RP: Getting back on the broom
Who: Roger and Marcus
What: Quidditch practice
Where: Appleby Arrows training facility
When: Sunday, January 18, 2005 [backdated]
Rating: Probably SFW

Marcus had arrived at Appleby early, more nervous than he wanted to admit about seeing Roger. Although he had had a legitimate reason for leaving so abruptly, it didn't seem as though the management staff had seen fit to pass that information - and while he could appreciate the respect for his privacy, he couldn't help but feel that the situation he found himself in might have been avoided.

Of course, he probably could have - should have - sent his teammate, his friend an owl, or some other message to let the younger man know what was going on. But caring for his mother had been exhausting, and Marcus had barely had time to take care of himself, let alone consider the niceties of that sort of communication. By the time he'd thought of it, he had already been entrenched in the process of getting Phillipa instated in the hospital, and by that point it just seemed easier until he was settled back in his flat before reaching out.

Since it seemed that he'd gotten there before Roger, Marcus pulled himself onto a broom for the first time since he'd left London. An immediate sense of relief washed through him, instincts taking over as he kicked off from the ground, a veritable lifetime on a broom more than enough to compensate for the time he'd lost. He did a lap or two around the field before cutting skywards into a loop, grinning slightly to himself at the sense of vertigo it inspired. Flying always had been when he'd felt freest.

Roger lifted his eyebrows and put a hand gently on Marcus' hip. "Really," he asked, breaking out into a huge smile. "Well, isn't that interesting." Moving slowly so as not to startle the other man, or somehow cause him to rethink his startling - yet extremely agreeable - declaration, Roger gently moved his other hand around Marcus' waist and pulled them so their lips were nearly touching. "Would it be alright if I kissed you now," he asked, his voice husky with pent up desire.

Forcing himself to breathe, Marcus was beginning to worry that he'd just made a huge mistake, until Roger smiled. Returning it with a small, shy one of his own, he was surprised to find that his hands were trembling slightly, and that he had no idea what to do with them now that the other man was so close. Strangely enough, he didn't mind the intrusion of his personal space, but he figured that was probably due to who was doing the encroaching more than anything else.

Roger's hands were two warm, sold points of contact again him, and Marcus focused on them at the question, not entirely sure he wasn't dreaming. Not trusting his voice to answer verbally, he managed to give a small nod of his head, never looking away from Roger's face as he did so.
