Come cuddle
Who: Open to Hannah, Susan, Bryn, Dennis, Justin, Neville, Luna, Ernie, Ben, Megan & Dean - And also to anyone who may have followed them up from Battlescars / the pub.
What: Cuddles, cheering up. ETA: Or, as it turns out, angst.
Where: The Roost
When: After lunch Sunday - potentially Monday morning if people stay over
Rating: SFW (Seamus says no sex or nudity in his pub! Language is fine, I'll update the rating if we need it.)

Seamus hadn't bothered to get Dominic to alter The Roost for his impromptu cuddle party so the room was in more or less its natural stage. Wide open, taking up the whole of the second floor, with white walls and big windows along both sides it was pleasant if not particularly exciting. Before Battlescars, Seamus dragged not only his pillows and duvet down from his flat but also all the spare cushions from his couch. He'd used cleaning and freshening charms on all of it and then, in a fit of whimsy, charmed it all yellow in honour of Hufflepuff.

It wasn't quite 'the Hufflepuff common room' that he'd originally suggested to Dean in order to cheer up Susan, but he suspected it would do. It was the people more than the furniture that made a cuddle party what it was. The snacks he'd promised were already stowed in one corner - bags of marshmallows and popcorn, a stack of chocolate frogs and a thermos of hot chocolate. He suspected people would be adding to his supplies as they arrived.

Justin shifted on the mattress and hugged Susan tightly, hiding his face the best he could while keeping it appropriate. Ernie was around and he didn't look forward to have to explain to him why he would never go back to work at the Janus Thickey Ward again. "I'm glad to see you too." he whispered. "I'm sorry I wasn't around last week, you seemed to be having a hard time."

Susan hugged Justin tighter and made soft cooing noises at him for a few moments. She knew vaguely from talking to Ernie that Justin had been working at the Janus Thickey Ward, and had vaguely wondered if it had been hard for the poor man. "No need to apologise darling, I did have a bit of a sad time for a day or two after a colleague passed away, but there's no need to apologise. I imagine working at the ward would have been very tough, I should have come and seen you."

"Can we not make it about me?" he asked with a sigh. He didn't feel like talking about it, how he felt and how it brought back memories that were really not so happy.

Justin kissed her cheek and sighed. "I'm sorry about your colleague." It couldn't be easy, even if there was always danger when in that line of work.

"Don't worry about it, okay? Ernie was there, I was fine." In fact he had told nothing to Ernie about it. His best mate had been so happy to have him around that he didn't want to burst his bubble.

"Sure," Susan said, wincing slightly. Apparently Susan was channelling 'How to Lose Friends and Alienate People' today.

She nodded and kissed him back. "Thank you, darling. It's lovely of you to say," she replied, deciding to leave off the specifics this time, since they had gone down like a lead quaffle with Seamus.

She chuckled mirthlessly and nodded again. "What would you like to talk about dear? I could tell you about Edgar who is somehow managing to sustain simultaneous relationships with a Quidditch player on the Harpies and a burly 'sexy and older' Cursebreaker at Gringotts? Which bears to question whether or not he's actually sleeping?"

Justin looked at Susan and lifted his upper body up, propping himself up with his folded arm. "Hmm, not lovely, I'd say. More.." He cocked his head to the side during his thoughtful pause. "I'd say sincerely. I'm really, really sorry. It can't be easy." He had never lost a colleague, but he liked enough of them to know that it would be devastating if he lost someone.

"How the heck does he manages it?" He asked, genuinely curious. "Relationships, as in boyfriend/girlfriend or just sexual relationships? Because he could totally manage the latter, not the former." Justin blushed a little. He had no relationship experience, but he figured it'd be hard to do so. He was slowly starting to wonder, what the heck was wrong with him.

Susan made an amused huffing sound as Justin as he lifted himself up to look at her with such a Hufflepuffian earnestness. “Well thank you anyway darling,” she replied. “It’s part of the job unfortunately.”

She laughed easily and poked Justin on the hip. “He manages it wonderfully, which worries me slightly,” she admitted. “He’s nineteen and he’s decided that he wants to have as much sex as humanly possible while he’s young before he finds the one. So he’s both slutty and romantic, which is a wonderful combination.” She looked Justin over critically for a second, then grinned. “None of that, you. You are an absolute catch!” She grinned wickedly at him. “As I’ve said before, if you were you straight, a woman, or I a man – I wouldn’t be able to keep my hands off you.” She looked at him intently for a second, before opening her arms for a hug. “And before you even dare think it, there is nothing wrong with you. At all.”

Justin sighed as she hugged him. Everything she said was food for thought really. "That's really lovely of you to say such a wonderful thing, Susan but um.." He swallowed and remained close to her as he spoke. He didn't think he wanted to see her face when he told her what was the next thought in his mind.

"As much of a catch as I am," He certainly didn't want to discredit her opinion of him. "How come I'm alone then?" Justin asked. "I mean, not that I'm absolutely looking but.." He sighed again. "Nevermind, I'm just.. I'm just shaken up, I think."

Susan gave a great snort of laughter. "But? Oh what's a girl to do when a man won't hypothetically date her in a parallel universe," she teased, kissing his cheek again.

The smile left her face and was replaced almost instantly by one of earnestness. "Because finding someone is hard, sweetling. Don't believe what you read in books, or see on television. It can be hard. Especially when you work long hours and don't necessarily meet a whole lot of new people."

Justin looked at Susan and chuckled. "If I wasn't gay, I'd definitely all yours." He told her before kissing her forehead. "But the truth is, even if we keep talking about it, you and Ernie are like family." Funny how they always seem to be talking about fucking each other, but Justin and Ernie were mates as platonic as it comes.

"It's not meeting new people that's hard." He realized that he was working a lot, but it wasn't enough so that he couldn't meet someone and have a normal life. "You, Hannah, Ernie, Seamus.. everyone, you all know what's happened and you know.. me. You know how I am and.. And it scares me to shit." he whispered. "I'm terrified."

"Of course you would darling, I'm a total catch," Susan said with a smirk before nodding. "You're far too much like family for me. Also, far too gay. I don't mind bisexual or pansexual men - they're interested in me. But gay men seem so singularly unimpressed when I crack on to them," she lamented, before laughing at her own joke.

She smiled sadly at him, and hugged him. "We do, and we love you. Maybe it's a matter of letting your defences down, maybe with someone you know? Letting them in and giving it a go. It's like riding a broom, once you do it, you never forget how."

"Well, I do love you and I'm constantly blown away by your personality." He said with a smile. "You know I adore you and it's better that we don't complicate it with sex. Which is exactly why Ernie and I haven't slept together." Of course there was that one very fun snogging session years ago but they'd both had been drinking and had never mentioned it again. Exactly because it would complicate things.

And then there was Seamus. His friend whom he liked very much as a person and they were fucking on a semi-regular basis. He liked to think that it wasn't complicated, but it kind of was.

"Someone I know?" He asked curiously. "But what if.." Justin's mind was trying to think fast of someone he could let in closer. Maybe he'd even broach the topics of the nightmares. "What if.." What if things ended and he was left without a friend afterwards?

"Oh Justin, you say the sweetest things. Go on," Susan said with a broad smile. "You know I'm only joking when I say things like that though. I'd sleep with you no sooner than sleeping with my brother," she said, hugging him and making a face into his shoulder.

She leant back and looked at him seriously. "Darling, sometimes you just have to leap into the unknown." She chose not to think about the fact that she was also scared of doing that, and focused instead on ruffling his hair.

"Oh yeah, I totally know that, Love." He said softly, knowing he felt the same. "You know, there are all sorts of love and choosing someone to be part of our family is equally, if not more important than choosing a boyfriend. Or a girlfriend." He told her, tucking her hair behind her ear.

"What if I scare him off." He finally said seriously. "Sleeping with someone once in a while, it's okay. Very little risks. But having someone sleeping beside me every night? Chances are that something's gonna happen." Justin frowned and settled back on the mattress, laying on his side. "And what if he leaves because of it? Or worse, what if he doesn't feel the same?" Having feelings for someone and not have the returned had some potential for disaster.

"What if.." He closed his eyes, trying to avoid saying this outloud. "I want it, the exclusivity, the romance, then.. the affection." But could he ask for it? Not sure.

"Oh my darling, you're very important to me too," Susan said, tapping his nose lightly with her finger. "I know you'd never drop me or Ern or anyone for your boyfriend."

"What if you don't though," she countered. "Sleeping with someone casually is great, but finding someone to love you and hold you tight when you're scared or irritated or have had a nightmare? That's amazing." She moved so she could look him in the eye. "Anyone who leaves you or doesn't feel the same will face my wrath dear boy, but you can't not do something just because an outcome might hurt you. If we all did that we'd never do anything! We'd just sit at home wrapped in cotton dying of thirst because the water might be poisoned and also of starvation because 'what if I slice my mouth open with the spoon' and that's no way to live at all."

Susan grinned victoriously. "Then you deserve to fucking have it."

"Susan," He said softly, then he sighed. "I kind of already have you and Ernie for that, you know." How many times had he turned up at Ernie's for a decent rest after a terrible nightmare. "But in an other way, I don't want to depend on you both.."

It was all very terrifying and foreign for him. ""I'd never considered romance as something I wanted before but now.." Now he could see people pairing off and being happy and he didn't want to end up alone either.

"I'll take your word for it." He answered in response to her saying it was amazing to have someone who loved you. "I've never had anyone say that to me except friends."

"Never had anyone say what?" Ernie said as he approached his friends, a glass of something blue and alcoholic in his hand. He'd had an exciting morning, but had decided to keep it mostly to himself because he didn't trust himself to talk about it without mentioning Roger, and doing so would definitely be a break in patient confidentiality.

"What did I miss?"

"That they loved me." He said, looking towards Ernie as he walked over to them. "Romantically, I mean."

He glanced at the drink and chuckled. "You didn't bring me one, are you worried about something, Macmillan?" he asked teasingly before patting the mattress. "Come on, squeeze in, it'll be fun."

"Um, you missed.." Justin thought about it for a moment, trying to resume the conversation. "Lots of talk about romance and how I want it but I'm too bloody terrified of it. And how I really adore Susan and you, but it ends there?"

Ernie dropped to his knees and scooted over until he could cuddle with his mates. "I didn't bring you one because I fear for my virtue whenever you're sloshed," he joked, making certgain his drink didn't spill as he lay with his back against Justin's thighs and tossing his own legs over Susan's. "You're a right slut when you're drunk, we all know that."

He sipped from his fruity drink, nodding as Justin explained further. "So in other words, the usual," he teased, smiling at Justin. "I don't know what you're afraid of. I'd love to be in love, and get to have all the benefits that would be nice to have with shagging, though the shagging itself is quite nice." Ernie, however, had actually never been in love or anything close to it, and thus had a terribly romanticized notion of what it was.

Susan snorted at the both of them. "The only one who has to fear for their virtue when drinks are consumed out of the three of us is me, Macmillan."

She smiled sagely and shook her head. "Love is amazing, and wonderful, and painful, and glorious, and the best thing ever," She said. "You two definitely deserve to fall in love. Anyway how was your day, Ernie? Make any house calls? To Quidditch players?"

Ernie looked at Susan, exaggerating a perplexed expression. "You have virtue, Sue? Could have had me fooled."

He was just settling into a nice hazy daydream about love as she'd described it when she asked that. How in the hell did she know about that? It had only just happened that morning, hadn't she? But Roger had said he knew Susan, didn't he... His face flushed bright red for the second time that day. "Um, patient confidentiality," he muttered, dipping his face into his glass for a drink.

Susan snorted and gave him a mock hurt look. At least, as much of a mock hurt look as she could muster when in a pile. "I have virtues! I am very virtuous! I uh... Well... Ummm..." She looked at Justin for a moment. "Whatever the virtues are I have them. Yeah."

Susan gave Justin the sort of smile that would have made lesser men squeal. "Our boy Ernie here made a house call on a dear friend of mine. Ernie can't break patient confidentiality, but I certainly can."

"Well, you're a brilliant footstool - that's a virtue, right?" Ernie teased.

Ernie was briefly torn as he knew that if he didn't tell the story himself then Susan would. He could just stay quiet as she told the whole tale, but hell, he deserved to have some fun too. "A certain person. Who's fit as all hell, and answered the door wearing nothing but his bloody pants, then leads me up a set of stairs, and do you have any idea how hard it is to be professional when I've got one of the most gorgeous arses I've ever seen right in my face? Anyway, it turns out I've snogged him before at a club we went to one night, except I was too drunk on gin and tonics to remember more than a gorgeous body."

Justin didn't want to start a war of virtues, since it seemed like all three of them were virtuous in some way even though there was nothing to be ashamed of when it came to sex.

"Okay, fit Quidditch player with a great are. Should I feel threaten?" Justin said jokingly. "But yeah, okay, you snogged him once and you didn't ask for a repeat?"

"Of course you should feel threatened," Ernie joked back. "Your arse is all right, but nothing's quite like a quidditch arse, don't you know."

He looked at his friends with an overexaggerated pout. "No snogging or shagging patients, remember? Though apparently he wasn't the only player I snogged that night, and I possibly may have shagged one of them. Again, too many gin and tonics, but the bloke promised to ask his teammate and let me know which one of them I shagged - and hopefully if it's the other one, he'll be interested in a repeat! I love a man with a sizeable bat."
