RP: Catch me up, girl
Who: Dora and Mils

What: A long-awaited gossip session

Where: Mils’ place

When: Saturday January 31, 2pm and onward. [BACKDATED]

Rating: Possibly NSFW for language later on

Dora flopped down on Mils’ sofa, feeling comfortable enough at her friend’s to be informal like this. Mils was one of her very few female friends, and probably her most trusted at this point. She was certainly the only female on her short list of people allowed to apparate directly to her flat. Dora had grabbed a few things on her way over, to add to the things Mils had already committed to, and she’d set them down upon entering in order to hug her friend.

Now, though, she sighed gustily and looked through her hair at Mils. “Gods above, Mils, the last few weeks have been… something. And gobs of things to tell you. But first, how are you? I’ve kept meaning to drag you out and about more often, but life has conspired, I’m sorry.”

Things really had been quite hectic and emotional lately, leaving her utterly without energy some of the time. But this afternoon and evening would be a refreshing thing, and one she’d wanted for a while.

It took all she had in her not to growl, drain her glass, or slouch -- all unforgivable sins in the eyes of her upbringing. "Smarmy is better," she said after pinching the bridge of her nose and taking a long breath that didn't centre her as much as she'd hoped. "And yes, like the dead snake drawings. And the little hoodoo doll in Slytherin colours I found in the meeting room not too long ago." Taking a moment to fluff the cushions behind her and stretch out luxuriously, she pushed her hair behind her ear with her free hand and gestured with her glass. "I'm not even sure what I was expecting, with how mixed the offices are. Can you believe, I heard just the other day that the girl over in Sales who had us all out to tea after we got the contract with the Zimbabwe emerald mines actually said there must be some 'Pureblood understanding,' because otherwise I'd never get the contracts or contacts I do?" That had stung more than she'd thought, given how Alison's lack of refinement had been obvious from the start. Those ghastly Muggle modern art prints on her walls, for one, and the way she always clanked her spoon against the sides of her tea cup. "Understanding, my arse," she muttered, unafraid of reprimanding from Dora, who'd say precisely the same.

Dora rolled her eyes as hard as she could to express her opinion of that statement. "What bull shite," she agreed, a sneer in her voice. At least with Mils she knew she could say anything and pretty much be understood. She didn't have much prejudice in and of herself, except a bit perhaps socioeconomic related. And of idiots. She was very prejudiced against idiots.

"I can't believe some of the idiocy that will come out of their mouths. Sure, pureblood can ease the way sometimes, but mostly because everyone knows what's expected." The dance was something you grew up with and learned. It made sense, a hell of a lot more sense than many of the other new ways. "Though these days it can be just as much a handicap."
