Journal: Happy 4th of July!
Happy Fourth of July to my fellow transplants. Yes, I'm not American, but I'm HALF American. But I also spent like half of my life IN AMERICA, too. We used to always drag my Aunt & Uncle into Boston to see the fireworks at the Esplanade and it was always totally magical. Today makes me miss my family there, my cousin Andie especially, and so I'm sending out love from across the ocean and toasting a delicious Kentucky bourbon here at the house.

Happy Fourth! While I am also not technically American, I've got a plethora of cousins who are, so if Pride wasn't this weekend I might have popped over there for fireworks, cookout food and cheap beer.

I would have gone over, too, but Andie convinced her parents to go to Washington, DC for the long weekend to see the national show. They've even got tickets to an exhibition quodpot game while they're there.

Well, it just sounds like you and I need to make plans to visit. I've got no plans in September, if you'd be interested in doing something for Labor Day?

Oh, absolutely! How about an old fashioned New England road trip? Complete with leaf peeping and a kickass Labor Day bbq?

Where are your cousins?

I am totally down for a road trip as long as I get a chance to drive at least some of it!

They're all over the place, but a good number of them are in New York City and Miami, or suburbs right outside those cities.

In that case we start in Boston and pick up my convertible. (My only worldly possession from my years there) My aunt & uncle keep it in their garage for when I visit.

Where'd you like to drive to?

Boston to New York is what, three or four hours? I'm sure we could manage that.

4-5 hours in my experience, but completely doable. I'm in.

Happy 4th, mate. Did you set off any firecrackers?

Oh no, I'm too in love with my gorgeous hands to attempt anything of that sort, but I used to do sparklers with family every year. I prefer to toast my holidays.
