Entry tags:character: marcus flint, character: pandora montgomery

RP: Catching up
Who: Pandora and Marcus

What: Lunch

Where: Finnegan’s

When: Tuesday, January 27

Rating: SFW for now, potential for swearing?

Dora smoothed a hand over her hair as she slipped into a chair at Finnegan’s. Elroy had reminded her while she was working that she’d made a lunch date with Marcus, who she’d seen dreadfully little of lately, and that the time was coming up. She’d pulled herself out of her work, put on a nice but regular robe over the clothes she’d been working in, and headed for the pub.

She was actually a couple of minutes early, unusual for her, who usually pegged it right on the minute. Never late, never early, except today, apparently. So she snagged the small table before anyone else could and scanned the place, on the look out for her friend. They had some catching up to do.

Dora gracefully let the subject drop. She out of anyone knew how freakishly complicated family dynamics could get. Her own was hellish at best these days.

She grinned, taking the teasing in stride. The grin faded as she thought about Hyperion though. She sighed gustily. "So I finally confronted him about what happened the night I got the Mark, right?" She kept her voice quiet. "And it was all raging about me not telling him before, when I did try after I got out of Azkaban, and he wouldn' listen to me. And of course he has excuses both ways, the hypocrite," she said, tone scathing and disgusted. "So it's still all my fault." And it still hurt. "Like I could get away to go to him during the time." She rolled her eyes. Her brother would have wet his trousers if he'd had to deal with Aunt Bellatrix.

She did grin again at the follow up about Tristan though. "Good, I think? At least, better. I don't think he's adjusting as great as he could, but I don't think it's awful either. We both have bad dreams, I know." She shrugged. Who hadn't dwelt in that time didn't have nightmares, she figured.

She shrugged. "I know. But what you know and I know, the rest of the world still doesn't as a whole."

Marcus listened without interrupting, allowing Pandora to tell the story at her own pace. There was some terribly awkward irony in the fact that the discussion at hand had to do with joining the Death Eaters and Tristan, without the two subjects being linked at all, at least seemingly on Pandora's side. Marcus had no idea if she knew about his history with her cousin - he had never breathed a word of it to her, but Tristan might have. "We all did what was necessary to protect those we care about," he commented, remembering the innumerable threats against Bryony that had ensured his own compliance during the war.

"Who doesn't?" he asked rhetorically. While nowadays his nightmares were less frequent, they weren't exact a thing of the past, and all the more intense when they did happen.

Marcus sighed, inclining his head. "There is that, unfortunate as it is."

Her fingers toyed absently with her drink. She'd known Marcus would understand. Of course, so did most of them who had been of a similar age and pressed into unwilling service under Voldemort's reign. "We did," she agreed with a sigh and a downcast look. Everything she'd done had been done to save her family and her own hide. Certainly she'd gotten some wrong feelings out of it, but every moment of pain she'd suffered she'd done because her family had to stay safe. "Even if no one wants to understand that." Her voice held a bit of brittle bitterness.

She shrugged in agreement. They all had their nightmares. If hers still came at least seventy-five per cent of the time, well, she wasn't even sure if Tristan knew that.

"Are things going better for you in that vein?" she asked, propping her chin on one hand. She knew it was a detriment at times for his career choice.
