It was hard not to fidget. She just...had all this energy right now, and there were still about ten minutes before Dora would be here. Diagon Alley had already been middling busy, so she hadn't lingered too long: just long enough to buy some new quills and sealing wax, since she was here, and a few minutes in Flourish and Blotts to see what new titles they were carrying. None of them had piqued her interest enough to pick any up, so she'd gone out and continued on, waving at Greg through the window on her way past Weasley's. She'd turned into Monument Alley, then stopped to get her bearings, because it was a little strange, standing there in the middle of what used to be the one place she was never allowed to go when the family went shopping. Not even her brother had been permitted, and he'd been everyone's special pet. It was a little surreal, seeing it so clean and prosperous. Parents with little children heading for the park, young professionals hurrying between doors.
It was so different.
She considered one of the displays in the window at What the Book, then stepped aside as a harried-looking mother with several children tried to make her way in despite the number of parcels all of them were already carrying. Millicent wondered to herself why they hadn't sent their things on ahead with delivery owls or an elf, or Shrunk the parcels even, then moved on back toward the pâtisserie, to other, quieter shops whose customers didn't make her roll her eyes.
At two minutes to nine, she let herself into Sweet Nothings, and began considering the menu, despite knowing she wanted. Knowing what else they could offer would be good, and she'd been told this was a nice place often enough that she could foresee frequenting it. Good to know the lay of the land beforehand, as Jane would say.
She felt a brush of air to her side as the shop's clock turned to nine, and smiled. "Punctual as usual," she said in amusement, turning her head to look at Dora sidelong.
