Rolf held out his hand to the injured animal. Crups could be fierce when injured or their loyalty tested. A tentative lick rewarded him, and he rubbed its head gently. "Look at you, little one," he murmured. "You've been fighting, haven't you? You sure got bit good."
He nodded faintly. "He is a bit pathetic," he agreed. "But fixable. I'll take care of him for tonight and send for the vet tomorrow morning, I think." He thought he could handle the wounds and doctor it for pain right now, though if it turned out otherwise he'd wake up Luna. He'd rather not have to do that though, with how busy she was with the vet and her father right now. "Were there any other animals around?" he asked. "Something that could have gotten him?"
