Dennis whistled tunelessly to himself as he walked up the stairs to the flat he shared with Rose. He'd spent most of the time since he'd returned from Indonesia with the Cursebreakers that morning, cloistered in a meeting with his editor and various other interested parties, having his writing read over. Then they'd allowed him to go and scoff down some food before hauling him back in to "ask" him if he'd be interested in doing a regular column where he followed Cursebreakers, Aurors, and other "titillating figures" around and write about them. Sort of a combination crime, adventure, and travel documentary presented in textual format. Dennis had hummed and hawed - his first love being crime reporting - but eventually the promise of an increased wage and the promise that he'd still be allowed to report on criminal matters in London had seen him cave. Now however, it was time to kick back and relax with his two best friends.
He unlocked the door and kicked off the boots he'd picked up in Indonesia. "Rose, are you home," he called out, crossing to the counter where a neat stack of mail showed she'd been home at at least one point, though though the fact that it was unsorted strongly suggested she hadn't stayed long. Taking her lack of response to be a confirmation of this he wandered into his room and quickly unpacked his bags, pulling the various gifts and trinkets he'd picked up on the bed before wandering back into the kitchen to get himself a drink. Humming to himself again, he quickly sorted through the mail and decided to go and put Rose's in her room. It wasn't until he was actually in the room that he looked up, realised that he'd just passed through a sound ward barrier, and promptly fell backwards. "OH MY GOD WHY DIDN'T YOU SHUT THE DOOR," he yelled hoarsely, covering his eyes.
