Percy and OPEN

Since Percy was being raffled as one of the 'dates', he wouldn't be able to bid. Not wanting to participate in the fundraiser without contributing (particularly since he couldn't see himself raising that much for the Foundation), he stopped by the donation box and dropped in a bag with 20 galleons.

"It's the least I can do," he said to himself as the coins clinked in the box.

Sure, Melinda was fine with Oliver being raffled off for charity – maybe even more so than Oliver was – but she had still spent the majority of the money she had set aside for his, on tickets to win him. The rest, she had spread out between her friends, and two people she wouldn’t mind getting to know better; Percy and Marcus.

After she had added the tickets to the various bowls, she headed to the donation table to make her own donations, and just caught the murmur from the man in front of her. Shifting a little, she recognised him and sent him a smile. “You don’t think being raffled off is enough?” she asked him, dropping first Sweet Nothings’ pouch of coins into the box, along with an invitation for the Foundation to stop by her shop whenever on foundation related work with the children, and then the rather larger pouch from the Apothecary.

Percy was startled by the voice, but smiled when he saw who it was. He blushed a little at being caught in a moment of self-deprecation.

"That was Lucy's idea, which I strongly suspect came originally from Alicia's twins. When my daughter has something like this in mind, she can be quite convincing. In all honesty, I don't know why I said yes. I doubt I will bring in much money for the Foundation." He smirked. "I imagine people would be afraid that I would bore them with broomstick regulations."

“Ah,” Melinda nodded with a soft laugh. “Yeah, those two are the born charity advocates, aren’t they? They’ve been on me, too.” Though she only knew Lucy from the times she had been in the shop with Percy, she had no doubt, that if she got an idea, she didn’t let it go. Of course, it also helped that Percy – at least from what she had seen – would do anything for her.

“Well, you’ve never bored me with that, and uhm…” she gestured to the bowl with Percy’s name on it. “From the looks of it, you’ve already pulled in a pretty good amount already.”

"They're little terrors," Percy expounded, but affectionately so. He really did like Alicia and her children, otherwise he would never have had playdates for them and Lucy. Furthermore, they reminded him of Fred and George when they were young, and he had a soft spot for them for that alone.

"Thank you," he replied, and looked to the bowl at her gesture. There were a few tickets in there, and a light flush came to his cheeks at the sight. "Well, I suppose I won't have to apologize to Alicia after all," he concluded with a chuckle.

"And you, I imagine you'll be dropping tickets into Oliver's bowl tonight? Did you come with him, or will you be leaving with him after the raffle?"

“I’m sure they can be,” Melinda grinned. She was in a position where she usually only saw children on either their very best or very worst behaviour, and with the twins, she had only seen them on their best behaviour in order to get some of the sweets she produced.

Melinda smiled; even if Percy hadn’t collected as many tickets as he had, she doubted he had anything to apologise for. “Didn’t I see your name on one of the donated dates?”

Drawing a little to the side to allow the other people better access to the donation stand, she nodded. “I did drop tickets in Oliver’s bowl,” she admitted with a smirk, “and some in each of my friends’ along with some in a couple of bowls for people I’d like to get to know better.” Which included Percy’s. “But no, I came here with Marietta and Cho and am meeting up with Oliver when he gets here. How about you? Are you meeting someone here tonight or would you care to join us?”

Percy nodded, pleased his contribution had been noticed. "There is an exhibit at the Museum of Magical History that is quite fascinating and I thought it to be the perfect get-together for an occasion such as this. Even though they're being referred to as 'dates', there is no romance required, so why not add a bit of culture and history to the mix?"

Percy followed when she moved, making way for an older witch with a gleam in her eye and a purse full of galleons. "I'm sure your friends will appreciate your making bids on them. And thank you for the invitation, but I think I will pass for tonight. I've no wish to be a third wheel, and you no doubt will want to tease Oliver over whoever is unlucky enough to win him," he finished with a smirk. "Another time, perhaps."

Hannah wasn't confident enough to put herself on the auction block and she hadn't been able to break away from work early enough to place any bids. Still, she wanted to enjoy seeing who ended up with whom. As she entered the venue, Hannah put a few coins in the box labeled donations and made her way to the edges of the crowd to watch the announcement of the dates.

Justin had arrived earlier, having asked for a few favors at work for the weekend and since he was so well liked (he never asked favors and usually answered favorably to others doing so) it hadn't been much of a problem.

He spotted Hannah in the crowd and grinned. "Well, hello my Darling." He said with a smile.

Hannah turned a smile lighting her face. Even though she was tired from her longer than normal shift she couldn't not feel her mood lift whenever he was around. Making her way around the few people between them she threw her arms around him in a big hug, "How are you?" she asked when she broke her embrace. "Looking forward to winning a stunning bloke?"

She looked at the list of available dates and a part of her wish she'd had the opportunity to bid. Not because she wanted to date anyone in particular, she simply thought some of the opportunities would have been brilliant.

Justin hugged her back fiercely, grinning. "I don't know about winning someone, but I'm up for auction, so someone's definitely winning me." He preferred to think of it as a wonderful opportunity of meeting new people, though he had a feeling that they wouldn't bid on random strangers.

"I'm kind of nervous though."

Hannah kept an arm around Justin's shoulders. "I doubt you have anything to be nervous about. You're a great catch. I'd have bid on you myself if Tom hadn't made me work late to handle the early part of the night shift."

She didn't know exactly what had happened to her counter part, only that Tom had said they weren't going to be in that evening so he'd made her stay until all the pre-reserved rooms were occupied. He said he'd make sure have paperwork ready for her to file and sort out in the morning for check out if anyone randomly came in looking for a room.

"You and Ernie keep saying that." He told her, chuckling. "But the goal isn't really to find a boyfriend tonight. I'm just hoping I won't get landed with someone I can't get along with." Besides, it was just one 'date'. He could survive that.

"How's work though?" he asked.

"Who said anything about looking for a boyfriend?" Hannah waggled her eyebrows. "Catch and release can be just as good." She squeezed his shoulder then pulled her arm off from where it had been resting to add emphasis to the tease.

"I just wish I'd been off this weekend. We had quite a few extra guests that needed to check in a little later than normal. There are quite a few individuals that came in from out of town to enjoy the festivities tonight."

"Because saying I'm a great catch kind of implies the whole.." He eyed her and chuckled. "So okay, maybe not a boyfriend but at least a great night?" He told her with a smile. "Ah well, we'll see when we know who has won me."

"It's sad that you had to work so late." He wrapped his arm around her waist and gently pulled her closer to him. "I'm glad you are here though."

"I haven't seen anyone too objectionable walking around," Hannah stated reassuringly. Sure, there were a few less desirables but the likelihood they would bid on Justin was slim to none.

When Justin pulled her closer she rested her head on his shoulder. "It's not all bad," she sighed. "It gave me a little extra gold so I could at least give a donation."

Justin hadn't really bid, but he had definitely donated and he nodded. "It's a good idea to take separate donations though." Justin looked at Hannah and kissed her again. "I agree that more money is a good idea. It's what I keep saying to myself every extra shift."

"Don't remind me about extra shifts," she groaned. Hannah knew she needed to take more or look for a second job. Sure, the baby wasn't due for another five months, but those would be gone before she realized it. She had already conceeded the fact that the room her mother had painted for her would become the nursery for the baby. The sooner she had the money to move out the sooner she could allow that mental breakdown to occur allowing her to move on.

Justin kissed Hannah again and squeezed her, trying to comfort her. "I won't." He said quietly. "I don't see you enough. We should do something. Or maybe we could get everyone at my place for a party or something." He looked at her and smiled. That was a nice idea.

"We definitely need more time together," Hannah agreed. "I feel like it's been ages since I spent any quality time with my friends." Hannah enjoyed her job but it did take a good deal of her time. At least she had every other weekend off. "

"I know the feeling. I think we're all still so young, we're all working on getting our feet settled in our careers." He said, nodding. "But you can come over for movies and such you know." Justin was repeating himself, he knew it, but he liked to have people over as often as possible. He really didn't like being alone.

Hannah would have loved to continue the conversation but they were interrupted by an announcement that the raffle was about to begin. "I'll swing by on my next weekend off." That would be around Halloween which was always a good time. She then gave him a quick peck on the cheek and a friendly push in the direction of the location where the other prizes were gathering. "Good luck."

Justin blew Hannah a kiss as he walked over to the spot where the other people who were being raffled off where gathering for the event. He waved at her and smiled. He definitely needed to make plans to see his friends more often.
