Quidditch Match: Pride vs Bats
Who: Anyone, add your tags if you decide to thread something out at Finnigan's!
What: Match recap, Bats vs Pride
Where: Finnigan's
When: Starting at 5pm Thursday, 9/11
Rating: SFW probably (though some mentioned nudity, thanks to some over-zealous fans)

The game kicked off under clear blue skies slowly going dark. Charms were in place to light up the field as the night grew darker. It was clear from the beginning that the Bats Chasers weren't on their game, mostly due to the presence of a reserve player who was visibly nervous. Pride took an early lead, scoring ten goals within the first hour of the game--the Bat's Keeper kept getting distracted by naked women dancing in the stands, who were finally removed from the stands.

After that it was a slower race to see who could score more goals, with the Bats Chasers finally getting into the swing of things, though they weren't as polished as they usually were. In hour two of the game, the Snitch was spotted for the first time but both Seekers were unsuccessful in their pursuit. Also in hour two, Finbar Quigley took a Bludger to the shoulder but refused to let a reserve player come in to replace him.

Halfway through the second hour there was a freak hailstorm, which no one had foreseen. The weather forecast had been clear to that point. Along with the hail, the wind picked up and made for a unpleasant half hour of play, with the Seekers mistaking the hail for the Snitch several times. It cleared up almost as suddenly as it came, leaving people to wonder if some sort of spellwork was in play. During the hailstorm, there were several incidents of hexes in the stands, when fans of the opposing sides accused each other of causing the weather anomolies. All offenders were removed, and luckily riots were avoided.

The final hour of the game was the most interesting, when a group of giggling witches Banished the robes of all the male players on the pitch, leaving them naked except for their pads for the last fifteen minutes of the game. The Snitch was spotted again, and the Seekers went into a complicated dance through the air, with the Bats' Seeker just barely edging out Pride's to end the game. The final score was Bats 300, Pride 250.

Stats:
Final Score: 300 (Bats) vs 250 (Pride
Snitch: Bats
#Goals (scored) Bats: 15
#Goals (scored) Pride: 25
Game Length: 3 hours, 32 minutes
Freak Weather: Yes
Bats Injuries: 1 (minor)
Pride Injuries: n/a
Random Event: Yes (2)
Fights: No
Fan fights: Yes

(OOC Notes: I've made some assumptions regarding the Quidditch League in order to facilitate gameplay. For one, I've assumed that the first team listed in the schedule the Home team, and the game is played on their Pitch. I've assumed the pitches are near whatever town the team is named for, mostly so I could look at the weather for the area. We know that there is no time limit for Quidditch games, and some have run a week or longer...however, that doesn't work for a game setting unless set up in advance, so I've limited the random draw to 6 hours--I can do longer games, but not on short notice because that would require some IC consequences. Lastly, I've assumed that there is an afternoon and evening game, with afternoon games starting at 1pm and evening games starting at 5pm, with overlap if the preceding game hasn't finished. If you have questions or suggestions for future games, let me know! For actual game play, I used a random generator for a variety of options: weather, injuries, interesting events, fights, etc.)

When Cormac had ordered the Pride of Portree cake, something about it hadn’t sat completely right with Melinda. She had loved the idea, of course, and the cake was one of her favourites to make, but it seemed a little unfair for one team to be supported like that without the counterweight of support for the other team. By no means did Melinda support the Bats, she didn’t support any of the teams, rather her support and loyalties went to individual players, such as Vikesh and Roger and most recently, Oliver in particular.

So after Cormac had picked up his cake, a Blackberry Mousse Cake with Gold Biscuit base and the Pride of Portree logo decorated on top in sparkling gold, Melinda had quickly changed into something more fitting of a Quidditch evening at the pub, and headed to Finnigan’s, carrying her own contribution to the evening: A Black Velvet Cake with scarlet Cream Cheese Icing and the Ballycastle Bats logo on top the exact same size as the Pride of Portree cake. Placing the cake next to the other one, she had to admit that she was a little pleased that Cormac had taken the time to including her in his promotion, though left the Bats cake without any explanation.
