...And The Losers
Who: Team House Rivalry (Greg, Pansy, Harry, Hyperion)
What: Trying to find Finnigan
Where: Starts at the Leaky, ends at London Zoo
When: Tuesday 17th March
Rating: NSFW Language

Pansy had convinced Greg to wear muggle clothes for the day - 'just in case' and because, afterall, Finnigan was half-muggle. Greg hadn't even been sure he owned muggle clothes, but Pansy had picked out some trousers and a top that were the kind of thing he might wear under robes usually. His clue had been completely useless - some nonsense about a herpetologist that had left Greg completely baffled until he'd found someone helpful on the journals. Now he had a couple of options to suggest, and Pansy could probably help him work out which they should go to first.

The only weak spot in the cauldron was that Greg and Pansy couldn't be a team. They needed at least one non-Slytherin. Luckily, one had volunteered. Greg didn't know exactly who 'Hyperion' was, but hopefully he'd know where they could find a zoo. Greg had told him to meet them at the Leaky so they could head into muggle London as soon as possible. Even though the prize galleons would be split between three, Greg still really wanted to win.

Pansy wasn't sure how she'd wound up involved in this ridiculous charade, it wasn't as if she wanted to find Finnigan of all people. But she'd seen the competition mentioned, and her innate sense of competition had taken over and the rest was history. Since Greg had mentioned someone from the journals offering to join their team, Pansy just hoped they weren't completely useless. Or a Gryffindor, though the two really were the same when it came right down to it.

With her feet happily encased in cushioning charms, because her new boots were just too wonderful not to wear for extended periods, Pansy led the way into the Leaky, and looked around for someone who was hopefully not a complete loser. Pansy Parkinson Did Not Lose. Her clue, to head South from Regent's Canal at least gave them a starting place, and as long as their team members' clues weren't useless she was certain they'd reach Finnigan first.

"Who did you say we were meeting, darling?" Pansy cast her eyes around the pub, which was surprisingly empty considering the day. Perhaps everyone was taking part in this ridiculous scavenger hunt.

"I don't know," Greg said, frowning. "Hyperion Mont-something." He pulled his journal out from the inner pocket of his jacket and flicked it open to the right page. "Montgomery." Honestly, when the offer of a teammate had first appeared Greg had barely bothered to check the name at all. Now, though, it was sparking a dim connection in his mind. "Pandora has brothers, right?" He hadn't known Pandora well in school, but she'd been around a bit lately. "Shit. There wasn't a Hyperion in Slytherin, was there?" For Greg, purebloods (of the right sort) were still supposed to be sorted into Slytherin; the idea that Pandora might have a Gryffindor brother genuinely didn't occur to him.

In her dangerous-looking boots, Pansy was actually on eye-level with Greg, but they were scanning the room in opposite directions. "Great," Greg muttered when he spotted Potter over Pansy's shoulder. "Just what we need. Potter's here." Since Ron had started working at George's shop, Greg had been getting more interaction with the Weasleys on a daily basis than he ever wanted to have. His temper had been noticeably short ever since.

"Hyperion Montgomery?" Pansy asked, turning to look at Greg. "Pandora's Gryffindor Auror brother?" Her voice took on an incredulous tone, though she fought to keep any annoyance out of it. She'd long since come to understand that Gregory Goyle did not have a good head for details. Even details as important as men who would be marriageable if not for a few unfortunate details. "No, darling, there were no Hyperions in Slytherin."

Resigned now to teaming up with a Gryffindor of all people, Pansy looked around for Hyperion. Who she spotted, sitting next to her third least favorite person in the world. Harry bloody Potter. Of course. As if this day could get any worse than this. "Potter's here with Hyperion," she hissed towards Greg, though she made sure her expression was neutral. She'd never give Potter the satisfaction of seeing her nerves. Not wanting either Hyperion or Potter to think that she and Greg would back out once it was realized who exactly it was they'd inadvertently teamed up with, she took Greg's arm and steered in him the Auror's direction, striding across the room as if she owned it.

"Hyperion, darling, it's so good to see you," she said, smiling warmly in Hyperion's direction and ignoring Potter altogether.

"Ah, here comes trouble," Hyperion said quietly as he spotted Pansy Parkinson heading towards them, Gregory Goyle locked in a death grip of doom in towe. "Five galleons says she completely ignores you." He straightened up and pasted on the polite smile his mother had spent years drilling into him, just as they arrived.

He lifted an eyebrow at Parkinson's greeting, but held back any negative comment - her father had undoubtedly been a Death Eater, but there was no evidence to suggest that she had any leanings in that direction. Goyle he held in a somewhat more severe light, but was nonetheless willing to accept the apparent change of heart that occurred in him. "Pansy, how are you," he replied, nodding politely, before shooting Harry another vastly amused look. "So nice of you two accept two uh, Gryffindors into your team, aye?"

If it hadn't been for Pansy's grip on his arm, Greg might have left. He wouldn't draw out of the competition entirely - not when he'd paid a whole galleon - but surely he and Pansy could find someone else to team up with? Gryffindor was bad, Auror was worse and Potter was worst of all. Greg's face was thunder as he approached, and he scowled at Hyperion, feeling like he'd been tricked.

He did, at least, have enough Slytherin instincts not to humiliate Pansy by suggesting they leave now. He might not understand why she wanted to go through with this, but it was obvious she did and she knew better, always. He continued to glare at Hyperion in silence - because his actions hadn't been 'nice' or 'accepting', they'd been a mistake! If he were alone, he would probably have said so, but letting Pansy do the talking came naturally. "We have to find a zoo," he announced, still not certain what a 'zoo' was, and not willing to risk making a fool of himself by stumbling over the word 'Herpetological'. The sooner they left not only would they stand more chance of winning, they'd also have to spend less time together.
