She had foregone dress robes for something brighter, but looking at the crowd inside Finnigan's, Millicent wondered if she was actually overdressed. She stroked an earring reflectively as she turned away from the bar once she'd ordered a Bellini, then the top of her sleek bob, looking about to see if she knew anyone immediately around her.

It took a moment of searching through the sea of faces, but she thought maybe she could see... Yes. Lifting her hand, careful not to whack someone upside the head, she waved carefully to Blaise, thinking it was much nicer to win a "date" with someone she knew. She wondered who else had bid on him, and if he'd be all right with the winner being her. It had looked like some of the winners had been bidding on friends, though...so maybe she wasn't too out of place.

"You look terrific!" She smiled brightly as he picked his way closer to her, and gestured to the glass in his hand. "What are you drinking?"

While he'd stood by awaiting the announcements of the raffle winners Blaise took in the sights and wondered who had bid on him. As he did so he couldn't help but notice that Millicent had foregone the blues and greens he tended to see her in. The golden hued dress made it that much easier to find her after all the announcements had been made.

"It would have been poor form to wear house elf rags," he flashed her a smile. "Besides, Alicia wouldn't have appreciated it if I'd showed up looking anything other than my best. You on the other hand," he reached down and took her hand and raised it up so he could get a good look at her, "are a much better prize than I this evening." He then turned his head and took a drink from the glass in his other hand. "It seems to be a red wine of some sort." Blaise shrugged he wasn't one to usually drink anything lighter than whiskey.

"As if you would turn out in anything but your best," she teased, letting him admire the dress that'd given her more than a few doubts (too much décolletage, too fitted, not a colour she usually wore) while she stood in front of her mirror. But several people had complimented her when she'd arrived, and Blaise's comment was utterly warming. Maybe she'd have to ask Jane or Pansy for some help on expanding her wardrobe, colour-wise.

She lifted her other hand, showing him her own glass. "I admit to being surprised at not seeing any champagne, but I suppose we can make do with wine." Her palate didn't care for red, she found, so she'd taken a glass of Riesling while the results had been read. "So tell me, dear: how do you feel about Crockfords?" Millicent sipped delicately at her wine. "Have you been?"

Blaise didn't own anything that wasn't the best. In fact he was so fastidious with his look that when a garment got to the point where it could no longer effectively hold a charm to keep it looking new he replaced it post haste. "I simply hold myself in high enough regard to ensure I'm always presentable." He could think of a few that made him cringe whenever he crossed paths with them.

He had heard of Crockfords. In fact, one of his step-fathers had been a member. Not that Blaise had ever been into the club. "Mother had a husband who was a member. I don't really know much but I doubt it is that magnificent considering it caters to Muggles as well.” Blaise accepted Muggleborns and understood their pull to that side of their world. Still, he didn’t quite understand the pull of most things Muggle.

"I didn't know that," she said after another sip of wine. The press of people made her feel a bit warm, and her Riesling was still cool -- though she'd have to pace herself, since she'd only eaten lightly since arriving. "About her husband, I mean." It didn't surprise her: Blaise kept much about his home-life away from curious eyes. But it was still intriguing. "I may have to go shopping, considering its clientèle," she mused. "I won't be able to wear my dress robes, after all."

"Did you have an idea of when you'd like to go?" Millicent stepped out of the way of a couple heading for the bar, and turned back to Blaise again. "Are you going away for work this weekend?"

Blaise watched Millicent as she took in the tidbit of himself that he'd just dropped. It wasn't that he thought things necessarily needed to be hidden from others, he simply didn't feel sharing minute details was a worthy way to spend his time. "Does this mean I'll need to focus on a more basic tie?" Most of his ties were somehow linked to the wizarding world. He had a few with moving bits and didn't think he could come up with a convincing lie for his Hogwart's crest if that was the one he chose to wear.

"I'll have to wait to see exactly how my assignments for the week turn out." He was fairly sure he was traveling again that weekend. He didn't know exactly when he would need to visit with the club meaning that his availability to make the date happen was still to be seen.
