Who: Marcus and Harry
What: Brooding??
Where: Finnigan's
When: Thursday, October 2, early evening
Rating: TBD but currently SFW

Marcus hated losing. Anyone who was even vaguely familiar with him when it came to Quidditch was aware of this fact, but today's match felt a little worse than usual. Losing at home was bad enough, though it was becoming a pattern this season, but he rather despised losing against the team he'd formerly played for, even if it had only been as a reserve.

Rather than sit at home and go every minute detail of the game and what could have been done differently or better - a habit he knew he had, if no preemptive action was taken - he showered and changed before heading out to Finnigan's since at least listening to someone else's match would keep from from replaying his own in his head.

Finding himself a table wasn't as difficult as it could have been, since it was only a Thursday, and he ordered a cheeseburger and a pitcher of water from a passing waitress before settling in to listen, arms crossed on the table in front of him as he focused on the announcer's voices, a vaguely displeased expression unconsciously settling on his face.

"Uh, sorry. Didn't see you here," Harry said, ignoring the sarcasm. It was hardly his fault that Marcus bloody Flint blended so easily into the shadows of the booth. Anyone could have missed him. He ignored the way his face went hot, refusing to be embarrassed by the mistake.

The problem was in the time he'd been sitting here, the last free table had been snatched up. He could always sit at the bar, but he wasn't in the mood for conversation. But it would be better than sitting here with Flint, even if Flint was rather harmless these days. He knew Oliver and Roger were both friends with him now, and though he didn't necessarily understand or approve, it wasn't really his business. That didn't mean he couldn't feel things out for himself.

"Look, everywhere else is full up. Mind if we share?"

Rolling his eyes at the excuse, Marcus shook his head slightly - he wasn't sure how anyone could overlook someone of his stature, but he ignored that for the time being. Benefit of the doubt, or something like it, a phrase he'd read somewhere at some point, that had for some reason stuck with him.

He glanced around the bar, rather displeased to see that Potter was correct about it being the last table. With a sigh, he relented, because he could at least understand the desire not to socialize. "I suppose I've had worse dinner companions," he answered after a moment, which really wasn't untrue, though not something he'd like to go into very much detail on.

"Thanks," Harry said dryly, not appreciating being compared to those previous dinner companions, even if he came out favorably in that comparison. But he didn't want to find a new place to sit, and Flint was unlikely to require much conversation. Besides, he knew that Roger actually considered Flint a friend these days, as did Oliver, so they must see something in him that Harry himself didn't.

But despite his best efforts to ignore Flint, Harry had never done well with uncomfortable silences. "Sorry 'bout the game," he said after the waitress had come and gone for his order. "Caught bits of it here and there. Rough one."
