A/N: (I took a tiny liberty with the Ballycastle healer - if anyone wants to change it, I can no problem!)

The moment the game was over and the players landed, the Ballycstle healer all but dragged Vikesh into the locker room to examine him. She muttered under her breath as he was plopped down onto a bench - the witch was stronger than she looked - and he was quickly enveloped in a diagnostic spell. She then said something about 'too stubborn for your own good' and 'idiot beaters being the death of me' before starting the appropriate healing charms that would have his shoulder feeling good as new.

Unfortunately, the one thing she couldn't heal was his pride, something he didn't like to acknowledge he had yet there it was. He'd been so focused on going after Quirke that he'd likely missed all too many opportunities to aim for the other team's chasers. He knew his team had been up in points before the snitch was captured, but had he done his job right, then maybe they'd have been so far ahead that even the snitch would not have been able to top them.

He grit his teeth as his shoulder started feeling normal again, and he was thankful that at least could be done rather painlessly. He was definitely going to spend a few hours meditating - he needed to rid himself of his anger and frustration and pride before it grew too large.

Losing was never easy, but Terry didn't like to dwell on the negative. He liked to use what went wrong to improve the play for the next game, and had a mental list of things to work on in the next week. Overall, he was happy with his performance for this game and that's all he could really ask for after a loss.

He showered, forgoing the towel after. He preferred to air dry when at all possible, and his teammates were used by now to his nakedness in the locker room. He spotted Vik on the other side of the room, and headed over. He knew his friend was taking the loss hard; wondered privately what had happened between him and Quirke that had messed his head up for the game.

"How's the shoulder, mate?"

Vikesh looked up at Terry, quite used to the man's nudity by now considering they both shared a locker room and a flat. "It's healing," he said, testing it out with a small roll and wincing as it reminded him that it wasn't quite ready for that just yet.

"We almost had it tonight," he said, tossing a small towel into his locker. "You were good out there, and if we'd only managed to get a few more, then the snitch wouldn't have mattered."

With a sigh, he stood up and reached into his locker for a shirt.

"Heal faster if you didn't poke at it so much," Terry pointed out, beginning the slow process of cleaning his pads. He preferred to do it manually, liking the feeling of leather and the smell of the oil.

Vee's compliment got a small smile, because he had done well tonight. He also wasn't one to ignore the obvious. "You didn't seem to have your head in the game as much as usual tonight." He let the comment hang in the air for a moment. "Anything you need to talk about?"

It took great effort to refrain from rolling his eyes. Now that the healer was done her job, he could get back to his and work to removing the rest of his equipment and caring for it. He was of a much simpler bent, preferring magic for speed and efficiency. It wasn't long before he was nearly as naked as Terry, though he didn't luxuriate in it as much as the other man appeared to do.

"My head was distracted," he admitted, reaching for a pair of soft, well-worn track pants. "But not by anything off the pitch. That beater of theirs looked ready to take my head off - I just responded in kind. It's all right, nothing an hour of prayer won't fix." He looked up at Terry. "I promise, no distraction next game."

Terry finished his pads, then started in on post-game stretches as Vee talked. Well, as much as Vee talked about anything anyway.

"She did at that," Terry agreed. "Something between you two I don't know about? Because if this is going to happen every time we play them, we should work on strategies to compensate."

Prayer would help, at least for Vee it would, but Terry was a proponent of actionable strategies as well.

Vikesh looked enviously at Terry's stretching, knowing his body couldn't do that until the healing spell had done its work.

"Nothing I can put my finger on," he replied. He was always honest, to a fault, and was especially so with his teammates. "I barely know the girl, haven't played against her before. But when the bludger came at me, I just seemed to hone in on her. On the plus side, with her focus on me, she wasn't aiming at any of our chasers."

Instead of moving to clothe himself, he lowered to the ground, his legs folding naturally in a position that most people would probably think unnatural. His spine straightened as his hands settled over his knees, fingers curled inward. He wasn't planning on getting into a meditative state or pray, the posture was simply something that helped him relax and destress after a game.

"But you're right, though it's hard to tell after just one game if it will come up again. But then, it might also happen with someone else. A strategy could be sound."

Terry was slightly confused at that; it wasn't like Vee to get out of sorts by someone he didn't even know. But it was true that Quirke had focused on Vee just as intensely, so maybe it was just one of those negative connections that couldn't be explained. Stranger things had happened.

Copying Vee's position, he began a series of deep breathing exercises that helped him come down from any post-game high before going home. "It wouldn't hurt to think about it. We could talk about it next practice; it would be beneficial for the whole team to be able to focus through unexpected distraction."

Vikesh could feel the tension beginning to ease from his body as a natural calm came over him. "Let's add it to the list of things to tackle, then. In the meantime, will you be celebrating your good game tonight? You know if you need the flat to yourself, all you have to do is let me know."

His lips quirked up into a smirk which he immediately tried to hide. "Or maybe we can just open the blinds and let you give the neighbourhood a show."

Terry laughed, but shook his head. "No celebrating tonight, unless you count the glass of wine I plan to indulge in before bed." He allowed himself one glass a week, and very rarely partook of even that amount. "Not seeing anyone right now, so any other kind of celebrating is out of the picture." He knew if he wanted he could head into any pub that broadcast Quidditch and find himself companionship for the night, but encounters of that sort held no appeal for him, and never had.

"Shall I do a little dance for them as well?" he asked, rolling his eyes as he finally started pulling on clothes for the trip home. "No, I think I'll do some reading, actually. I'm in the middle of a fascinating text on early Transfiguration techniques of the Vikings." It was fascinating, and Terry was looking forward to finishing it.

Vikesh wasn't surprised at the lack of 'other celebrating' - one didn't room with a man for any period of time without getting to know a few of their routines. However... "Still had to offer, just in case."

He nodded and started unfolding his legs. "You're such a Ravenclaw, Terry," he said, almost teasingly. "All right, you go on ahead. I haven't had a chance to shower yet and I'd rather do it now than at the flat. If you don't hear me, it's because I'll have a privacy charm up so I can meditate in silence."
