Haz? Ernie was momentarily confused. "Wait a minute, Harry's your wingman? I thought you were talking about Pod." He shook his head as if to clear the confusion away. "Oh, Harry's been a mate for ages now, that's all. Plus, we're stuck going to a museum - it'll be all we can do to stay awake all day."

Ernie was happy to follow, smoothly slipping his hands to where they needed to be. Growing up, he'd been taught how to lead first but had welcomed the chance to learn to follow - he could now do both quite well. Plus, he remembered his dance instructor had been very easy on the eyes. Kind of like Roger, in fact. "Not bad," Ernie replied, smiling. "Made a lot of bids and won, donated a lot of money to a good cause, and now I get to dance with a handsome quidditch player. What more could a bloke ask for? And you? You were won by the girl the papers said was dating Wood, right?"

"Of course Harry's my wingman! Not that's he's ever fulfilled any wingman duties you understand," Roger said with a huge smirk. "Maybe you'll just have to make your own fun," he suggested archly. "Snogging in hidden alcoves, handjobs in sneaky places, that sort of thing?"

"Yeah, it is great to see how much money Alicia raised tonight. I'm well chuffed for her," he said, automatically leading Ernie through the steps. "Well the handsome Quidditch player is a bit sad because the man he actually wanted to go on a date with got bought, by a girl. But other than that he's fairly good and had a great day," he said, pausing to frown slightly. "I have no idea why I sunk into the third person then, that was a bit weird. Anyway, yes I'm off to make chocolate with Mellie. It'll be amazing, we'll gossip about boys and have a tonne of fun and the paper's will no doubt have a field day and then I'll sic Pansy on them and people may die."

He rolled his eyes. "While Harry's a very fit bloke, he's my mate. Plus, I didn't figure he was into blokes, what with Ginny and all. I like to flirt, but I don't like to pressure people."

Ernie laughed at Roger's third-person talk. "Well, as long as nobody dies on my shift, I'm good. If anyone asks, I'll plead ignorance - I know nothing." He didn't want to be intrusive, but he was still curious about who it was Roger wanted as his date. "So who's the bloke? The one who got bought by a girl. Maybe he didn't have much choice in the matter and you still have a chance."

Roger smirked and quirked his eyebrow. "Oh sure he's your mat, but you do think he's fit eh? Interesting, interesting. And well, as for the whole into blokes thing I think he's what you'd call a bisexual, like me," he said, giving Ernie a wink.

"Oh come now, I'd never actually kill someone. I'd maybe make a ref disappear to the Sahara, but never kill," he said with a teasing smile before giving Ernie a considered look. "The bloke is my teammate, Marcus Flint," he said finally, nodding over to Marcus. "It's not so much of a choice thing as a he's-just-not-into-me type thing."

He shook his head in exasperation. "I think plenty of blokes are fit, it doesn't mean I'll be shagging them anytime in my lifetime. But if Harry's bisexual, well, at least we can watch cute bums together, right?"

Ernie gave Roger a sympathetic look. "I know the feeling. Though if you don't mind me saying, he's an idiot if he doesn't think you're his type. Gorgeous quidditch players with great senses of humour don't just come along every day, you know."

Roger laughed and held up his hands in surrender. "Okay dear, I was joking," he said, before grinning. "But yeah, totally check out some lads with him, show him the ropes so to speak."

He laughed quietly and shook his head slightly. "It's not that I'm not a totally catch," he began, with a wink, "It's that I don't think he swings his bat my side if you know what I mean? I can usually tell, but with him I can't be sure if it's a gay-dar or a wish-he-were-gay-dar." He twirled around for a second and then straightened up. "Who've you got your eye on then?"

Ernie laughed when Roger twirled, having a blast dancing. Yes, it was likely the sort of dancing that would have his old teacher groaning at the state of dance and the world, but Ernie didn't mind. Roger was fun, and Ernie deserved to have a bit of that on occasion.

"Ah, I get exactly what you mean," he replied a little sadly. "Maybe a little of both? In the end, have you tried? You'll never know unless you try. As for me, nobody in particular now, but I've been there before. Crushes on older blokes back in school who didn't know me from a hole in the wall, a couple of others over the years who weren't always so nice in turning me down but were still so fucking lovely to look at. It's not easy, and yeah, it can get a little lonely sometimes, right?"

"Oh you do," he asked, noting the sadness in the other man's voice. He sighed and shook his head morosely, even as they continued to dance. "I don't want to lose him at a friend. I figure if I can't have him, then at least I can have him as a friend you know? I know it's cowardly but I can't quite help it." He sighed again and shook his head. "Now come on Ernie, if I weren't in love with Marcus I'd do you 'til we both couldn't walk you know."

"Sometimes friendship is the best option," Ernie agreed. "If I said I'd never thought of shagging some of my friends - actually snogged one or two on occasion - I'd be lying, but in the end, I appreciate their friendship more than anything. Some things work out for the best I suppose."

Ernie couldn't help puffing up a little at the knowledge that this gorgeous quidditch player would shag him at a moment's notice. "And if you weren't technically my patient, I'd be dragging you off to the nearest broom cupboard to show you exactly why Pod remembered me so well. But I guess we're just destined to be star-crossed and all that shite. At least we'll always have that snog at the club, right?" he added with a smirking leer.

Roger nodded morosely. "You're right of course, and he's a fantastic friend... I just can't get the image of him the doing me against my kitchen wall." He smiled properly for a moment and spun Ernie around. "I have to say that's the most Hufflepuffian advice I've ever received. It even trumps things said to me during a threesome with two Hufflepuff prefects."

He gave a bark of laughter, surprised and deeply amused at the other man's words. "This is definitely something I'll put in my remember box, Mr. Healer," he said with a smirk. "Really though, Pod talks about that night all the time I think it ticked off a whole lot of kinks for him, really we should reward you with a medal or a season pass." He stopped dancing for a moment to clutch at his chest and flutter his eyelashes, "I'm sure that was the original draft of 'we'll always have Paris', don't you?"
