Q-Topia
I am Romeo Matías García-Davies. Some of you may know me from our time together at Hogwarts. Some may know me from my job cooking at Finnigan's. Some may not know me at all.

I am queer.

If I had to define my gender, I would call myself somewhere between gender fluid and gender neutral. I look like what society would categorize as "a boy", but I do not feel like one. Nor do I feel like a girl. I am floating somewhere comfortable in the middle, a metaphoric foot in the male camp because of my presentation, but the rest of my being gloriously free of the gender binary imposed upon us by society.

If I had to define my sexuality, I would call myself definitely pan...something. I don't see gender as a barrier to love or attraction. With that said I don't necessarily know if I am pansexual... perhaps I am simply panromantic and asexual.

So that is me.

I know there are other people out there who, like me, don't conform to the neat little boxes the world would like to put us in. Maybe you don't fit the gender binary. Maybe you aren't neatly heterosexual. I would like to start a group for all of us to gather, support each other, and talk about the particular issues we face. This is not your school-era Gay-Straight Alliance. This is a utopia. A Queer-topia, if you will. And it is coming soon, if there is enough interest.

(You can make your replies private to me if you are nervous/cautious/not out.)

I don't know what any of those words mean. Time for a new edition of my dictionary.

Which words are causing you trouble, friend?

We are not friends.

All of them?

Anyway, good luck with your group and forming it.

Thank you for your kind wishes.

For your consideration:

Queer is something that has many definitions, depending on with whom you are speaking, but for me it means "outside the norm".

Genderfluid for me means that sometimes I feel "masculine" and sometimes I feel "feminine" and that my feeling can change from day to day. I do not classify myself as either because to do so seems unnecessarily rigid to me.

Gender neutral for me means that I don't identify as either "a boy" or "a girl" but rather somewhere outside of the two.

the gender binary is the idea that most people have, that you can be a boy, or a girl. Because most people fall into one of the two, many people operate under the false assumption that they are the only two... and, my friend, they are just two of many, many options!

Pansexual means that I have the potential to be sexually attracted to anyone, no matter what their body type or what gender they identify with. Gender is... not something that matters to me.

Asexual means that I have no sexual attraction to anyone. It's different from celibacy - celibate people choose not to have sex, and asexual people simply do not have the desire to.

Panromantic is almost like pansexual, but without the sex! It's about who I can fall in love with. And again, I sense that I have the potential to fall in love with anyone, regardless of gender.

I hope this has helped you!

If it would be easier, you can call me Zacharias.

That is a mouthful of a name! But if it pleases you, then this I will do, Zacharias.

If it's too much, then friend is fine. I just thought Not everyone likes writing it out or saying it all anyway.

It is all the same to me, my friend. I am aware that I have a habit of calling people "friend". I do it because it is non-gendered and it is pleasant, but not everyone enjoys it. Ultimately, the choice is yours, how you would like me to address you. I respect everyone's chosen names and pronouns.

Hello, I am Romeo.

Oh, I didn't introduce myself, how rude! I'm sorry. I'm Miss Capper.

I've never heard most of those words at all.

Properly, I am Romeo Matías García-Davies, and it is very nice to meet you, Miss Capper.

I suspect that if I were not so... embroiled in them, I would not have heard many of them myself. But the subject is somewhat near and dear to me, you understand, and so educating myself became less a chore and more a... necessity?

Well, I did not attempt it all at one time. And I had some good friends who guided me through some of the trickier concepts.

Yes, quite! Thank you for your input! I don't believe we have officially met. I am Romeo. I think I remember seeing you about the castle when I was very young?

It does not matter, Miss Rivers. Forgive me my messiness.

I have been hard at work planning ice breaking games for the first meeting... so far I have one.

No worries about messes (I'm not always the best at being tidy myself, just ask Zacharias!) but no Miss Rivers, I'm Stacey. The only people who call me Miss Rivers are the stuffy business people I have to deal with on occasion.

Ooh, what game? Because I'm sure I can help you find some more.
