As a response to the slight hangover she'd felt on Tuesday (quickly banished by a hangover potion), Lucy had ate very healthily on both Tuesday and Wednesday. By Thursday, though, she was craving something sweet and so she flooed to Monument Alley after she'd eaten her prepared sandwich to find something to fill the corners. Her choice of destination was simple, and she pushed the door open to Sweet Nothings with pleasant anticipation. She'd been in before, mostly on very quick trips. Today, she had a little more time.

There was no one immediately apparent in the shop, but Lucy approached the counter anyway. "Hello?" she called. The door had been open, so someone must be in the building.

Every day, it was the same. People came in either at the beginning of their lunch break or at the end, so every day, there was a lull where Melinda could eat her own lunch. Of course, sometimes people came in just a little earlier than she had expected, and that was perfectly fine, too. It just meant, that she wasn’t out front right away.

Quickly she swallowed down her mouthful of bean salad and wiped her mouth before she went out front to find the witch whose voice she had heard. “Hello,” she smiled, “my apologies. I hope you didn’t wait too long. How may I help you?”

Lucy grinned at the woman who approached. She'd seen her before, she thought, but she'd seen Bryn far more often - whether that was by accident or design. Now that Bryn was no longer working in Sweet Nothings the balance would most likely swing the other way. "Hi," she said cheerfully. "No, not long at all."

Lucy surveyed the cakes available thoughtfully. "I'm just looking for something sweet," she said. "Nothing specific, really." Her attention was caught by a display labelled 'Quidditch Cakes'. She'd seen the announcement of them in the journal, but actually seeing the cakes in person was a different matter entirely. "Ooh," she said. "One of those would be perfect." The question one - which one?

Melinda didn’t know the other woman, but she remembered her from last year’s charity raffle where she had sold the tickets and had won that exceptional date with Bryn. Bryn had only spoken positively of the date, and straight off that made Melinda like the other witch. “Well, you’ve certainly come to the right place, then,” she chuckled; it was a silly joke, but the truth nevertheless.

Following the woman’s gaze to the Quidditch cake, her smile brightened. “A Quidditch Cake? Sure, she said, and pulled the tray of cakes, cut into bite sizes for tasting and placed it on the counter between the two of them. “Would you like to try one or do you already know which one you’d like?”

"I've no idea which one I'd like!" Lucy said, smiling as Melinda brought forward the tray. "I see you're a woman after my own heart," she added. "Very organised." Not every shop would have thought to have tasting pieces ready, and Lucy appreciated the attention to detail it suggested.

She looked over the pieces, trying to recall the details from the list she'd seen but failing to remember which cake had been associated with which team or colour. "There were a couple of tea ones, I think?" she asked. "Could you point them out?"

”Thank you!” Melinda beamed at the other witch. Being complimented on her creations was nothing new to her, but on her organization? That was a new on, and she appreciated it being noticed, and even more so having it pointed out to her. “You should see my sprinkles folders,” she chuckled as she levitated two pieces of cake unto a small plate and presented it to her customer.

“The Falmouth Falcons,” she said, pointing out the dark grey and white cake, “is an Earl Grey poppy seed tea cake with a citrus butter cream filling and a cover of vanilla fondant, and this one,” she pointed to the green and yellow layered cake, “is the Kenmare Kestrels, which is a green tea and lemon Opera cake.” Placing the plate in front of the witch, she summoned a cake fork from the basket and handed it over. “Please, be my guest.”
