Journal - Please to not be doing.
Finally got a couple of pictures developed to share.

Boys and girls, today we are going to discuss what NOT to do to wildlife. Again.

As fascinating as this job was, I also ended up spending more time on a broom than I think I ever have in one go. Being on the short list to assist the ministry and the ICW with magical animals can be quite entertaining along with horrifying, but I'm not sure my body is ever going to be the same.

Now that I've gotten your attention, here is what I spent several days this past week rounding up and helping to unspell (a job much harder than you'd suspect):

I'm pretty sure we found them all. Whale hide is surprisingly hard to be uncharmed, but as they were all enjoying their time in the clouds, I suspect it might have been that they didn't WANT to go back in the water.

But if you happen to see one we missed, let us know, yeah?

I am really sure that we missed the flying clouds of shrimp and krill

I'm very glad I only had animal wrangling duties, and didn't have to deal with the slew of memory charms and such. And minimal paperwork for me.

But boys and girls, let's not charm the giant water mammals to fly in the sky, okay? My body still hasn't forgiven me the broom work.

Fuck.

Hope they're all okay. And that someone catches the group of twats who did that. Gotta be a group, right? Or are they just more susceptible to magic. Because something that size really should require more than one person. Right?

Those pictures are gorgeous though. Which is a minor fringe benefit, I guess.

They are. The place was pretty cloudy and foggy, and so the moisture content was enough to keep them from coming to harm. It was probably a group effort, though it was harder to unspell them because I think they liked being in the air (I still suspect they're much smarter and maybe even a bit magical in their own right than most want to admit to).

It is definitely a fringe benefit. I think I'm going to frame a couple of them.

Glad to hear it! I've found even non magical animals can be a whole lot wilier than you think they will be.

Good plan.

Oh, I just remembered. Do you still have my dragon notes? No rush if you're not done with them but I'd like them back at some point.

They certainly can be, yes.

I do, yes. I've been meaning to get them back to you. They've been such a help, I have a sheaf of notes all of my own now. Any time you want them, I'd be happy to drop them by. I'd rather not trust them all to owl, since I know you worked so hard to gather the information.

I'm generally free in an afternoon aside from Wednesday, plus Monday and Tuesday evenings are free too. If you don't want me pre-caffeine I'd advise after 2pm! Working nights is a bit of a bugger that way.

Just let me know when you're coming so I don't fuck off and do errands or have an adventure or something. I'd send my owl for them, but I remember how much I let you have and she can be pretty huffy even if she's capable of carrying a big load.

My goodness how beautiful! How graceful they look too.

I'll work your broom properly when you come home.

Okay, yeah, that was too cheesy, even for me. I do mean it though: I'll draw you a bath and work those sore muscles...

As wrong as Charming those whales are, you should really get those photos enlarged. They'd look amazing in your flat.

I will take you up on that. Ye gads, I'm sore. You know me, I'm not normally up on a broom hardly ever anymore. That one leg I think is permanently cramped.

And yet I think it was worth it, because they were so beautiful, Rosie. I wish you could have been there. I think I'm going to enlarge a couple of those and frame them, definitely.

Whereas I'm riding on a regular basis.

Vai de mine! You need to get here. I'm not used to going without for this long!

I wish I could have been there, too. Can't wait to go travelling with you.

I'll be there in just a bit, my lovely. And we'll rectify your going without.

Someday! I look forward to it. It will be such fun.

My goodness. While that is certainly pretty to look at, those poor creatures. I can't imagine not wanting to go back in the water, but I suppose to each it's own. I'll be on the look out.

I think everything always sort of looks at the different as something they want, and whales are, I've always suspected, much smarter than they appear on the surface. The merpeople have never confirmed it for me.

I suppose that's true. It's always greener and all that. As long as they're not harmed.

I'm sorry, mate, I shouldn't have laughed but you have to admit that is fairly whimsical and a fair bit of decent magic.
