RP: Quieter evening in theory
Who: Gwenog & Stacey Rivers
What: Drinking in the bar
Where: Finnigan's: The Common Room/Den
When: Thursday, 22nd January 2005
Rating: NSFW - Swearing

Thursday was usually Gwenog's night for going out if she didn't have a match the next day. And by out she usually means Queer night at Wingbeat, but as much as she definitely didn't have a match the following day she wasn't feeling the need to go out and dance either. But she didn't fancy hanging around the house. She'd done plenty of that over the season break, and training, and dancing, and planning potential strategies for the matches that were coming up next.

So instead of the club she'd slung on more comfortable clothes and come down to Finnigan's. She was hoping that since there were no matches she'd be able to find a quiet spot to nurse a drink or three. She was standing against the bar waiting for the large scotch and a beer she'd just ordered to arrive, and was scanning the room.

She knew there was a Chess club on that evening, but she had no idea if it had already finished or not. There were a few people in the bar anyway. She was just wondering if The Den was free.

Even though Gwenog considered herself fairly close to her family she could understand that visiting them wasn't always sunshine and roses. "Family can be trying," she agreed. That was certainly true.

"Oh, I like!" she said, ducking slightly closer to examine the proffered tattoos. "I just have two myself. One muggle, one magical. Neither of them is something I should really be flashing in the middle of the pub. At least not with what I've got on," she said, tempted to show the easiest-to-access bit of the dragon on her stomach regardless of propriety.

"Gwenog Jones," she offered. She didn't have to introduce herself too often, although not everyone followed Quidditch, or gossip for that matter. "I don't give much of a fuck for social niceties at any time, but names are handy." It's useful to know what you're meant to be screaming when you're in bed.

"Trying not to pull my hair out, yes," Stacey agreed, but she was still smiling as she said it.

"Thank you," she said, letting her hair fall back across her neck again. "And I know what you mean, I've got two on my ribs and back that hardly anyone sees because it's a little difficult to find a way to show them off."

Stacey snapped her fingers at the introduction, saying excitedly, "I know that name! You play for the Harpies, right?" She wasn't a huge Quidditch fan, didn't follow the sport at all, but after enough time and exposure, some things started to stick.

Gwenog grinned. "Oh, I can show one of mine off in better weather, its on my shoulder blade," she explained, tapping her left shoulder with the opposite hand. "Not the easiest to get out from under layers without flashing everyone. I mean, not that I give a fuck, but it tends to not be the best plan in public."

She smirked, at least that took care of the 'what do you do?' questions. Plus she was proud of her career. "Yep, one and only. Girl fucking power!" She laughed at herself. She really was proud of being on a women-only team, and not just because she liked women, it was just another way she could prove her herself worthy to be part of this world she hadn't grown up in. That had tried to reject her almost as soon as she had joined it.

Laughing, Stacey replied, "Yes, I'm pretty sure that public nudity is frowned upon. Not too mention that it's a little cold to be going around with that much skin exposed." Pausing to take another sip of her beer, she continued, "But I know what you mean. In the summer at least, the one on my calf is visible most of the time since I can get away with wearing shorts."

"That is brilliant! I really think it's awesome that you all get to compete and the sport isn't completely gender-biased." Though she'd never followed Quidditch, it might be time to start, expanding her sports-enthusiasm from just the Muggle ones. "When is your next game? I'll try and come by to listen, if I can get away from the parlor."

Gwenog grinned into her glass as she sipped her pint. "My publicity team tend to be pretty pissed off when I get naked at random. I mean I do it anyway, but I do attempt to make it not quite so public," she said. She would happily go around in pretty much no clothing whatever the weather if it was warm enough and people would care less, but as Stacey said, it tended to be frowned upon. "My other is across my belly and hip," she said. "Welsh Green. Seemed appropriate." She tapped the tattoo and knew it was shooting flames across her stomach. Sometimes she thought it tickled, but she knew that was only a reaction in her mind.

"Not completely biased, no, but I'm a Slytherin, they weren't exactly friendly to women or muggleborns on their team and I'm both. Good beater holds their own though and I proved myself in the end," she said and smirked. "But the pro teams are generally better, and I love that there's a team which is women only. Our next game is the twenty-eighth of February against Wigtown."

Not bothering to hold in her laughter, Stacey said, "No, I can't imagine they would approve of that!" Her eyes tracked the movement of the other woman's hand, figuring that was the location of the tattoo in question, as she said, "Very nice. In color, I'm guessing?"

"Wow," Stacey acknowledged with a small nod of her head. "Well, I would say you've certainly proven yourself if even I know your name!" She grinned, committing the date to memory before responding, "I'm Muggleborn as well, though my fellow 'Puffs didn't seem to particularly care about that."

Gwenog smirked and nodded. "Yes, complete with shooting flames when I tap it," she said. "Goes with the fiery temper thing. Or so my team mates tell me."

"Oh, half the public knows my name for the wrong reasons," she said, unconcerned. "What they should know is I'm an avenging goddess on a fucking broom, they seem to care that I'm confident in my own body and don't take shit from anyone," she said, sucked down a huge gulp of her pint and hitched herself onto a stool. "Oh, and the fucking girls thing. Some of them get held up on that," she added with a sneer.

"As for for the muggleborn thing, I started at Hogwarts when Voldemort wasn't dead the first time. Not a fun time to be the black, muggleborn whose first language is Welsh. The black thing is way less of an issue this side of the Leaky, but muggleborns in the dungeons were a bit of a no-no. Good job I knew how to fight. Purebloods tend not to expect being kicked in the nads."
