As was usual whenever she was getting new ink, Stacey had been excited and chipper all morning, even more so than her typical exuberant self. Trying to distract her self at home with a book or working or cross-stitching or even playing with the cats had done nothing to help dispel her impatience to get started.

She'd made sure to eat lunch before heading out of the flat, walking the short distance to the parlor. Letting herself inside, she left the door unlocked but made sure the Closed sign was still visible. For a few moments, she stood in the middle of the shop, soaking in the silence of the place she'd started, smiling softly with pride at knowing what she had here.

Her thoughts were interrupted by the chime over the door, and she turned her head to grin at Meatball. "Hey old man, you ready to do this?"

He chuckled, and said, "I can see you certainly are."

Pushing open the door, she slipped her head in and then finally to make sure she came in all the way. "Oh hello! Great, I'm not too late." Sometimes she worried about that. Thankfully she wasn't late this time. She shut the door behind her and took a look around. She'd never been into a place like this. There were a lot of drawings on the wall. She liked them.

Finally she turned to look over at Stacey and smiled. "Thanks for inviting me, by the way. No preference. Feel free to use whatever you'd like." She liked all sorts of music and since she was just watching, it was totally up to them. Stacey was the one going through all the pain.

"And just let me know if I'm ever in the way or anything."

"Nope, not late at all," Stacey answered with a grin, which widened at seeing Luna take in the walls of the shop, and even more so when she heard the response about the music. "You may regret saying that in a moment, since I think I'm going to subject you both to the soundtrack to The Rocky Horror Picture Show."

"You will not, woman. Put on the Metallica and then sit yer butt down," Meatball called out from the booth.

Stacey flashed Luna conspiratorial grin before filling trough disks quickly and popping one into the player and starting it. She shrugged off the button down she'd thrown on over her tank top for the walk over, exposing both arms and her shoulders, before sitting down on chair in the middle of the booth. With a motion of her hand, she directed Luna to the stool slightly behind her, saying, "No, you should be good there. It's going on my right shoulder, so just don't jostle around."

Whatever the Rocky Horror Picture Show was, she was looking forward to listening to it. "I'll let you know at the end what I think." Though honestly, she was probably going to end up loving it, because who didn't love that movie and soundtrack? Only weird people didn't like it. She was weird, but not that weird.

Oh. Metallica. Another choice that she might or might not like. Who knew with her?

Luna slipped onto the stool behind Stacey and settled in. "I won't jostle, promise." She could sit still when the need called for it. And she was very intrigued by what was going on, so all of her attention was going to be on the tattooing instead of whatever else might be going around.

As The Black Album started playing softly in the background, Stacey explained the process to Luna as Meatball finished getting all the supplies prepared. "So, because this is a Muggle tattoo, it's a little less intricate than any magical one would be. He's going to use a special kind of paper to lay down the pattern and then use that as a guide for the actual tattoo. Kind of like those tracing picture books for children."

Meatball was quiet as he started doing exactly that, which Stacey knew from experience was his way of getting into the right mental state to start working. The pattern was slightly cool against her skin, and Stacey couldn't help grinning in anticipation. "This might be a little louder than you're expecting," she warned Luna just before the tattoo gun started buzzing.

Well. This music was interesting. She nodded her head a little, "All right. That makes sense." A guide was always a good thing when you were drawing on someone's skin permanently. Luna didn't think that she would want someone doing that and just doing whatever they wanted without a guide. But she didn't know.

And she would wait to ask any of her questions until after they were done. No need to distract anyone, that would be bad. Yeah it was a little louder than she was expecting, but she didn't jump or anything. Honestly she was just fascinated by the whole thing. And she was making notes.. in her head anyway.

Getting a tattoo was very different than actually being the one doing the art, but the strange sort of headspace Stacey found herself in was actually rather similar. She wasn't truly aware of the passing of time, only distantly noting the pauses of the gun being refilled or the song on the stereo changing.

In all actuality it was a little more than an hour and a half later that she felt the cool, almost slimy, feeling of the gel being applied to help her heal, and heard Meatball ask, "Want to take a look before I cover it up?"

"Of course!" Stacey answered with a grin, hopping down and carefully stepping around Luna to peer at her shoulder in the mirror at the edge of the booth. She smiled widely at her own reflection, the pattern stark against her skin, and she could see a few clots of blood still clinging to her, but the ink itself was perfectly done. Turning back to her employee, she said, "Wonderful, as always!" before moving to sit back down so he could wrap the gauze around her shoulder.

When it was all over, she peered over so that she could get a long look at the tattoo herself. It sure was neat. Even if she didn't care for the sight of all the blood, it didn't bother her enough to faint or something.

"It looks really great," she agreed with a nod of her head.

Luna finally sat back down with a smile on her face. "So.. if this was going to be a wizarding tattoo.. would you just.. spell the tattoo to move? Or is the ink spelled already in a tattoo?" Or maybe it was something completely different that she wasn't sure about.

"Yeah, you do good work old man," Stacey teased, chuckling at Meatball as he waved off her comment.

Returning Luna's smile, she answered, "Magical tattoos are an entirely different process. The trace would have had color, and we would've used a wand instead of the gun, using magic to basically push the color into the skin, the spell for which also ties the charm for the tattoo into the individual's magic so that it can move or change color or whatever. It's a much more intricate process, and it tends to take longer."

Since her arm had been wrapped, Stacey hopped down, darting in to press a quick kiss to one of Meatball's breaded cheeks, sticking her tongue out at him when he waved her off grumpily, though she could see the affectionate smile he was trying to hide.

"Now, I'm hungry, so I'll be going next door to Finnigan's, if you want to join?" she offered to Luna before starting to make her way to the door.

Luna ooh'd slightly, listening to her explanation about magical tattoos. "That's neat. Does it hurt more or less than a regular one?" After all needles and wands were very different. Not to say that spells didn't hurt. They did on occasion.

She would be lying if she said that she wasn't thinking about getting one.

Perhaps one day, if she could think of something to get, and where to put it. And would be able to put up with the pain.

"Oh sure. I'm famished. Thanks for inviting," she said with a smile and followed Stacey out of the shop and down to Finnigans.
