Journal: Grasping At Straws
Hiya everyone!

So I've a quick favour to beg if you'd please. I'm writing an article on loan to a different desk and I wanted a quick head count on folks who'd agree or disagree with the proposal to eventually purchase land and/or warehouses to develop further high streets or markets over the next ten or so years? It's an idea being floated around by the Department of Rejuvenation and I'd love to hear what you all thought of it?

Anyone who answers is liable to have me buy them a drink at a future date!

[Warded to Rose and Rolf]
When are you two lovebirds off for your little sexy holiday then? Do I get the flat all to myself this weekend? WHATEVER SHALL I DO?

[Warded to Ginny]
Hey Spike, keen for a drink this weekend?

We have existed for centuries with what he have. I do not see the need for expansion.

Excellent, thank you! I'll put you down in the no column, well not you specifically there is confidentiality to uphold. But thanks a lot!

I'm all in favor of expansion if the economy will carry it, but feel it should be done with private capital, not public funds.

Now that's an interesting perspective! From what I can understand, Rejuvenation is keen to do a mix of public and privately funded spaces. So the Ministry would pay for say parks or public use areas, and would facilitate the purchase of the areas but the shops would be built using private capital. At least that’s what I think is happening? The woman I interviewed was very excited and I had to keep ducking out of the way of her extravagant hand gestures.

You give a businessman enough of a tax incentive, and may some advertising like they do for football stadiums, and I'll bet you could get the public venues built with private funds as well.

Portkey's set to leave Friday afternoon and I'll be back Wednesday morning, so yep, you have the whole Case del Crap to yourself.

In that time, you should run around naked, jump on the bed, sleep in, use the loo with the door open, and if you have sex in my bed, please change the sheets afterwards. Knock yourself out. I have checked the cupboards; not a single one of them have even the faintest trace of a ward left on them.

Once I figure out if this holiday hoohah is something for me, maybe you and I should go somewhere? Or you could maybe do a piece on Cursebreaking and come with me on the next assignment?

Oooh a holiday would be nice? I'm quite keen on the idea of a Cursebreaker series? I could follow you around a do series of articles or essays on it?

A change of scenery can do wonders, so all depending on the mood and the finances we can see where it ends up being, yes? I know we can always stay for free in Bucharest. Then it's only the Portkey fare we need to get together.

While I'm not the one making the decisions there or even pulling the strings I can pull some strings and I don't see why it wouldn't be possible. Just be aware that you'll have to deal with Carmichael as well. He gets a little pissy sometimes.

I don't know enough about it to give an informed opinion but on the surface it looks like a good idea.

We're leaving Friday and coming back Wednesday morning in time for me to go to the shop, I think. Next time we'll plan something for all three of us, since we were talking travel just the other day, how does that sound?

As for what you should do... no murder or mayhem and nothing I need to do either for you afterward, haha. Have fun and we'll miss you!

Thanks Cutie!

Remember no glove: no love! Okay okay that was a joke. I'm sure Rose has contraceptive potions

See you when you get back. I'll have the apartment fixed up by then ;-)

... Dennis, you just made me spit out my tea EVERYWHERE. Oh good gods, man!

If you want to drop by my flat, feel free. All the animals except for the monster cat will be down in the shop, so you'll only have to deal with her.

Don't do too much damage or you'll have to deal with Rose!

And I just cackled, at my desk, in the middle of the Prophet.

You're welcome.

Do you want me to come look in on Monster cat? She likes me, so it'll stop her clawing the assistant?

I promise you I'll do no structural damage. Let's be honest, I'll probably curl up and read a book.

You are an evil man, Dennis. EVIL.

You can! She'd love the attention. She remember she could accidentally suffocate you with her size should you tempt her to lay on your head.

I know you won't. But it's still fun to tease!

It is my belief that we have our magical needs met already in London by Diagon and Monument alleys. If there is expansion to be done it needs to be outside the city closer to outlying communities such as Godric's Hollow and Ottery St. Catchpole. Non-magical needs can be met by Muggle stores and part of what we fought for was to garner acceptance of the Muggleborn and Half-Blood cultures which includes the embracing of their way of life. We should also be encouraging those with magical abilities that have a passion for items considered traditionally Muggle to integrate into Muggle establishments. In that way we are using Muggle resources to house businesses while brining monies into our own communities that we would not have otherwise had as it increases the viable customer base.

As far as I can tell they're interested in having one or two more high streets in London to sort of ease demand by would-be business owners for space, and also maybe putting some in regional areas? I'm not too sure, I'm writing the article as a favour because the original writer got hit by a charm in a bar fight and now has horns.

I'm certainly for it and I know I'd love to eventually open more Quickpulse's, so if they're looking for business interest, you can use my name. Also, if you'd like to speak with the LBB, I'm sure there will be lots of strong opinions either way there. We meet every week.
