I'm not too familiar with Muggle, but they're about the same. Parables, lessons-to-be-learned, that sort of thing.

Did you have a favourite growing up? I'm interested in specific props or settings for a project.

If you read The Tales of Beedle the Bard, you'll get an idea.

Are you looking for any tales in particular?

I won't know what in particular I'm looking for until I find it. I was hoping there were some tales with iconic components. Something like Cinderella's carriage or Sleeping Beauty's spindle.

Most tales have an iconic element of some sort. I agree with Zacharias. The tales are a good place to start.

Castles, powerful wizards and witches...

I believe there was one I enjoyed as a boy about a hippogryff and a mermaid who fell in love but could not live together and thus were doomed to love from a distance. Yet the hippogryff could not stay away and would spend all of their time flying above the mermaid's lake. Unfortunately, its devotion was so obsessed that it forgot to sleep and eat on land, and eventually fell into the lake. Its dying breath was spent on a sole kiss with its love, in whose arms it died, happy for one final moment before submitting to Death's call.

Most of the ones I read as a child involved witch hunts, mostly in some horrifying town called Salem.
