Q-Topia
Who: Anyone who is queer, or questioning. (No allies, please!)
What: Q-Topia!!
Where: The Roost, Finnigan's
When: Sunday night, starting at 7pm
Rating: SFW as far as I know?

Romeo was excited for the first meeting of Q-Topia. The chairs were in place, the projector set up and the movie ready: But I'm A Cheerleader was a classic queer movie and it was funny enough to break some of the ice.

After setting the People Bingo cards on a nearby table, Romeo went over and checked on the food. The mini tacos were being kept nice and warm with a nice little charm, and the jalapeño poppers were ready next to a bowl of ranch dressing for dipping. There was nothing to do but wait for people to arrive.

OOC Note: Anyone is welcome to join the thread. Romeo has requested that allies respect this queer safe space, though obviously he has no way of enforcing this, so characters are on the honor system. Feel free to start your own threads under the headings in the comments!

Ernie made a humming sound as he thought - he'd always been a good person to bounce ideas off of. "Maybe it's the timing. I mean, the nighttime when the club is usually open isn't the time of day that other people would choose to get together. Maybe if you had something going on the weekend days or week evenings, that could attract a different crowd. It all depends on what you're going for, I suppose."

He'd heard the term and understood the conept - in theory at least, as he couldn't imagine not being attracted to the gorgeous blokes around him. But then, he couldn't imagine being attracted to girls. Perhaps it was sort of like that, but for everyone? "That's okay, I guess the important thing is that you have a word for it now, right?" The pun was pretty hilarious and Ernie had a good chuckle at it. "Though you can't be fucking beautiful because then you'd be giving a fuck," he said with a sly grin. "Maybe I can even help. Whenever a bloke tries to hit on you, you just send them my way and I'll console them."

"Eh, I don't want to step on Seamus' toes. Maybe it's something to think of for the future. I've only been open a couple of months," he said with a shrug. "Thursdays were always floating around, I just needed a theme that'd work and not piss me off too much."

Charlie thought he'd spotted the flicker of disconnect he saw in people when he mentioned that he had no desire for sex. People generally didn't get it, and a lot of people could get pretty belligerent about it, but Ernie seemed to be pretty relaxed thankfully. "The lack of word never bothered me all that much, just so long as people accept no for an answer," he said and then laughed appreciatively at Ernie's extension of his joke. He half waved off his suggestion about sending men his way though. "I'm sure they could do worse. Just so long as they don't spend half an hour getting me to change my mind I'll be happy," he said, rolling his eyes. It had happened before, with both men and women and it was always uncomfortable and often became tedious.

Ernie chuckled. "That's all right too. If you ever need another theme, I've plenty of ideas like masque night, dress as your favourite Muggle, and there's a Muggle club I went to that had something they called Goth Night that was quite fun."

Ernie had known at least one girl in his life who couldn't take gay for an answer, and could definitely empathize with Charlie. He made a mental note to step in if he ever heard of anyone thinking of challenging the man's sexuality - nobody messed with the people Ernie liked. "Hey, I'm not completely selfless - you can send them my way for my sake, I can always use the dates," he replied with a sly grin. "But I'm glad you came, Charlie. Even though we're not the same, we're all sort of family now, a community. If you ever need a healer, you can come find me."

"A masque might be fun sometime, and I think I went to something goth themed when I was in Romania, lots of black clothes and pale skin, right?" he asked. It was a poor sort of approximation of vampires in his opinion, but what did the Muggles know.

He smiled, comforted by Ernie's acceptance. "I'll see what I can do," he said, amused. "And I think I'm glad I came too, even more so because this food is excellent," he said, grabbing another mini-taco and popping it in his mouth.

"Thanks for the healing offer too, although I'm hoping I don't need it," he said.
