RP: Eyes on the street!
Who: Angelina, and OPEN
What: Cooling down with photography and not looking where you're going
Where: Monument Alley
When: Wednesday 22nd July, Mid-morning
Rating: NSFW possible (language)

Angelina was, quite frankly, hot and sweaty and maybe a bit disgusting because she'd just finished a long run through the muggle and magical streets of London finishing up with twice around Monument Alley park. She needed to get home and have a shower, but she was buzzing with adrenaline and quite frankly she still needed to do some sort of warm down, even if it was just walking down the street and taking some photos of the shops as she passed them by. She slowed as she came to the edge of the park and bounced on her toes a couple of times, wrapping the jacket that had been around her waist back around her body and fished her small camera out of her pocket with one hand while shuffling the hairband out of her hair with the other, letting her braids loose again as the band snapped back around her wrist.

She fiddled with the camera for a couple of seconds, shuffling the settings to something appropriate for the type of photos she'd likely take and then moved out into the street. She was busy looking up at the different signs and types of buildings as she had a few times before, and wasn't totally aware of where she was going, meaning she had a few near-misses with different people as she walked along. Her reflexes mostly saved her. Of course it could only so long before she at least brushed against someone rather more than a tiny bit. "Sorry, sorry," she said as she fairly bounced off the person she'd just near enough walked into.

"Yeah, and cats don't usually like the wetter part." Though Bast liked water, but it was a part of her breed. "All the wildlife,t hough, it's always a call to them. Perhaps an interactive spellwork for her to enjoy inside as a distraction from the out door stuff," he suggested.

Rolf flashed a grin at her and the camera. He wasn't used to being photographed, per se, but he didn't mind. His hand reached up to idly scritch Bast, who was looking quite regal with her head over his shoulder. "Your camera is nicer than mine, I think," he said. "But then, I only use mine for the shelter animals, really."

"Yeah, I can usually keep her entertained while I'm about. I don't always set anything up before I leave though, which can be a mistake." She was doing okay so far since she'd moved since the majority of her time out hadn't been the long days of training she was accustomed to, but Smudge could make trouble in the time it took her to walk into the next room so that wasn't exactly helpful.

Angelina happily took a couple of photos of Rolf scratching Bast, who basked in the attention as all cats did. "I make some money on the side through photography, or I did before I moved back, so I have a couple of decent cameras," she said as she paused and re-framed the shot. "Although I've made the link to the photos in the journals now. You do very nicely," she said and took another shot before crouching for a different angle. "Cute animals are always a good draw," she said.

"Oh, that's interesting," Rolf said. He'd met several professional photophraphers before but never had a chance to talk to them overly much, aside from keeping them from killing themselves in the field. "Most of the photographers I've met were in the field, when I was studying creatures there." Which was still a bit beyond what his leg would allow, though he'd made leaps and bounds compared to how he'd felt just after it had happened.

He grinned, feeling a small surge of pride. "Thanks, but it's all the animals, really. I have to do something to help some of them find good homes. I heard it's a thing that some of the Muggles do, so I figured it couldn't hurt to use the journals to help out with all of that."

"Ah, well I'm guessing most of them weren't quidditch players first," she said, amused. "I mostly did parties. Wildlife stuff too, but just what I could get to on my days off, oh and anything with the night sky. Basically anything that takes my fancy. It didn't always have to pay." She attempted to get a shot looking up at Bast, but unfortunately that also ended up looking up Rolf's nose, even from a distance, and she knew she'd end up scrapping that one.

Angie nodded and grinned. "Yeah, I got Smudge from a shelter, and I'm not really looking for another pet, but the photos made me waver, so I think you're going about it right," she said. She jumped back up again and turned her camera off.

"That's enough of that," she said as she tucked the camera away again. "I'll let you have one if they turn out well," she offered.

"I don't know, I never got to talk terribly much with most of them that wasn't along the lines of 'please don't do that, you'll get yourself killed' or 'you're bloody crazy' or such," he half-joked.

"I'm always glad to hear that people look at shelters for their companions," Rolf said happily. "It's good to hear." A shelter animal wasn't for everyone, he'd admit, but for many they made the perfect companions. "Oh good to know. I was hoping they'd be effective." Adoptions were a little up, though not quite as much as he'd like.

"Thanks. I'd appreciate a copy of one if they do. I don't have terribly many of the two of us since she was a kitten." Then his sisters had occasionally taken a picture, but otherwise, he had only a handful.

A surprised snort of laughter escaped Angie when he described what photographers had said to him. "Yeah, okay, that's understandable. Someone said something similar to me when I climbed a tree to get photos one time because I hadn't got my broom with me," she said and shrugged. She'd learned after that to bring her broom if there was any chance she'd need to get higher shots. It was so much easier for her than lugging around appropriate ladders and such like.

Angie shrugged as if to say it was no big deal. "We always tried to get family pets from shelters, I just continued the trend," she said. She'd loved helping choose a new pet when she was about nine or so, and had been so sad when she'd had to leave the floppy dog at home when she'd gone to Hogwarts.

"Oh, in that case I'll do you the best of the lot regardless. I should be able to find one or two that are good," she said, pleased she'd be able to do something simple but friendly for Rolf. She wanted to develop the photos anyway so letting him have a couple wouldn't be a hardship at all.

She bounced on her feet a couple of times and looked regretful. "Sorry to do this, but I'm getting kind of cold and cold and sweaty is fecking horrible," she said, shifting from foot to foot. "I should get home and get showered," she said. "It was really lovely meeting you though."

"There was the one time I'm pretty sure the guy on the broom ran into half the trees inthe forest, taking pictures. I started following him from the ground and trying to warn him, but alas." He grinned. He hadn't thought of that in ages; he'd been all of what, nine? They'd been in Africa at the time, down in the jungle.

"It's always good, though. If you ever need another friend, or just want to give out some cuddles, feel free to come by. There's always animals willing to give a hug even if you don't have room to take them home."

"Well, thank you. Much appreciated," Rolf said.

"That's all right. Go get cleaned up and have an excellent day. Do come by the shop sometime. I'll set aside some treats for your Smudge."

Part way through a delighted snigger Angie realised she was laughing at someone's misfortune and had to bite her lips to stop further laughter. She cleared her throat and smiled cheekily. "The good thing with being a professional player is that you become pretty aware of when you're heading for something you shouldn't. not all the time, but a decent chunk. So I'm usually relatively good at avoiding running into things." Not always, as her myriad past bruises would attest.

"Oh, well that one I'll take you up on. Extra cuddles are always lovely. Even if Smudge gets huffy with me afterwards because I smell of stranger. Can't wait to see what she thinks when I get home smelling of Bast." She wrinkled her nose and pulled a face. Smudge wasn't always a fan of other cats, or other animals in general.

"No problem at all," she said. "I'll be sure to see you soon. And thanks in advance for the treats." Grinning one last time Angie raised a hand and set off down the street, navigating between shoppers easily before ducking into an alley and apparating herself back to her flat where Smudge greeted her with an interested mew from the next room.
