Journal - So this happened today
 photo cc08d877f46b4268d2e483f5eea549a2_zps2lxefl6j.gif

Page looks very damp and the ink prone to run, water spots also marking the page

I'm wet. I'm soaked.

I did get it stopped.

And just so you know, enchanted water does not react to spells the same as real water.

Not the first time I've had a bad reaction with an estate sale buy.

So very wet.

You're welcome to have a look at it, but not inside my workshop. You can have the bloody thing, actually. I have no idea what set it off, but there's something wrong with it.

I'm pretty sure I also don't want it in my studio. I've got wooden floors and artwork leaning against the walls that I want to sell at some point.

I'll have a word with my colleagues and see if we can come up with something if you really want it off your hands.

It'd have to go outside at least until the trigger is discovered. My workroom is warded to the gills but it got a fair share of damage. Enchanted water from unknown spells is no joke. I'm not a slouch but I have some serious clean up ahead of me.

Thanks. If you can think of something, let me know. I'm going to find someone's yard to stick it in for now as well.

Is it a photograph or a painting? I can't quite tell. Braith, my mentor, thinks she has somewhere she can safely put it, but which it is changes who she needs to get in to help us out. Between my two colleagues they've got quite the list of artist friends to call on.

And yes, art-related spells are all a bit weird and personalised, which makes them no fun to work with for pretty much everyone but the original artist. Well, or specialists apparently.

Maybe I should leave spell directions for my art in trust just in case.

Painting. An older one. At least a couple of centuries on it, probably more. I'm not knowledgeable enough to be able to tell you.

I'm suspecting they were very personalized. I might be able to break down the charm, but I won't be able to do it in my work room.

Excellent news. Apparently the painting contacts are better than the photography ones. And yes that age makes sense with the spellwork starting to fail and the subject. I expect between us we can probably date it to within twenty years, more likely closer to five in either direction. But we have the history of magical art training to a whole other level thanks to how apprenticeships work. Looking I'd guess closer to three centuries than two, but I'm not the most experienced around here.

We artists are a weird bunch. Some things stay consistent for centuries, other things change very couple of decades or depending on the mood or skill of the artist. I don't think anyone should be doing this without waterproof boots and clothes they don't mind covering in water and/or paint (sometimes the whole thing can break down and the result isn't pretty).

Braith says it will probably take a week or so for her friend to be set to travel, if you have somewhere safe to store it until then we'd be grateful.
