RP: How Sweet!
Who: Bryn and Susan

What: Buying an obscene amount of pastries and chatting

Where: Sweet Nothings, Monument Alley

When: Monday, 22nd of September, late afternoon

Rating: SFW

It was with a startled exclamation and a moment of stunned incredulity that Susan realised that she'd never actually been inside Sweet Nothings before. She stood and stared at the attractive store front with it's delectable menu for nearly a full minute before someone rudely bumped into her and broke her out of her trance. After throwing an unfocused and almost perfunctory question about the possible parentage of the man who had run into her, and whether one of his parents was in fact a bear, she entered the shop.

"Oh sweet Helga, these look amazing," she said with a huge sigh as she approached the display case. She looked up at the shop attendant and blushed slightly. "Oh hello! It's Bryn right? How are you?"

Susan nearly whined with happiness, nodding enthusiastically at the idea of chocolate gâteau. "Yes please! Anyone who turns down gâteau is tired with life, don't you think?"

She grinned at the idea of the jam doughnuts and nodded. "Throw the doughnuts and maybe some custard tarts and maybe I'll be able to face going back to face the Wizengamot again tomorrow," she said, sighing slightly.

"Yeah. And this stuff is lush." Bryn carefully slid a large slice into one of the cardboard boxes, along with the vanilla slices. Deciding that the box was full enough, Bryn closed it and deftly wrapped it up with a length of ribbon.

Bryn chuckled softly. "Curses and the wizengamot? No wonder you need cake. Personally, I go for cheese, but I think that's just me." He plucked off another length of ribbon for the other box. "Can I tempt you with a coffee? Or we have some excellent teas."

"You don't have to tell me twice, it all looks amazing," she said appreciatively as he wrapped the box up. "You look like you've done that before," she added with a smile.

She nodded sadly. "The glamorous life of your friendly neighbourhood Auror," she said with a grimace. "You know how it is." She looked at him for a long moment, then nodded. "I would love some tea, thank you."

"Nimble fingers," Bryn said with a grin, gently stacking the boxes and fishing for a bag so that Susan's purchases would be easier for her to carry.

He laughed more at that. "If you think that's glam, you should see me up to my elbows in flour. Or lugging barrels around at the pub." Bryn let out a low whistle. "Now, that's really living the high life."

There were a few teas on offer at Sweet Nothings, some of which were more suited to some of Susan's pastries than others. "I think... yeah, this one." Bryn chose one of the more generic teas, the sort he usually suggested for people who looked blankly at the menu when trying to decide what to drink. As he didn't know which of her cakes Susan was going to eat with it. "That'll just be a minute."

Susan laughed, closing her eyes for a second as she nodded. "Nothing more important than nimble fingers I always say."

"Well at least you keep busy," she asked with a tilt of her head. "And Seamus doesn't let you use your wand to lug barrels around? Shame on him! I should have a word with him!"

She nodded at his choice, happy to go with something general enough to be drunk with any number of treats. "Can't go wrong with a nice darjeeling," she approved as he wandered away.

"Some things... Some things I just prefer to do by hand," Bryn said with a wry smiled. "Then again, sometimes a wand is easier when I've had a busy day."

He prepared the tea with a few well-rehearsed motions. Sweet Nothings wasn't his first job with barista duties, but it was certainly the best. Melinda was a good boss and she used great ingredients in her products. It was the sort of place he would want to have if he owned a shop of his own.

As the tea brewed, he rand up the total on the till. "Anything else I can tempt you with today?" he asked with an impish grin.

"There's a pun in there just aching to be made," Susan said with a wicked smile. "But I shall abstain from doing so. I know what you mean about wands though; sometimes it's all too much work."

She laughed and shook her head. "No thank you, I'm sure the panic my arteries will have at the amount of sugar I'll eat tonight will be more than sufficient."

Bryn returned her smile. "I'm sure it's a pun I've heard plenty of times before." Hufflepuff may have been cuddle central at Hogwarts, but the dorms still housed plenty of randy teenage boys.

"Well, enjoy," Bryn said, setting Susan's tea next to the bag. "You'll have to come back and let us know your favourites."
