Auror BAMFs at Work
Who: Harry & Susan
What: Auror shenanigans
Where: Cornwall
When: Saturday evening into late night
Rating: Possibly NSFW because violence

It was a sad fact of life that as an Auror, you had to expect your weekends to be cut short unexpectedly. It hadn't happened for awhile, but the lucky streak couldn't last forever. Harry was just glad that Teddy hadn't been planning to sleep over; he hated to disappoint his godson. As it was, Harry had no plans to be cut short for Saturday night. Which was probably a little sad, but he didn't mind quiet nights at home. So when he got the call to report to the Ministry for a briefing, it was short work to pull on his Auror's robes and Floo to the office. He wasn't surprised to see Susan there, and they walked together into the Head's office.

"Thank you for coming in," Auror Proudfoot said, her face grim. She began to outline the problem: a cult of warlocks that Harry and Susan had had run-ins with previously had kidnapped the daughter of a Wizengamot member. Their purpose was unknown, but this particular group was known to use Dark Magic in rituals. Various cult members were in and out of Azkaban on a variety of charges, but there were more than Harry was comfortable with still on the loose. These rituals had never before involved human life, and he didn't like the idea that they could have escalated so much without any sign or warning.

Proudfoot finished her briefing with, "Their last known location was a farmhouse in Cornwall, but the exact location is impossible to locate. You two will Apparate to what we've determined is the closest town. Two other teams will be working from north and west of you. Between you all, you'll triangulate the position and move in. We don't know what their timetable is, so you'll need to work quickly."

"Understood." He could feel his mind shifting into what he called Auror mode, and looked at Susan. "Ready?"

Susan huffed in amusement and nodded. "Well get these fuckers, Harry, I swear it," she said, sensing the anger radiating from him like a furnace.

Internally pleased at how well they worked together, Susan cast Strigiformo on herself and then on Harry, suddenly turning the night bright as day.

"Right," she said. "Let's go." Breaking out into the sort of ground eating and stealthy trot that made mothers and school teachers vastly nervous, she set off towards their destination, crossing a number of disgustingly quaint fields along the way.

Finally, they neared their destination and stopped behind a tree to plan their next move. "What do you think," she asked, tutting to herself as she checked to find no active wards up around the perimeter.

"Too easy," Harry whispered back. He didn't like that there were no wards active, that it had been so easy to find the place. It smelled of a setup, though he was positive Proudfoot hadn't sent them into a trap. Something else was at work here.

The obvious idea would be to split up, check the property from all sides before moving in. And that would be what they wanted, he was sure of it. Separate them, and then use them against each other. Well, that wasn't going to happen.

"They're going to expect us to come in hot and heavy, so we need to do the opposite."

"Exactly," she whispered. "The important thing is that we stay together and alert."

Susan was about to respond further when a pair of shivering and snivelling sentries walked directly past the spot where she and Harry were crouched.

"I don' understand why we can't 'ave no wards or nuffink set up to stop thems Aurors coming after us," the taller man complained. "It'd be well nice to do somethin' about all the cold and all." Susan forcibly stopped herself from stunning him then and there.

"I've told you already Boris," the shorter man replied with a bite in his voice. "We can't set up wards because the magic will attract the authorities. That's why Cornwall was chosen. Nothing interesting happens in Cornwall."

Susan shot a disgusted look at Harry, and after a nod from him, viciously incapacitated one of the sentries. Muttering disgustedly about the calibre of dark minions these days, she summoned a length of rope and with Harry's help, hog tied the two imbeciles to a tree.

Shaking her head contemptuously, she led Harry up to a side door and into the house.

One of his favorite things about working with Susan was that they were often on the same wave length when it came to procedure. There was never any jostling for power that there was with some of the older Aurors, and their time in the field was one of equals. They were a good team, and he thought that was why they'd been paired for this new task force. He knew she'd have his back, no matter how dangerous the situation.

Of course, it turned out that this situtation was dangerous only because they were up against imbeciles. No wards, not because it was a trap, but because they were too stupid to do otherwise. Nothing intersting happens in Cornwall? He shot Susan an equally disgusted look, and added an eye roll for emphasis. Still, it wouldn't do to let down his guard, so he stayed alert of the surrounding areas as he followed Susan silently do the side door.

Getting in was easy, they hadn't even engaged the Muggle locks--probably didn't even know what they were. Using hand signals he told Susan to go right while he took the left. He stunned the first wizard he came to, and cast a pillowing charm so the body wouldn't make a noise as it hit the floor. It was quick work to take out the six other hostiles he came to, and he met back with Susan in what was the kitchen.

Harry motioned at Susan to head right and she nodded in response, making a circle motion with her hand to meet her on the other side.

Sneaking through the room to the right, she came across four of the bumbling henchmen dicing. She grinned viciously and cast a sound muffling charm and then put her wand away, exploding into them with horrendous violence. When she was done, the four of them lay twitching and bloodied on the floor, and she smiled. It took her another few minutes to make her way through the rest of the house, taking down another six before meeting Harry in the kitchen.

"That was invigorating," she whispered, cracking her knuckles and nodding to the cellar door leading down from the kitchen. "Down there then?"

Harry hadn't been quite as violent as Susan, but he'd gotten the job done. The six he'd handled wouldn't be walking easily for quite some time. "Almost makes up for the stupidity," he agreed, then did a detection charm on the cellar door. No wards, as expected.

"Thirteen bodies down there. One of them is the girl, but we won't know which until we get down there. Ready?" He waited for her nod, then eased the door open with another silencing charm to keep it from squeaking and giving away their arrival.

Harry took point this time, easing down the steps silently. He had no idea what to expect, but was prepared for the worst. He was absolutely not expecting to see twelve naked bodies...had they interrupted a dark orgy of some kind, he wondered, eyes searching for the kidnapped girl. She was tied to a chair at the end of the room, watching the orgy with a half horrified, half fascinated expression.

Susan snorted contemptuously in agreement. "Beating a group of thugs senseless always improves my mood immensely," she replied, shaking her head as Harry's detection charm brought back nothing. "These idiots are beyond belief."

She nodded, want at the ready body coiled in readiness to strike. "Let's go kick some arse," she whispered as he opened the door, and led the way down to... an orgy. An actual orgy. The dark wizards who had been responsible for a number of nasty animal sacrifice incidents were industriously going at it like rabbits in four groups of three.

"What the fuck do they think they're doing," she asked Harry, their words not even noticed by the group of imbeciles in flagrante delicto. The poor kidnapped girl finally noticed them and made a face of disgust at them. Nodding grimly at her, Susan took out her wand and looked at Harry, who nodded. "WHAT THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING," she shouted, firing curses to emphasise each point. Beside her, Harry was likewise sending hexes and curse fizzing through the air. "YOU ARE THE WORST DARK WIZARDS EVER. EVER." She advanced on the deeply shocked coven leader, sending the man on top of him flying into the wall with a flick of the wand. "Explain yourself," she said, wand in his face.

"Uh... We... That... NOTHING HAPPENS IN CORNWALL," he said in desperation. Disgustedly, Susan hexed him in the face.

Harry went to the girl while Susan took care of the idiots masquerading as Dark Wizards. It was clear from the setup that they actually had no idea what they were doing, but steps had ot be taken to clear the area of any residual Dark Magic. He started with the girl, casting several detection charms, and was relieved when they all came back negative. They must not have gotten to that point in the ritual.

"You're okay," he soothed, easing her down from the platform and conjuring a robe to put over her. "We'll get you home as soon as we can, but we're going to need to go to the Ministry and ask you some questions. Then we'll get you home to your father." He used the same sort of soothing tone he used on other victims of Dark crimes, wanting to put her at ease as quickly as possible.

The girl gave him the same sort of disgusted look that Susan was giving the criminals. "Don't coddle me, Potter. I know how this works. Can we go now?" She crossed her arms, and Harry took a step back. Well, it appeared that nothing tonight was going as expected. The girl was tapping her foot impatiently, and bouncing back from this far quicker than Harry had expected. He looked over at Susan, wondering if she was thinking what he was thinking.

Susan looked across at the girl, who's tart reply and impatient foot tapping where making her jiggle. "Sweetie," she said conversationally as she walked towards them, pausing for a moment to blast a prone wizard out of the way and into a wall with a sickening crunch. "A little tip from me to you: put clothes on before you start making snippy little comments and ordering people around imperiously, because unless the person you're talking to wants to sleep with you, they won't take you seriously."

The girl opened her mouth to argue, and Susan looked at Harry and rolled her eyes. Moving forward, she shoved the robe over the girls head, muffling something that sounded 'How dare you, my father will!' Once the girl was decently covered, Susan smiled at her. "There, now isn't that better? Especially since you're going to be photographed and interviewed by a number of diligent young trainees who unlike Mr Potter and myself, would have found your nakedness extremely interesting." She moved away, and cast a soleil to look around properly. "I'm sure that it goes without saying that a naked photo of you would be highly embarrassing to your father."

Out of the corner of her eye, she saw Harry begin sweeping the room casting the same neutralising charms and anti-jinxes on the various implements she came across. Pausing for a second, she cast a patronus, placing a recording charm on it, reporting their progress and location. "Go to the others sweeping in, then tell Proudfoot," she instructed, watching the glowing leopardess sprint out of view.
