Complaints Procedure
Who: Greg and OPEN
What: Complaints? Shopping? I'm open to whatever.
Where: WWW, Diagon Alley
When: 1st April, afternoon
Rating: SFW for now

Nobody had warned Greg there was going to be a special April Fools’ Day prank. If they had, maybe he wouldn't have so willingly accepted the brightly painted chocolate Weasley had offered him. Though Greg knew he'd eaten it, he couldn't work out what the 'special effect' was supposed to be - his speech seemed normal. He smirked at the thought that perhaps he was just too big for the paltry amount of potion in a single chocolate to work on him. Alcohol was kind of like that - he needed more than most before he started to feel it.

Despite the apparent lack of awkward speech patterns, his day had still been marred by the stupid chocolates. People kept coming in to the shop to demand a cure, or to ask for details of who they were supposed to go see to make it stop. It was Weasley's birthday, so he wasn't in, and Greg and his least favourite Weasel were running the place together. As the day wore on, Greg's temper grew shorter and shorter until he was practically chasing customers out the door.

The Weasel was occupied with some Ministry official complaining that he couldn't attend an important meeting without being able to say yes or no when the bell over the door signalled the arrival of yet another customer. "What?" Greg barked, turning to see what he was going to have to deal with.

Greg's posture relaxed when he spotted who it was. "Sorry." He didn't expect to see his friends in this place - most of them had no more desire to set foot in Weasley's stupid shop or buy his stupid products than Greg had - so of course he'd assumed it would be another annoying customer. "Didn't realise it was you. Customers keep coming in to shout. Weasel thinks it's funny." Or at least, that was the impression Greg had from the way the complaints were being dealt with. No compensation nor cure was being given so far as he'd observed.

"You can fix it if you find someone with the same problem," he explained, correctly assuming that the stammers in MIls' speech were chocolate-related. "You have to shake hands, or something." Greg wasn't sure how best to go about finding someone who shared the same condition - he hadn't given much thought to it, since he seemed to be immune from the effects. "Stay in here long enough and someone will probably come in."

At her comment, Greg looked down at the robes and scowled. He gotten to the stage where, except for the moment when he put them on in the morning he'd almost learned to forget about them. "I know," he agreed. "Everything about this place is so -" He caught himself before finishing the sentence, knowing that calling the shop 'stupid' in front of the Weasleys (again) was probably not a good idea.

"Shake hands with someone who's got the same problem?" Both eyebrows shot up in dismay, and - resisting the urge to slam her head into her hand - Mils bit at her bottom lip so she didn't scream in frustration the way she wanted to do. "I haven't got the time to wait around and do that! I've got a me-...a ma-...a thing to go to in Ma-..." She tossed up both hands a bit, looking at him in annoyed appeal. "I can't go like this, Greg! Are you sure there's no other cure? No potion or pill or...?"

It wasn't his fault, and she knew as well as she knew anything that the Joker Weasel wouldn't have put together an antidote, because something like this was "harmless." Oh, this was going to be a pain. Mils pinched the bridge of her nose, tipped the corners of her mouth up weakly, and looked up through her lashes. "Right. Nothing you can do, because it's the Weasels, and that would be too easy. Well..." She checked the clock on the wall on reflex, sighed when she realised that it was - of course - a joke and didn't actually tell the time, and looked back at Greg, lips pursed to a thin slit. "Tell m-...say he didn't try anything on you, at least." Because really, the robes were bad enough.

As was not uncommon, Greg wasn't exactly sure of anything, so he shrugged his broad shoulders. "You can ask him. I haven't seen him cure anyone." Nor did it seem at all likely that if he were to start, he'd begin with anyone from Slytherin house. "What about the journals?" he suggested. He'd seen George scribbing in his earlier, and when he'd checked he'd found there was a note about the new product. "You could ask there, might find someone faster."

He shrugged again at her question. "I had one of the chocolates. Don't know what it did yet." Just in case, he took her hand and gave it a quick shake. There was no obvious reaction, and he let his hands fall back to his sides. "Sorry." He really did wish he could help, but with Draco still out of the country, didn't know what else to suggest. "Maybe someone could make you a potion, but it probably wouldn't be any quicker than staying here."
