Dora grinned up at him, silently acknowledging their absurd height difference. She patted his cheek before he straightened fully, or else she'd have had to tiptoe and maybe climb up him in order to do so.
She wrinkled her nose in sympathy and sighed. "Oh, I'm so sorry it's come to that," she told him. Family meant so much, even when they were being idiots and she wondered if she hated hers or loved them more. "Is there any chance of her getting out of there again?" Gods above and below, she hated that hospital, even though she knew it wasn't terribly rational. She hated the thought of anyone in there, though she knew they'd take good care of his mother.
She was pleased, though, that Marcus was able to be back at his place and be involved in life again. She did worry about him, like she did about the few people she'd bonded with during the war.
