A Day for Errands
Who: Charlie Weasley and Hyperion Montgomery
What: Errands and a chance meeting
Where: Monument Alley (assorted), beginning near Quickpulse.
When: Friday, 13. February, 2005
Rating: ?NSFW - language possible

The massive benefit of Charlie's work hours was that he didn't work when most of the shops were open so he never needed to take the day off to get his errands done (even if sometimes he kind of wanted to if he had something to do on working days). Today it was pet food. He was looking short of owl treats and Nebula was getting huffy about the slightly crushed ones from the bottom of the pack, and Echo seemed to have a bottomless stomach and little inclination to leave the flat and find mice to fill himself up. So he'd called in at The Bestiary and was carrying a large bag with catfood and some owl treats as well as a jingly bell trapped in a ball for Echo to drive him mad with (no illusions there).

Next on his list was ducking into Quickpulse to have a word with Romilda about his cooking plans for the weekend because she'd already ducked out by the time he was feeling functional. He didn't call into the shop very often because aside it mostly not being geared at things he was interested in, it also potentially gave people the wrong impression. Not that Romi refrained from the odd suggestion to him. He was yet to take her up on any of them, but he had considered it.

"Thanks!" he called, closing the door behind him and hefting the bag of cat food back up into his arms. He was heading for Diagon Alley now, in need of a couple of things more, and considering heading into the bookshop for something new, hoping there might be something not romance-related on offer.

Hyperion sighed mournfully, then grinned. "I think you should definitely do it, nothing like weirdness to improve the mood of a workplace," he said, thinking of someone of the weird but entertaining things his colleagues in the Aurory did on occasion to cheer everyone else up. He snorted again and nodded. "Oh aye, it's nice to not be banned from places for life. I tell you, you accidentally smash up a wee little coffee shop one time and they never let you back in. So probably best that we move on."

He snorted and lifted his brows in an amused fashion. "I haven't actually noticed, but I doubt it? He doesn't hang with the young hotheads which speaks well of him if nothing else." He chuckled lightly again, and bowed his head in agreement as Charlie indicated his desire to purchase his book and leave.

"A cat, really," Hyperion asked with a happy smile. "Well that's sold me, lead the way!"

"My place is pretty weird enough as it is. I reckon the staff'll appreciate it." He'd got a pretty wide variety of staff, most of whom skewed a little away from the slightly conservative overall Wizarding world. Maybe it was just his generation and younger, there was definitely some moving away from the past happening.

"Well, that's good news at least," Charlie said, rather relieved that Ron wasn't hanging around with the less stable sounding elements of the auror department. He knew enough about the Ministry that that would be a bit of an interesting prospect.

Charlie nodded and grinned, quickly navigating them both to his flat. He doubted Romi was in but called out hi just in case. "Come on in," he said, gesturing Hyperion inside. "Cloak rack there, you can take your shoes off if you want. Echo will probably play with them either way," he said, toeing off his own boots.

"And speaking of trouble," he said as Echo appeared on the arm of the couch with a little mrow of interest at the stranger. "Angus, meet Echo, he's friendly but a bit of a handful sometimes."

He followed Charlie into the flat, looking around with interest. He shrugged his coat off and put it on the rack, but bulked at taking his shoes off. He was fairly certain that there was probably some sort of enchantment on him that would alert his mother and grandmother the moment he even thought about removing his shoes outside of his own home, and he didn't think that Charlie would appreciate being murdered by proxy.

Hyperion regarded the cat with interest. "Echo is it," he asked, reaching over to pet the animal. He'd always had a knack for animals, and after several moments of hesitation, the young cat seemed to accept him and jumped into his lap. "He has good taste, aye?"

"So," he said, looking up from the near ecstatic cat. "You mentioned some stories?"

Charlie wandered over to the kitchen, pleased to hear that Hyperion was clearly getting on with Echo. Not that Echo had ever seemed especially standoffish or picky about being friends with strangers, but he was still a cat. "He has good taste," he confirmed.

"You want coffee, or tea?" he asked. He'd been well-trained by his mother. Always give guests a choice. He would have offered alcohol too, but given the hour and the fact he was working later that wasn't a good plan. "And how'd you take it?" Whichever option would require hot water and he flicked his wand to fill the kettle and set it to boil on the stove.

He opened the cupboard and put the cat food away, rather thankful that Echo was currently distracted by a visitor as he often took the arrival of food as an opportunity to try and con more food out of Charlie.

He leaned back against the counter as he waited for the kettle to boil. "Right, stories. I promised three right? Let's start with most actual body hair because it's the funniest," he said, clapping his hands together and rubbing them in anticipation. "So you know we have LGBTQ night now? Mostly it looks like any other night apart from the couples tend to be a bit more same-sex, right? Well, that isn't always the case. I've been to a couple of Muggle gay clubs before so I wasn't too shocked, but a few of the other purebloods got a bit of a shock at the few folks dressed in a more extreme manner," he said carefully, trying to assess Hyperion's familiarity with the scene.
