RP: Kiddie Birthday-Time
Who: Alicia and OPEN to anyone this is relevant for
What: It’s the twins’ 6th birthday
Where: Alicia’s house on Sheffield Terrace, London
When: Sunday, December 14 2004 [Backdated]
Rating: Most likely SFW – it’s a kiddie birthday

The morning of December 14th in the Fawley household on Sheffield Terrace wasn’t all the different from Christmas morning, except – aside from the presents packed away in Alicia’s bedroom closet – there wasn’t a trace of Christmas to be seen. It was a promise Alicia had first made to herself, and later to the twins, that their birthday would never be combined with Christmas, in any way, and so it had become tradition that their Christmas decorations didn’t go up until the 15th.

Christmas or birthday, though, it didn’t matter, because at 6 o’clock in the morning, Isla and Liam both came storming in and climbed into bed with her. One day, Alicia thought to herself, she would be the one to wake them up and start their celebration with breakfast in bed. For now, she happily settled for being awoken far too early in the morning. Of course, that would probably be when they were teenagers and by then they would be away at school. That thought had her take a deep breath, because even just thinking about sending them off for that long was slightly frightening.

Breakfast, while delicious and fun, had still been a little rushed; Liam had been eager to get to trying out his new set of drums and Isla had been pleading her case convincingly for why they should go to the broommaker immediately so the custom broom could get made ASAP. On top of that, they had both been thrilled by the other one’s presents, so when Isla asked if she could try Liam’s drums, Liam had joined in on the idea of going to the broommaker this morning.

A few hours later, a bit before 2 pm, the drums had been tried, the soundproofing wards strengthened, Isla’s broom had been put into production and everything was ready for the guests to arrive. Despite her assurances that Melinda was more than welcome to stay – seeing as how her boyfriend was supposed to be there this afternoon – Alicia was slightly concerned to see and hear the notes of sadness in the other witch when she had thanked no and simply started arranging the Build Your Own Cupcake buffet.

It looked delicious, though. All of it. She colourful display of different cupcakes, small bowls of sprinkles, and pipes of frosting and on the table next to it were trays of the kids’ favourites of small sandwiches, mini pizzas, sushi and vegetables. All the way at the end was a bowl of Julian-approved treats for Wallace with a note letting the children know that they should ask Julian before treating the dog to anything.

Adrian apparated with the twins' gifts to just outside the house and rolled the scooters to the front door.

It was a little before 2 when he rang the doorbell and put a smile on - he'd been to the twins' party the year before but was a little nervous about attending as Alicia's boyfriend. The twins had been accepting about him being around more often and all of that, but it felt different to him somehow and he'd wanted to make their gifts special.

Hearing the doorbell, Alicia left the reception room – where Isla and Liam were already playing with the few guests who had shown up a few minutes earlier – to open the door. Seeing Adrian outside, she didn’t say or do anything but look at him with a soft smile on her lips. For all that today, the anniversary of her wedding, made her miss Daniel all the more, it made her heart swell when she realised that just seeing Adrian made her feel happy and warm inside without even a touch of guilt.

“Hi,” she said, her smile brighter as she glanced to the scooters he had brought. It would be a shame to just leave them like this, so without looking away, she pushed the door open behind. “Liam! Isla!” she called. “It’s for you!”

“Of course it is!” came Isla’s voice from inside, followed by Liam’s; “Can’t you just let them in?”

“No!” Alicia called back, smirking up at Adrian. “It’s out here, front and centre in half a minute, or I’m Adrian’ll be leaving again!”

The instant silence from inside let her know that she had succeeded, and she leaned up to brush a kiss to Adrian’s lips, though she would have loved to greet him better. “They’ll be right out.”

Blaise arrived about a half hour after the party started. He didn't want to seem overly eager to arrive and was certain that the fact that he didn't have children could put up a red flag toward anyone who may be slightly protective of their own children. The last thing he needed was for someone to accuse him of creeping. Regardless, he had a doll for Isla and a flying plush owl for Liam.

Looking around he found a table where the gifts had been placed and added his to the pile. Afterward, he made his way to the cupcake table and immediately recognized Melinda's work. Every time he saw something else she catered he was certain she had outdone whatever he'd seen her do before. Taking the time to make his own cupcake, Blaise then took a drink which he couldn't help but chuckle out. This was honestly the first time since probably fifth year that he'd been at a party where he'd not been able to access something alcoholic.

Viktor arrived with Tsveta on time. He'd consulted her, of course, as well as asking Alicia in the journals when she'd first mentioned the party. He thought the gifts were appropriate -- a storybook with a bunch of Russian folklore and fairytales (appropriate material for a child his age, of course) and some sheet music for the piano for Liam; for Isla, a book on famous female Quidditch players (picked out completely by Tsveta, it was one of her favorites) and another on Russian royalty, though a child’s version without some of the more sordid details.

Tsveta was excited; she had very few friends near her age here so far, though it wasn’t unuual even from before, with their Quidditch lifestyle. Though she had often stayed with his mother, and there were plenty of Roma children to play with there.

“Happy birthday!” the girl chirped at the twins as they came in, and Viktor smiled and repeated the well wishes as well before heading to put the presents on the table where all the others seemed to be.
