Justin and Seamus: a date out
WHO: Justin and Seamus
WHEN: Friday night
WHERE: Out and about, then Justin's place.
WHAT: Justin and Seamus go out on a date because it's Friday and it's date night.
RATING: R?
STATUS:

Justin smiled as he met up with Seamus at the pub for their date night. He'd showered and changed into something much nicer than his mediwizard attire, mostly nice black dress trousers with a button up shirt, before meeting up with Seamus. Wayne was still home, but he knew for sure that he would probably be gone later, so they could end the evening in Justin's room with no problem.

After Wayne had moved in, he'd made sure that neither Wayne or him would feel like they weren't welcome in their own home so he'd gotten televisions for both his and Wayne's room. No awkward sharing of the living room tv or anything. It still didn't stop them from being in the living room, but it was a lot easier when it was sure that movie night would end up in sex.

"Did you have an idea of where you want to go? I am up for literally anything, so I'd rather leave it to you." He said as Seamus showed up.

He smiled at the sheepish smile from Seamus and he shook his head silently. Seamus didn't need Justin adding to everyone else telling him he should eat properly so he left it at that.

He tilted his head on the side as he opened the menu and closed it. "All-dressed with onions and bacon." Why had he bothered looking into the menu in the first place, he didn't know. It had been on his mind a little lately that should he get pizza, he would go for his usual. "Well, no I'm not working. And thankfully I'm with you. Adding pizza to that is just an insane amount of happiness that you add onto the pile, like a cherry on a sundae. Unnecessary, but so welcome." Being with Seamus was far more important than the actual pizza. Because he could buy a pizza any day of the week but he couldn't get time with Seamus just any time he wanted.

Seamus laughed, not taking Justin's words too seriously. Pizza was good and now Seamus was thinking about ice cream too... Maybe they'd have room for dessert. "I'm starving. Packing really takes it out of me, apparently." He'd tried not to talk about his upcoming holiday too much, not wanting to rub anyone's nose in it - but now that it was so close he couldn't really help it. Besides, most people had had more than a day and a half off for Christmas so Seamus did feel he'd sort of earned his five days away from the pub.

Justin smiled. He was really happy that Seamus was going to get a few days off in a row. "Well, it'll be good for you to go away for a little while. Relax a little." It would definitely be good for him. "I'm still considering going to France for a week or something. I'm getting complaints from my grandparents." His grandfather's health was shaky at best so he was probably going to go visit him at some point.

"You should do it," Seamus said, after the waitress had stopped by to take their orders. "I haven't even left yet and I'm sure it'll be amazing to not work for more than a couple of days in a row." He smiled. "You know I can never manage it while I'm here, even if I try." It was one of the perils of living in the same building he worked in, it made it impossible to get away from the sense that he ought to be doing something more important. Spain, though, was far enough away - and even if it wasn't Dean would absolutely stop Seamus if he caught him thinking about work.

"Yeah I see what you mean. I can hardly stay home for more than 2 days at a time before I get bothered into coming in anyway." He sighed and shook his head. "Grand-Père is having health problems. They want to see me considering I didn't go for Christmas." He'd worked as many shifts as he had been able to, going to the Fletchleys for New Year.

"We make quite a pair though, right? Can't even have a few days off if we stay in the country."

Seamus reached out a hand to give Justin's a quick squeeze. "I'm sorry," he said. Health problems were never easy, and especially not when it was someone so far away. The waitress interrupted them, bringing drinks and pizza and Seamus smiled, deciding it was probably safer to move onto more cheerful topics, at least while they were in public. Surely Justin knew that Seamus would be there if he needed him? Seamus hoped so, anyway.

"I think we make a whole generation," Seamus said lightly. "It feels like I don't know anyone who doesn't work too hard. It's no wonder so many of us are honorary Hufflepuffs."

Justin squeezed his hand back and smiled. "It's okay, he isn't going to die or anything, but they miss me. I-" He sighed and he shrugged. "I don't go nearly enough." It didn't help that they lived in a different country either.

He laughed softly. "Well, yeah. But I'm thinking it's because you guys are just too stubborn to realize when it's time to let go. Not quite the same thing." He was teasing Seamus openly and knew it was far more than just being stubborn. Seamus worked hard to keep the pub running and Justin was happy for him to have found something he liked to do.

"Can't blame them for that," Seamus teased. "I'd miss you too if I didn't get to see you." He surveyed his pizza for a moment then grabbed the pepper grinder from the middle of the table. "You should go. Where in France are they?" He'd not spent that much time in France in his 'gap year', but he'd seen Lyon and a bit of Provence. "I know it's not going to be much warmer than England out there now, but at least you can hope for some sun, right?"

Seeing as the pizza was presented sliced, Seamus felt no shame in picking up a piece and eating it with his hands. It was pizza, for Merlin's sake, and it wasn't as if he was going to make a mess of himself. Hopefully. "We are stubborn," he agreed. "But then so are you badgers. Susan, especially."

"Aww, you'd miss me?" He asked just as teasingly. "I feel flattered." That part was less teasing and a little more true though.

"They are in Paris most of the time because Grand-Père has a few businesses to manage, but they have a house in Montpellier. It's in the south, near the sea. Beautiful and very available to me." He smirked at Seamus, definitely getting the stupid idea of bringing him there for a few days perhaps. It wasn't far and they wouldn't have long to travel.

"Well, yeah, Susan is. And Wayne is too, in his own way." Which he meant to say that it was also a big part of pride. "And Ernie is stubborn big, big time.

Seamus smiled and shrugged. "Of course I would. We've been seeing a lot more of each other lately." That sounded dirty, but he didn't mean that. Since Justin's shifts had changed, they'd seen each other a lot more regularly than they'd ever been able to before. It was the first time in a long time that Seamus wasn't frustrated by his lack of love life. He still occasionally thought about the merits of having a boyfriend rather than a friend he slept with - but it was more of a background preoccupation, much less of a bother than when he was actively trying to date and meeting disaster at every turn. Things were comfortable with Justin and if comfortable wasn't very exciting, it was still pleasant.

"The only bit of Paris I've been to is Disneyland," Seamus admitted, "and I don't think that counts." He tilted his head a little as he looked at Justin. Despite the fact he was muggleborn, he couldn't quite imagine Justin in a theme park. He smirked. "Lucky you, a seaside property at your fingertips. I can't remember the last time I went to the beach." Of course, Seamus couldn't swim in the sea openly now as he'd once done, he wouldn't feel comfortable, and tanning had never really been an option before or since the scar.

Justin blushed slightly when Seamus told him he'd miss him. He bit on his lower lip and nodded. "I'm glad I've been able to shift things around to spend more time with you." Justin admitted shyly. He was definitely glad that they could see each other regularly, unlike it had been for a good while. Regular was good!

"Well, depends if it's all you did. You have to have seen a few landmarks before leaving, yeah?" Paris was quite a gorgeous place to visit.

"Well, maybe I could take you some time. It's very private because it's mostly a beach connected to beach houses and all. And there is a pool too." He knew Seamus was rather sensitive when it came to being naked because of his scar so he was trying to tempt him with the pool idea. "Just 2 days, it's really simple and quick to get there by magical transportation."

"Me too," Seamus said, a hint of uncertainty in his voice despite his smile. The way Justin had worded it had reminded him of something Susan had once said - that Justin had deliberately changed his shifts to see Seamus more often. He'd been positive at the time that it wasn't true. Now, though? He shook his head a little to clear it. Why should it matter? He liked spending more time with Justin, whether it was deliberate or a fortunate by-product should make no difference.

He frowned as he tried to remember whether they had seen any of Paris. "I think we just got the Eurostar and went straight to Disney," he said. "I don't remember seeing anything else. It was sort of grey and rainy and I think we just wanted to get to Portugal where there might be some sun. Probably a good thing, the four of us on a lads' holiday wouldn't have appreciated it." Now, though, Seamus was thinking he really ought to go sometime...

"Have you been to Susan's pool, yet?" Seamus asked. He appreciated Justin's offer, but if the beach were 'mostly' connected to beach houses then there was still a chance of being spotted - and by muggles, for whom there was really no explanation for the scar. He paused to finish a mouthful of pizza and then shrugged. "Pools are generally easier than beaches." But even with a pool, what if Justin's relatives were there?

"Yeah, I did!" Susan's new house was a beauty and Justin was really happy for her. "I love going to the pool. The beach is for getting some sun, with loads of sunscreen on." He chuckled and grabbed a fries. "But hey, my grandparents are rarely in Montpellier anymore and aunt Providence never goes, she has her own. I don't know why I don't go more often, they told me I could go any time I want. Mum told me they are considering selling it and buying in Italy instead. I might just buy it if I can get a loan from my father."

He tilted his head on the side and chewed on his lower lip. "I might just invite everybody for the weekend. There's a bar, a pool and a 6 foot fence." The idea was pleasing him more and more. Just with Seamus' comment he knew that Seamus wasn't interested in going there with him, which really disappointed him.

Yeah, pools were better than beaches for Seamus and he had tried to accommodate this, but his friend didn't seem to like the idea either way for some reason.

Seamus joined in Justin's chuckling. Unlike Dean, Justin was paler even than Seamus. "Suncream is a vital commodity," he agreed. "Or potions, though I never remember to order them in time." He did raise an eyebrow when Justin mentioned buying the place. Even though Seamus owned Finnigan's, with all his friends buying or thinking about buying houses he couldn't help but feel a little left behind, like they were all growing up and becoming adults without him. "Britain, France, Italy... You trying to conquer Europe one country at a time?" he teased.

"As long as I'm not expected to bartend the whole weekend," he said. "Though I guess it'd be a good excuse not to swim." Most - if not all - of the friends Justin would invite at least knew about Seamus's scar, but that didn't mean they'd all seen it or that Seamus was keen to show it off. His issue with the idea wasn't going away with Justin - though when would he find time? - but the focus on swimming. "You think I'm mature enough to appreciate Paris yet?" he asked, preferring to think about a holiday he might actually be comfortable taking.
