RP: Where have you been?
Who: Susan and Adrian
What: Adrian hasn't heard from Susan since they kissed, and he'd thought she was a friend - well, as much as he has friends.
Where: Susan's home in Hampstead
When: Tuesday 9/9/04 - late at night
Rating: Potential for NSFW language & snogging

Adrian hadn't heard from Susan in a few days, which wasn't totally out of character - they were hardly buddies after all - but after you had snogged a sort-of-friend and business contact (she was a customer first and foremost after all) it might be nice to answer one of his journal notes in the coming two weeks.

Which is how he found himself outside her house in Hampstead, in the middle of the night, and it was cold and he couldn't help but think that Alicia would be laughing at him hysterically for all of this (but he also couldn't help the smaller part of him that thought maybe she'd be a tiny bit proud of him for not just forgetting Susan ever existed).

He knocked on the door and hit the bell just for good measure but didn't want to be the bloke banging down the door at 11pm on a weeknight so after that he waited patiently. One thing about potions making - he could stand fairly still and just wait for quite a while if he had to.

Susan rolled her eyes and looked at him through narrowed eyes. "I have indeed, been drinking whiskey without you Mr. Pucey. A colleague I helped train got buried this afternoon, and I felt rather strongly that getting shit faced was a wonderful idea."

She stared at him as steadily - which wasn't very - and with as much dignity as she could muster - which wasn't very much given that she'd nearly thrown up in someone else's purse that evening. Finally, she rolled her eyes and acquiesced, letting him into the house. "Thank you," she said as evenly as possible, leading him down the hall to the bottom reception room with it's fire connected to the floo network. "Why are you here anyway?"

"Well, seeing as you haven't answered my journal notes, I figured I'd come see why. Seems I have my answer, you've had a rough few days," he stated matter-of-factly before using her floo to quickly walk between her house and his flat, pocketing some hangover and nausea potions, and then back to her place.

"Here you go, let's get you up to bed," he waved the potions in front of her as if leading a horse with a carrot.

He knew she was going to protest again so instead he turned her around with gentle hands, padding just behind her in his loafers. When she stopped, indicating her bedroom (he assumed) he toed out of his shoes (it was impolite to do otherwise, he figured) and kept guiding her.

"Tell me about your friend," he said, waiting for her to take the initiative and get ready for sleep. He wasn't turning over the potions until she was comfortably (safely) in bed with water by her side anyway.

"Yes," Susan lied with as much blandness as she could muster, purposefully not thinking about Alicia or Eddie. "That's the reason. Sorry about that."

Sighing, she was about to argue when he turned her around and gently manhandled her in the direction of the stairs. Any further protests were cut off by the intense amount of concentration it took her to not fall down them. Eventually, they made it to the top and she mechanically walked towards her bedroom, pausing while he took off his shoes. She decided in her inebriated state that it was better to not wonder why he'd done that, and focus on not throwing up.

"Her name was Sofiya Chernoknizhnik, she was twenty, Muggleborn. The rest of her squad were stunned but she went down into the cellar to rescue the children anyway, without waking for backup," she said, walking into her wardrobe and slipping on one of her least attractive slips. "There was one of her and twelve of them. It took them about six hours to finally kill her." Her words were hollow, not angry, or sad, just hollow. Sighing again, she sat down cross legged against her pillows and looked up at him. "Can I have one of the potions?"

Adrian listened with patience, nodding along with her story and truly sympathizing no matter his more basic desire to say well she should have waited for back up now shouldn't she have because a 6 hour long death was awful no matter the circumstances.

When she was on the bed and dressed for sleep - Adrian swore to himself he wasn't looking at her! - he shook his head, "Water first," and summoned a cup from the kitchen, heading into the bath to fill it with cool water and bringing it to the bed for her. He sat on the side of the bed, bringing one foot up and under him as he watched her, waiting for her to drink.

Telling Adrian Chernoknizhnik's fate made Susan feel better in an odd way. His shock and empathy made her feel like less of a soft touch for being so affected by the death. "Thank you," she said, simply.

Lifting her eyebrows as he brought her the water and sat down close to her, she nevertheless accepted the cup wordlessly. "Thank you," she said, drinking it. With a sigh, she accepted the hangover potion and drank it with a face. "So what does bring you to my door at eleven o'clock in the evening, Adrian?"

Adrian nodded with her thanks and gave her a small mile after she'd had the potions. "Believe it or not, I was worried about you. Hadn't heard from you in a long while, and I like to think you didn't run off simply because you kissed me."

He sat down next to her on the bed and leaned close to her. "So tell me, what can I do to take your mind off things, even if for a little while."

Susan smiled wanly. "Yes well, I had a conversation after the fact with someone that made me realise that perhaps I'd behaved poorly in kissing you, however nice of a kiss it was."

She looked up at him, and felt her lips pouting in spite of herself. Slowly, she drew him down and kissed him. They kissed for nearly a minute until something in the drunk vestiges of her brain kicked in and she pushed him away with a gasp, mortified. "Oh fucking hell, I can't kiss you. I'm in love with Eddie, but more importantly Alicia is in love with you and I refuse to be a whore and kiss people my friends like."
