Who: Blaise and Genie
What: Taking time out for a steak
Where: Starting at the Leaky and ending at a restaurant in the country
When: Backdated to Monday evening
Rating: SFW at the moment

Blaise had owled ahead to reserve a table for the night. The restaurant he was taking Genie to was one his mother had become accustomed to sometime between husbands three and five. Blaise recalled going there a few times one summer and once for the holidays. Their menu was quite varied but he recalled one of his step fathers commenting as to how it had been the best steak he'd had in a while so he felt certain that the location would be an acceptable venue for the evening.

Seeing as the location had become like many others in their world and now catered to Muggles along with wizards he did his best to dress the part. While he couldn't quite get the shades of brown in his outfit to match directly, he decided they were workable and didn't look too far out of place together. Once he felt certain he was acceptable he popped into the apparition point just outside the Leaky.

Seeing as he arrived about ten minutes early he debated whether he ought to go in and wait for her or simply stand near the entrance and wait. As he pondered the options he continually pulled nervously at the bottom of his vest. It had been awhile since he'd actually taken a lass out on a date and hadn't simply picked her up in a pub and taken her somewhere later to shag and go.

Blaise was so used to apparating into various places that the sensation didn't bother him at all these days. Truth be told he preferred it to most other means of travel. At least they weren't using port key, it was the one he hated the most. Though he had to admit that the company and destination often made traveling regardless of method something he looked forward to or dreaded. This was definitely one of those moments he was looking forward to.

"That's because we have learned how to exude mystery," he said in his best dark, brooding voice. As he spoke took a step and began toward the front door. Within moments they were inside, speaking to the hosts and seated with all menus there for their perusing.

"Thank you for joining me for the evening," Blaise spoke genuinely as he looked over the menu. "Though I am curious what would you have typically had on your schedule for tonight?" If there was one thing Blaise knew it was that talking about himself was overrated in his book. He much preferred to learn about is companion.

"Mmm, mystery. I like a good mystery," she said, giving him a brilliant smile as she followed him inside. "Always so much to learn, to unwrap layer by layer." Okay, so she really couldn't help but flirt, but this was a date.

"No, thank you for inviting me. It's always nice to get out and about some." She'd been working a lot, and brewing, though it wasn't at a critical stage yet of her most important potion. "Well, it's MOnday, so this evening would have likely been hanging around the house with my mates and probably a bit of brewing, but nothing that couldn't be put off for a few days. I worked til after closing last night, and then did a shift this morning at this other place, so I was due some relaxation."

Once inside Blaise gave his name to the hostess. "It's a good thing then that I don't' have too many layers," he said turning his head just enough to see her reaction before stepping off in the direction in which they were being beckoned.

Blaise pulled her chair away from the table and waited for her to have a seat. As he did he listened to what she had to say and made note of the brewing she mentioned but decided that wasn't necessarily something they needed to discuss. Potions were a tricky topic and not something he wanted to discuss on a first date, if this was date. "So other than your young suitor, how many roommates do you have?" he inquired once they were seated.

Genie grinned at him, eyes glinting with amusement and a hint of desire. "Good to know," she said, voice warm.

Genie sat, thinking he was a gentleman. It wasn't very often she got to go out with a gentleman. The tips of her lips curved up a little more. "Well, there's enough of us we have two places, side-by-side. We're not all there at a time, some of us are in and out a lot. But there's six of them, and Owen and me besides." She loved her makeshift family and it showed in her voice and her face. "What about you? Any roommates to speak of?"

"Just want to ensure you have all the pertinent facts," he raised an eyebrow as he took a seat across from her.

Them he noted internally. He wondered why she didn't identify herself as a part of her group of roommates. Most people he knew that shared their home used collective wording when talking about their home. It seemed she had a bit more mystery about her than he did. "Other than the house elf that pops in occasionally to see if I need anything," he took a moment to open the menu. "Though most of the time it's just me. The elf stays at the manor."

"Oh, a house elf! Lucky you," she said, though she smiled to show she wasn't jealous. Not in a bad way anyway. "We always joke, if we had one it'd die in despair. Between the baby and Owen and Talia, and then the boys." She rolled her eyes comically. "It's one of those neverending battles, especially with all of us working whenever we can. Laundry, I am convinced, is the evil of all evils, right alongside dishes."

She flipped open the menu as well, eyes automatically drawn to the selection of steaks. Mmmm. Her mouth watered at the very thought. "I don't know if I could live alone," she mused as she looked. "I think I'd be terribly lonely, though I'm one of those people who just likes people a lot, I guess." She had been, even before her pack.

Blaise didn't consider himself lucky to have an elf. It was simply one of the few remnants left him after the dust settled. "I'm sure there is plenty to do with two houses to keep a simple elf entertained." As much as he knew he had to do alone in his own home he couldn't imagine everything getting done daily in a home with multiple individuals.

He too scanned the menu and internally decided what he would order when the their waitress returned. "It's not that bad," he said leaving the menu open as he placed it down. "You have solitude when you want it and can invite company whenever you don't." He then lifted his head so he could watch her. "Or you simply head to the park and entertain yourself with random strangers."

"Probably. I've not ever talked much with an elf, so I wouldn't know." Just in the kitchens of Hogwarts on occasion, really. And it had been so long since she'd been in the magical world like she'd grown up in. "But it'd be so convenient." She didn't like housework much, preferring outdoor work.

She laughed softly. "I just growl at my mates and tell them to sod off if I need alone time." But most of the time, she liked to have someone nearby -- another heartbeat. She met his gaze, lowering her menu as well. Her eyes were deep and glinted with gold flecks. She smiled. "Now random strangers are some of the best things there are," she agreed.

"I haven't spoken much with house elves either. The one we've always had has never really cared to engage in conversation." Blaise knew that sounded a bit conceited but it was the truth. He'd tried once to talk to the manor elf to no avail. It had been more frustrating to attempt to have a coherent moment than he could have ever imagined.

"You growl, do you?" he placed the menu down knowing what he would order when the waitress reappeared in a few moments. "Sounds more intriguing than off putting." He was certain that given the right circumstances she could be menacing but it was definitely more fun to picture a low throaty growl that could pull in him.

Genie smirked at him a little bit. "Depends on who I'm growling at," she said playfully. She never could help herself, but tonight she was out to enjoy herself no matter what happened. Or didn't happen. Not that she'd say no if something did. But so far she was having a good time. "I'm mean in a pillow fight, as well as in the kitchen, so they know to behave themselves if they don't want a pillow thrown or want food to be served." She grinned.
