Who: Hermione and OPEN
What: Book Shopping
Where: Bookstore in Monument Alley
When: Sunday after Battlescars
Rating: TBD

Hermione needed a pick me up so she went to the one place that always offered comfort, a bookstore. She didn't know if she wanted something magical or muggle. What she did know was that she wanted a story that could take her away from here. Something set outside of Britain and away from her day to day life. A bit of a whirlwind romance might fit the bill.

Quietly, she browsed the shelves hoping that the perfect book would present itself. She noticed a brightly colored spine and bent down to pull it from the shelf to see what it might behold. When she stood she turned the book over and in her hand and opened it. She gasped at the lewdness and instruction on the first page. She would have thought that surely this was the kind of book that ought to be kept away from the general public, perhaps even hidden away inside Quickpulse.

Immediately, Lucy switched her attention to the 'L' shelf of the fiction section - until she found a pastel pink cover with 'EE 1' emblazoned on the spine. She pulled it out, glancing at the front before looking over the blurb on the back cover. It didn't really seem like her kind of thing at all, but it was a personal recommendation - from a stranger or otherwise. "Looks like I have something to read after all." How bad could it be? If she didn't like it, she could always gift it to one of her sisters. They had diverse enough taste that she was a pretty good judge, after she'd read something, of who'd like it best. Granted, she'd never tried to get them to read anything magical - but maybe she should start!

"Thanks," she added, feeling pretty good about the whole book situation now she had at least somewhere to begin. "I'm Lucy, by the way."

Hermione smiled as Lucy pulled a book from the shelf. It had been a long time since she'd made a reading recommendation. "You're welcome, Lucy." She would have offered a hand as she completed the introductions but in her opinion the feel of a book in one's hand was better than a handshake any day of the week. "Hermione Granger," she nodded reaching over to pull a random volume from just a few rows above.

"Oh!" The name brought a flood of memories back to Lucy. Not of the war, or Harry Potter, but of the girl who'd always seemed to score highest in every test, known the answer to every question. Lucy had always found that both intimidating and a strange comfort. When the Slytherins hounded Lucy for being a mudblood who was terrible at magic, at least she could remind herself that Hermione was on the other end of the spectrum, proving that muggle parents didn't mean you couldn't be good and clever and do well. There had been a little bit of envy there, as well, because Lucy had worked hard for her mediocre grades, and nothing she'd done had ever been able to improve the practical side of her magic.

Of course, she didn't say any of that outright. "We were in the same year at school," she said quickly, to explain her sudden recognition. "You probably don't remember me. I was in Hufflepuff. I think we had Herbology together, and maybe something else..."

Hermione did a quick mental run through of the various facts and figures that resided in her brain. "Why yes," she stated moving the volume she held from one hand to the other. "Apologies, it's been awhile." Hermione had prided herself in school on knowing who everyone was. Unfortunately, war and time had made recalling and knowing everyone something that no longer held the same place in her priorities. "I do hope you like it," she nodded toward the book Lucy held.

"It's fine," Lucy said, though she wasn't fully convinced Hermione actually remembered her. She didn't expect to be recalled by those outside her own house, she'd spent very little time with any of them. She'd always found it necessary to hole up in her bedroom to study rather than attend school events.

Lucy glanced down at the book she held and smiled. "Only one way to find out." The words felt like a dismissal, and she didn't want to prey any further on Hermione's time. She smiled once more before she began to head towards the desk to pay.
