Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:character: blaise zabini, character: bryony capper, character: lucy spinks, character: marietta edgecombe

WHO: Marietta, Lucy, Dominic, Angie, Aidan, Richard and OPEN to observers
WHEN: Saturday May 16th
WHERE: Courtyard at Finnigan's
RATING: SFW- Will change if necessary

Marietta looked around at the set up. Dominic had set up three distinct courses that were layered in height. When they finished each course Marietta would banish the lower one and the next would drop down to the playing level, approximately 5 meters off the ground for the barrel and poles while the steeple chase varied in height from 10-15 meters with alternating over under obstacles. Once those three were completed she had a charmed stuffed sheep ready to release for the roping, one for each participant.

As time for the start of the event neared, she was smiling broadly inside. Marietta wasn't sure if there was a better turn out because word had gotten out about the success of the previous event or if it had been the pull of the playoff match which would follow the next day. Either way, she was glad that everything was lined up and the participants and audience seemed ready for a night of fun.

Blaise hadn't thought to clarify the last name as he knew Millicent was working with Summerby. "Yes, it is the same Millicent," he acknowledged Lucy's question.

He chuckled slightly at her rendition of his job. "I suppose you could explain it that way as well. But as far as how it's done. Mostly completing paperwork which can be rather boring unless one of the prototypes creates an interesting scenario." He'd actually made the mistake early on of filling out papers on the same table he was testing on. Needless to say he'd lost a whole days worth of notes when one later in the day caught the whole stack on fire causing him to repeat every test again the next day.

"So that's a 'no' to enjoying it..." Lucy said, never one to beat around the bush too much. "That's a shame especially when you're working with a game! It should be fun." It didn't sound like it was likely to pay particularly well, either, but perhaps Blaise didn't mind. Lucy wanted to be passionate about her job - but she knew not everyone was the same. "Do you have other hobbies?"

The room was growing more and more crowded, and there seemed to be a hush falling - suggesting the broom events might be about to begin. Had it been anything other than flying, Lucy would have bid a hasty goodbye to Blaise to present herself as ready and raring to go. Instead, she hung back - at least long enough for him to answer the question.

Blaise had taken the position because it had been what he was offered when he applied at the Ministry. His mother had made a point of telling him that even the smallest job within the Ministry was worth his time and he had supposed it true. Besides, in this new day and age it was believed that good work would pay before status. That meant even if he had to start in the dregs he may find himself further up the chain later in life.

"Flying," he said nodding toward the starting spot. "And it seems you ought to get to it."
