Journal: Well, then.
[Warded heavily to Dora. Written in tense, slightly cramped script.]

That is the last time I let Tracey set me up with someone.

Needless to say, I'm back from lunch. Shocked I didn't accidentally set fire to something on the way back (I walked. I had to. I needed the air.). Thank Athena the meetings don't start until 3! Can you imagine if I had to go straight from that to seeing a Muggle client?

Back to work. I never thought I'd see the day when I'd think filing would be a good way to calm myself. On the other hand, my desk is almost completely clear now.

Oh darling! Not one of her blind dates! I'll send something comforting over because ouch! Big hugs!

I'm glad you were able to walk the worst of it off. And sometimes it's the oddest tasks that are soothing -- when I'm upset and have to work, sometimes the only thing to do is some of the more boring tasks that somehow require some concentration.

Feel free to come by tonight to hang out and vent if you want.

He had the nerve to say I ought to consider him as husband-material because his family went to the Continent before the war, so marrying him is the only way I could ever show my face in public again. You know, since "everybody knew what my family really thought about things." Said I'd be marrying "up," and I should want to, since you know, we're so poor now. And then he said it's why the company's been supporting so many charities: playing on the fact that we took a hit monetarily, but we're still giving back to those in need. Make ourselves look misunderstood. Not like the Malfoys. Do you know what he called my house, Dora? A nice little box. Good enough for a single Pureblood on her own, he supposes. It could have been worse, he said. I could have been living like one of Crabbe's cousins, over a shop. OH, I want to sic Greg on him. Have him give that prat a good dusting.

Or I'll turn him into a worm and send him to the desert. Let him roast.

Nice little box for a lonely little Pureblood still on the shelf, INDEED. Send me Firewhiskey, Dora. The occasion calls for it.

Oh fuck him bloody, honestly! You want me to hex him for you? Or even beat him up. I can beat him up too, you don't have to bother Greg for that.

You have a much nicer box than me, for one. In fact, I love your place and have since you got it. It's comfortable and wonderful and it has you in it. Thank the gods he never met me or seen where I've lived. I'd have punched his lights out.

We could always send him to the bottom of that ravine in the Indian Ocean. This Muggle told me that the pressure down there would crush almost anything. No one would ever know.

We're far from on the shelf, darling. And I know better purebloods than that, if you wanted one. UGH. Die die die.

Firewhiskey in a light-weight charmed box on the way. Poor Caduceus wouldn't be able to carry it otherwise. Don't drink too much all on your own though (I say this from experience). You can come over with it if you want.

This day is never going to end, is it? His mother sent a nice little note to Jane, very polite and full of the usual rigmarole, but - at the bottom of the matter - wanted her to know that their family wasn't too terribly interested in making a match with us, though she hoped it wouldn't offend us to hear it. So, of course, Jane owls me, wanting to know what she's on about, and I had to explain the whole thing.

I'm done with blind dates, Dora. Look where they get me! I didn't even get a good lunch out of it. One anemic salad and a terrible wine. He couldn't pick a good vintage if it dressed up and did the can-can.

I'll come around 6, say. That way, I'm not too tempted to open the Firewhiskey here.

And no matter what Caduceus tells you, I did give him treats before he left. He liked them enough to try and go through my desk to find more. Squawked like he was dying of starvation when I sent him off. I'll have to send you some. Rolf Scamander over at the Bestiary swears by them.

Good bye and good riddance! Best rid of trash like that, and I'm sure Jane agrees.

Oh how awful. I wouldn't go on any more either. (I promise I'll always tell you about anyone I think might interest you! And no blind set ups!)

Six sounds great. Don't drink and Apparate.

He's a glut. Little thing is trying to get too fat to fly, I suspect. Devious bird. Also nosy and pushy. I'd apologize for him, but I'd just have to again in the future...
