RP: Birthday drinks
Who: Ginny + OPEN
What: It's Ginny's birthday so she goes to the pub, of course.
Where: Finnigan's
When: Aug 11th 2005
Rating: TBD (knowing Ginny there will be language!)

Turning a quarter of a century old didn't bother Ginny, though she figured from the increase in floo calls and owls from Molly, her was certainly getting to her mother.

She'd woken up to a lovely gift from Seamus, and tea delivered to her bed by Jane before the two ran off to work together. After work, Jane had a date, so Ginny opened the other gifts that arrived via owl throughout the day, and then helped Jane get ready and settled in one of her new books but the quiet of the flat got to her quickly and she stood, determined to do something with herself for her birthday. She threw on a pair of jeans and a cute t-shirt and brought herself down to the Pub for a drink. Even if she ended up drinking alone, she figured being out and about was better than being at home alone.

Ordering a pint, she grabbed a seat at the bar.

Katie listened to the conversation, finishing her drink and ordering another, "I'd go mad trying to draw a stick figure; but I can colour with the best of them, if I say so myself," she said with a mock gloating attitude. She enjoyed being in this company. It was like being back in school.

Dean was drinking steadily, despite the lack of alcohol, trying to distract himself from the fact Katie had thought he and Seamus were a couple. That had been irritating when people thought it and he didn't know about his feelings. Now, he was just realising, it felt even worse.

"Don't underestimate stick figures," he said sagely. It was amazing what you could do with a stick figure if you took your time. Unlike certain friends he could mention who just made them look dirty. "Really though, colouring is great, and not everyone needs to be able to draw. For one thing I'd not be making money the way I do."

For once, Seamus was grateful to have work to attend to. Usually, he left his friends at the bar grudgingly, and handed other business as quickly as he could, while still being friendly. Today, though... Today he was happy to take his time mixing up another round of Ginny's cocktails - and then get another customer their round and have a brief chat - and then nip into the kitchen to fetch Dean his cheeseburger, plus some chips for the others to share.

"Here we go," he announced as he returned, a forced brightness in his tone. "I brought food and booze. Now what're we talking about?"

"Thank you, darling," Ginny said, blowing Seamus a kiss when he handed her another drink. "We were just getting art lessons from Dean," she giggled.

"And I don't underestimate stick figures, though I've seen Katie's doodles back in school and she might be telling the truth," she shot a quick, bright smile at Katie so the joke would be understood.

Katie nodded in agreement, I'd try to copy Quidditch plays... not good. Based on my handwriting I'd make an amazing healer," she said with a laugh, and took one of the chips Seamus offered. "Seamus is amazing."

Dean grabbed his burger and immediately took a huge bite. "Bu' 's jus'," he said, trying to speak with his mouth full and then scowled at himself and chewed and swallowed. "Sorry. I thought quidditch plays were just blobs and lines usually though?" he asked. He'd only been on the team very briefly but he'd seen play boards a few times.

His eyes flicked to Seamus who seemed to be busy doing his actual job rather than chatting very much. Didn't bother him though. He'd mostly come for food. "Also I don't have the patience to give actual lessons. I mock and want to correct everything myself," he said. He may have been known to do that at times unless someone had half an idea of what they were doing.

"I am amazing," Seamus agreed, catching Katie's comment as she took one of the chips. He gave Dean a broad, conspiratorial grin - and then wished he hadn't. Katie did seem to be taking their word for it, which was more than could be said for some people, but still... "If you could pass that on to any of the gorgeous male Quidditch players you end up working with, it would be much appreciated.

He nodded, attempting a serious expression. "He's always been very rude about my attempts at pictionary," he pointed out. "I just make him play charades now, we're at least equally bad at that." As much as they both tended to talk with their hands, you'd think they'd be better - but usually, Seamus was the only person who had a hope of guessing Dean's clues and vice versa.
