Game Night Kick Off
Who: Marietta, Lucy, Melinda, Rose (their partners if they choose to bring one) and OPEN to all others to observe
What: Game night kick off
Where: Finnigan's Roost
When: Saturday evening
Rating: That depends on how the subthreads go

Marietta arrived a little early with the supplies for the tasks in tow. The room was set up exactly as she had imagined it would be. There was a bar with the drink supplies for the three drinks they'd settled upon readily available. A set of tables for the first task, a circular course for the second, and a clear spot on the floor for the final. She'd heard from a few individuals that they were looking forward to the evening. Marietta could only hope that others would come as well.

"Oh?" Dominic asked, interest piqued. Marietta did have friends, then. Not that he'd thought she didn't, but maybe finding more connections between them would set her more at ease. Or maybe it wouldn't - Dominic was pretty certain he didn't have a complete read on her yet. "Who's that, then?" He knew a few event planers, but if it was Marietta's best friend she was almost-certainly biased, and he didn't want to offend her by guessing the wrong one.

"Cho Chang," she said with a nod as she turned to look at the set up. "We've been friends for years." They'd known each other since before Hogwarts and she had always been thankful to have her around.

"Though she's definitely prone to more high society events," she didn't doubt that Cho could have put this event together. Marietta simply knew that her clientele had become more sophisticated and she definitely didn't want to ask her to spend time where she could be earning money helping with something as silly as game day.

Dominic nodded. "I've worked with Cho once or twice, and we were on the Ravenclaw Quidditch team for a bit at school." Sometimes he forgot Marietta had been in his own house - he certainly hadn't known her well at the time.

"High society isn't really my thing," he admitted, partly in response to Marietta's comment and partly to explain why he hadn't worked more with Cho. "I've done a few things here and there, but I think I prefer business stuff to personal - at least when it comes to architectural work." He had a feeling that people tended to be more reasonable about limitations on their business premises, whereas they wanted their house to look exactly as they imagined - even when that was barely possible.

Marietta hadn't really paid attention to anyone that wasn't within the window of a year below or ahead of her. That wasn't to say there weren't people who hadn't been worth her attention, she simply wasn't the sort to reach out too far.

"It isn't mine either," Marietta admitted. "For the most part I prefer the a simple night with a few good friends." She looked at the time and noted it was just a few more minutes until she hoped people started arriving. "I know though that there's an expectation of some public socialization. I figured if I forced myself to take lead on something I'd have to get a little ways outside of my comfort one."

Dominic nodded thoughtfully at Marietta's words, adding this information to his internal store. It seemed his initial reading of her had been far from fair. Dominic had met people who were nervous around strangers before, but Marietta hadn't seemed nervous at the time so he'd interpreted her actions differently. Now, though, he felt like he was seeing a fuller picture of her.

"That makes sense," he said. Privately, he thought it was quite a brave way to go about it. Most would have gone along to one of Finnigan's existing activities, but Marietta had chosen to take charge of her own. "How's it working so far?" he asked. "Or is it too soon to tell?"

"Time will tell," she replied. So far she was a bit disappointed but a few individuals had signed up. Looking at the wall she noted the time.

"And it seems that for now time is telling us to begin."
