Pride Friday: OPEN
Who: Charlie, and OPEN for multiple threads
What: Wingbeat for Pride weekend
Where: Wingbeat
When: Friday 3rd July
Rating: NSFW probably

Wingbeat was already getting busy for the evening, and with both floors having undergone the same makeover there were assorted pride flags and banners stuck to the walls. A couple had stray political-type messages were on them, but mostly there were just rainbow-themed decorations. Because Charlie was Charlie there were also an assortment of pride flags, not just the rainbows most people were familiar with. He'd also made a point of getting bi, ace, pan, and trans pride flags. There were far less of them than the generic flags but he'd had compliments passed on to him from the staff from a few people, and someone had actually said to him it was good to see, completely unaware he was the owner. That had made him smile.

There was also glitter everywhere, very little of which had been provided by Wingbeat, well, outside of the sparkling fairy dust wands, and that glitter dissipated. They'd cleared up the previous night but it had all appeared again. Both floors were pounding to the beat of his two favourite DJs playing a mix of mostly upbeat music from both the magical and muggle world. There was quite the emphasis on Pride-type songs and known LGBTQ+ artists, but pretty much anything upbeat was happening.

As with the previous night he'd spotted a few people wincing at the noise as they entered downstairs and ducking quickly into the sound-dampened area with a look of relief.

Both bars were doing a pretty brisk trade in some of the cocktails and shots Charlie, Dominic and Genie had tried out. All the cocktails for the evening were rimmed with rainbow sprinkles and came with fairy dust 'wands' that meant there were sparkling drinks everywhere. Although a few people had just got rid of the extras right away or requested not to have them. Plus of course there was the usual trade in flirting via drinks with incredibly rude names, or dares to try and make the bar staff blush. Sadly for the punters most of them were now pretty immune, although there were one or two Charlie tended to have a reaction to.

Charlie, Romilda, + Open

Romilda waved to Charlie from her spot at the outskirts of the dance floor. She made her way to him and gave an approving nod to his relaxed Ace-pride outfit. She'd chosen a mini skirt and oversized, bright yellow blazer to represent pansexuality herself. "Tonight is amazing, thank you," she said, sincerely, knowing that Pride was important to both of their communities.

She finished her Italian Greyhound and set the glass on a passing server's tray with a smile of thanks. Looking to Charlie to said over the music, "Are you done your rounds yet? Escort me to the bar for another drink."

Charlie's smile spread into a real grin when he spotted Romilda's wave. He'd headed out of the flat far before she'd needed to leave but he was fairly sure she would show up one of the nights and he was glad she'd spotted him when he was away from the bar. "And thank you, I'm glad you're having fun," he said, leaning in and giving her a spontaneous kiss on the cheek. He didn't do it often, but he was feeling good tonight and it was less odd to greet her like that outside of their flat. "It's good to see you here," he said.

He nodded readily to her question, he'd been far enough around to feel justified in heading back to the bar. "No freebies though," he admonished and held out his arm slightly in indication of the direction. It was in a position she could grab if she wanted to, or be wrapped around her back, or just go ahead of him.

Charlie's spontaneous hello had Romi's grin bright, big, and genuine. She was probably the most promiscuous person she knew, but affection was different, and certainly not her forte, but with Charlie she'd always felt a little bit more comfortable about letting her walls down. And she loved it when he was in such a good mood. Romilda stepped so that his arm was around her back and let him lead her to the bar off the dance floor.

She laughed at his warning and put her hand on his chest in a friendly - non-threatening - gesture along with the chuckle. "I know better than to even ask, and on a night like tonight? I wouldn't dream of it." She gestured the dance floor behind them, "You did an incredible job, roomie, seriously. This place is packed and it's just the beginning. The party tomorrow sounds like it's going to be even bigger." The admiration and pride were obvious in her voice.

Charlie was happy to wrap one arm around Romilda, although at least one person they passed on the way to the bar gave the pair of them a look which was less than friendly. Or possibly just disbelieving. He wasn't quite sure what the man was objecting to, or reading into their relationship but unless the man was a seer he doubted they were being read right. Not that Charlie cared.

He grinned, glad she understood the business sense of it all. Besides she ran a business of her own, he was pretty sure she understood. He could have given her a free drink of course, but it made stock harder to keep track of, and with these nights having been so busy that was important. "Thank you, the staff have been great too, I'm just glad it worked out." He'd been pretty hopeful that having multiple events for Pride would go down well, and there was usually a decent crowd for LGBTQ+ nights, but this was beyond what he could have hoped. "So long as we can get rid of the glitter at the end I'll be fine!" he joked. He'd learned how to get his voice to carry over the music while not shouting too much. He still ended up with a sore throat every few weeks, but it was worth it.

"You're having fun then?" he asked. He knew she had been seeing someone, not that he'd ever met them, but he had no clue if it was still going on. He'd not seen her appear heartbroken so either it was still ongoing or had ended amicably, or of course she'd hidden it well.

Romilda saw the looks as well and simply arched an eyebrow back at them. No one had the guts to question her outright, she knew, besides maybe the man beside her and Emma. "How are the staff doing in general? A lot of extra hours this week, I'd imagine. But you're more than making up for it in sales," she said, happy to talk business with him anytime. Well, his business - she rarely brought up either of her businesses outside of work, of course.

She nodded at his question, "Taking it all in. I doubt I'll be breaking any hearts this year," she hurumphed - Franklin hadn't come, feeling 'out of his element' at such a big party, though he'd attended a luncheon with her earlier in the day, it was a muggle fundraiser for an LGBTQ+ rights legal fund.

"They're good, great actually. Took a bit of settling but I think I've found where they fit best. I told you Genie helped me with all the extra drinks for Pride, right?" He thought he'd told her about that afternoon complete with a lot of alcohol and Dominic flirting with him. Although he was pretty sure she'd been at the shop that afternoon and he'd basically eaten and gone to bed when he got home because it seemed safer. "But they've been great, I'd never do this shit without them being supportive, but yeah extra decorating, extra glitter cleanup, and more vigilance against discrimination. Worth it though."

He nudged her slightly and smiled. "Oh, I'm sure you can manage that from a distance," he said. He might not appreciate people sexually but he could see that she was attractive.

"Right, what do you want?" he asked, walking up as the boss had the advantage of skipping the queue at the bar. That much he'd let her get away with.

"I'm sure they all appreciate your attention to detail, too, in position staffing." She complimented him. Romi was great at compliments.

Nodding, she said, "Oh yeah, and it seems like everyone loves her additions. Do you think she'll do more? Or maybe you'll keep some of these on the menu for the queer nights?" She couldnt' see why he wouldn't, Genie was clearly a talent and a great find for him, so why not use that?

She laughed at his summation of her seductive powers, "I think you're way too kind, and besides, I don't think Franklin would appreciate it. He's a bit... more traditional than I am." She answered diplomatically.

She looked around at what others were drinking and then down at her yellow outfit. The Italian Greyhound she'd had had popped delightfully with the pink, but the rainbow cocktail did look enticing so she ordered one of those. "It doesn't match my outfit as well, but I really have to try one." She grinned at him.

"I hope so. They're probably due for more reviews before long and they can protest then if they want to," he said easily. He tried to be good at listening to and seeing the needs of his staff.

"Well, if I pass on the compliments and pay her for her time I don't see why not," he said with a grin. "I don't think I'll keep the fourteen layer shot on, because it's a bit of an arse to make, but the others aren't so bad. Maybe we can rotate some stuff in and out." More things to make a mental note of and discuss with the staff. He didn't want to keep anything on that was going to cause anyone else massive issues.

Charlie snorted, he could read between the lines of what she was saying well enough to follow that one. "I said from a distance, breaking their hearts when you say no to them," he said. Romi's promiscuous nature didn't bother him since she never tried pushing him into anything he didn't want, and he'd never seen any indications she wasn't choosing it for herself.

"Outfit matching is overrated, but then again I'm wearing purple and grey, so my choices are kind of horrible," he said. Not that he was drinking. He made sure Romilda's drink got made next and leaned against the bar for a little while. He'd have to head back behind it soon, but they could have a minute or two more. They didn't look quite swamped at the moment. "They're good," he confirmed. "Although you're sort of meant to drink them all at once, because the grenadine is a bit much unless you stir it," he said, pulling a bit of a face.

She shook her head with a smile at his relaxed attitude about it all. Her staff were like family - especially Emma, of course - and she treated her shop employees like it. Her girls were even more important and warranted the utmost respect and care, though Charlie didn't know that. But she laughed at his thoughts on the shooter - he was right, she couldn't imagine something like that staying on a menu regularly.

"Your fashion usually isn't one to be guided by," she gently made fun of him with a chuckle, "I, on the other hand, am a pillar in the style community of Wizarding London, thank you," she exaggerated. At his note when he got her drink made, she gave him a look that clearly said challenge accepted and took the shot back in one swig.

"Like that, you mean?" She asked as she set the glass down on the bar. She wasn't planning on drinking too much tonight though, the evening was too important for Charlie, she wanted to be kept responsible for herself, and so she asked the bartender for a glass of water next.

Charlie snorted and shrugged. He'd never professed to being especially fashionable, or especially care about fashion as long as he was dressed appropriately for the occasion and didn't look totally awful.

"I mean I used the straw, but that works too," he said grinning at her. He was pretty sure that sort of reaction to challenges which made them both Gryffindors, and that response to alcohol which had made him get her an infusing set for Christmas.

"And sorry to do this, but I have to get back on the other side of the bar," he said. He knew she'd understand, it was a busy night and he wasn't actually taking his break just using the convenience of his walk around to talk to her. No reason for the boss to slack off when everything was so packed.
