I have been reading a biography of Muggle Prime-Minister Winston Churchill and saw that he said the following:

"A politician needs the ability to foretell what is going to happen tomorrow, next week, next month, and next year. And to have the ability afterwards to explain why it didn't happen."

I hope that a night's rest has done you good, Oliver. I believe I may have a plan of attack, but it would require cooperation from both yourself and Melinda.

In my opinion, the best approach for you would be one that makes light of the situation. Casual jokes about "bewitching my cupcakes" accompanied by a knowing/playful wink, and in essence turning it into a great big joke. (This is, of course, an approach that would be impossible for someone like me, as the media/public would never believe me capable of cracking a joke or being anything other than serious with a, what do they say, stick up my arse?) The next step would then be to make an appearance in public with Melinda, give an opportunity for people to see you two together and genuine. The last step could be done with the assistance of Alicia, if she is amenable - you and Melinda using your current super-celebrity status for a fundraiser for the Fawley foundation, complete with desserts provided by Melinda's bakery.

The largest possible downside to this that I can see is that the media may in turn posit that this has all been a large publicity stunt to get increase awareness for Sweet Nothings, but knowing this, we can turn this in your favours because if it is 'just a stunt', then the media may possibly pay less attention in the future.

This will all, of course, hinge upon your ability to stick to the game plan, stay calm, and please Oliver, do not hit anyone off the pitch. If you don't care for my ideas, you're more than welcome to seek advice elsewhere - I hear Pansy Parkinson has made herself quite a reputation for her work in public relations and may even be willing to take you on as a client. Otherwise, I would be happy to sit with you both (you and Melinda, of course) to discuss this more thoroughly and prepare you both for the incoming media onslaught.

Welcome to dating monogamously as a professional quidditch player - the closest thing to politics you'll ever get without working in the Ministry.

I hope you are well. I haven't addressed you personally as of yet as I have only had the privilege of knowing you in a professional setting, and did not feel it was my place to speak one way or another - however, you happen to be my daughter's favourite baker, if I may say so. However, I am friends with Oliver, and doing my best to advise him vis-a-vis the current situation, using my many years of working in the Ministry as a knowledge base.

I had given as a potential suggestion a dinner between myself and the two of you where I could help prepare you both for anything reporters might throw your way and the potential reactions to certain responses. Would you be amenable to such a thing should Oliver suggest it?

You are a friend of Oliver's, and though I have yet to make your acquaintance as such I truly appreciate your support and advisement of him.

I would be amenable for that. Though it would be my pleasure to meet any of Oliver's friends, I do not believe it is my place to make that happen without his involvement. Had matters been different, I would have suggested a dinner such as the one you mentioned this Sunday evening.

Thank you, though I believe my personal methods of support tend to grate on Oliver's nerves on occasion. I've never been a cheerleader, and am far too pragmatic for my own good - but he's a good man, and I wouldn't waste my time with anything or anyone less.

Which is exactly why I hinted that Oliver should suggest it. With him, it's sometimes a good idea to let him pretend that it was his idea, he's far more amenable that way.

Really? Granted I have only known him for a couple of months, but I have found that simply asking him would make him agree. That, perhaps, is something I should not admit to, as it plays into the whole Potion debacle a little too well.

	Ah, but there are times when I wonder why I keep him around as well, so all is well in the end. But then you have methods of persuasion that I do not have at my disposal, and I am not referring to the subject of that horrendous article either. My apologies, I'm afraid I did not quite word that properly. I am aware that Muggles are capable of being wise as well, that we do not have a monopoly on the quality. I am simply frequently surprised, and pleasantly so, when I find Muggle knowledge that is equally applicable in both worlds. I have spent my entire life in this world, and books do not always accurately convey what it is to live in the Muggle world.

Hmm. While I appreciate this is a well thought out plan, I'm not going to joke about something that is hurtful like that. Everything else is fine, but I'm not going to be able to find the humor or whatever in it. When libel is printed, you don't laugh it off, it just lets the writer think they can get away with it.

I was never actually planning on hurting anyone, by the by. I'm not actually as thick as I look.

All right, we can compromise - if you can't laugh it off, then at least answer everything with a "no comment" both in the journals and in person - you say the writer thinks they can get away with it, I say the writer is trying to see what buttons they can press to create a reaction that will get them further celebrity by writing about you, and the more you react, the more they have to write about. When you act indignant, they know where the chink in your armour lies and can then keep at it, knowing exactly where to target their attacks. Think of it like the hoops - once you have shown you're weak at protecting one hoop, the chasers will target it.

I know you wouldn't, Oliver, I was being sarcastic. I do that on occasion, you know. And I don't believe you're thick - you are, however, overly emotional at times and that has the ability to blind one-self to reason - and in that, you're in good company as it happens to us all.

I'd much rather not. Being in PR would put a great big bull's eye on me that I can't afford now that I have Lucy, especially at her age. Some day she'll be older, and I'll run for Minister, and then I'll have my own PR team, so all will be well.

Dinner would be an excellent idea. Perhaps you could suggest it to your lady love? As I've only ever met her at her workplace, it would be rather unseemly for me to extend such an invitation, and she would be more likely to accept if it comes from you.
