger, and as if on cue, she burst out laughing right along with Roger. Pressing a quick kiss to Oliver’s lips, hoping that he knew just how platonic things with her and Roger were, she straightened her dress and made her way to the podium, holding out her hands for Roger to help her up. “It had to be you,” she grinned up at him and greeted him with a kiss on the cheek as flashes from the photographers went off. “Now, where are we going?”

Roger was still laughing slightly as Melinda walked up to the stage. "Of course it had to me," he replied with a wink across at Oliver. "At least now Ollie can rest easy knowing that the bloke who more or less doesn't book it with girls is taking his girlfriend on a friend date," he said, as she kissed him on the cheek. "Let's see shall we," he asked, drawing a piece of paper from the bowl and handing it to Melinda.

“There is that,” Melinda agreed, and blew a kiss at Oliver, before she looked back to Roger. From what she knew of Oliver, he wasn’t scared to get physical or cuddly with most people, and from what she had hears, Roger was one of those people, so she couldn’t imagine him having all that many hang-ups about her going out with Roger like this. “Let’s see, shall we,” she murmured as she unfolded the parchment and Alicia set the bowl of dates away again.

“We are,” she started slowly until the words on the parchment caught up with her, and she laughed again as she handed the paper to Roger. “… making chocolates with Pierre Suchard and going to a champagne bar, courtesy of Sweet Nothings.” Of all the possible combinations of people and dates, she couldn’t help but love the fact that she had won one of her best friends and was going on the date she herself had thought up because she thought it sounded like fun.
