The Greengrass-Malfoy wedding was still almost 6 months away, but the first consultation would be in two days. Every wedding she did was important, a way to get her name and skills showcased, but this? This would be huge, most likely the biggest she had done until now and the extensive guest list, as Ms. Greengrass had called it, was bound to include some very influential people. This had to be perfect, though not just because of the influence it could have on her business, but because Astoria Greengrass had always provided the best service and assistance when Melinda had visited Twillfit & Tattings.

So after the last customer of the day had left and they had cleared the front for the cleaning witch to clean, Melinda had retreated to the kitchen in the back to prepare her own little binder of ideas and inspiration as a to-do list of what she needed to have prepared for Saturday afternoon. That of course, also had the added bonus of keeping her busy until Oliver showed up. The thought of seeing Oliver again, and not just as a customer, had her smiling to herself. Cho had prodded and hinted at knowing, trying to get Melinda to tell, but though she had never thought twice about telling Cho anything, she hadn’t this time. Not because it was a secret or because it was sordid or embarrassing. No, the kiss on top of the London Eye and falling asleep cuddled up with Oliver while watching the sun rise and waking up tucked into bed hours later was her memory and that memory had been a birthday present from Oliver.

Humming to herself, she set the butter creams to whipping and started tasting each of the mousses to make sure that they were just right.

As Oliver took care of ordering the food, Melinda went to her bathroom and made quick work of divesting of her chef’s coat. She had no objections, what so ever, to playing and smearing with ganache or any of the tasty creams, crèmes and mousses she had available, she just liked it so much more when she wasn’t presented with an accidentally unfortunate smear. Using her wand, she cast a quick spell on the simple check dress – that had become her work uniform instead of the chef’s trousers – making sure that that one wasn’t hiding any unwanted surprises. A quick touch up of her make-up followed by removing bobby pins and her hair band, and she could shake her hair loose, leaving it down for the evening. For a brief moment she reconsidered her decision to not change out of the check dress, but pushed that thought aside. It was a simple dress, and yes, she had several of it, but tonight was casual and she did like the fit of it, so it stayed.

Oliver’s voice reached her just as she was running her fingers through her hair and had her stop for a moment as she chuckled. “You know…” she started to call back, then thought better of it and instead went back to the dining room, leaving her bare feet as they were. “You know you’d have me camped out at your place if you did that,” she smiled at him and went to join him on the sofa. It felt almost natural just slipping under his arm and making herself comfortable against him. “And I’d be less than thrilled with all the rain and the wind, so I’d probably end up a right sour puss who’s angry with everyone.” She smiled up at him, still happy to hear that he apparently liked the rooftop as much as she did. “Or you could just leave the rooftop where it is, keep me smiling and make my mood even better by visiting it here?”

Oliver looked up at the sound of her voice and her padding feet, letting his eyes quickly take her in out of her chef's robes. "Adorable," he said, and meant it, since it was the first thought that went to his head on seeing her in her little dress. Simple, yes, but Melinda didn't need to wear anything fancy or low cut to catch his attention. She caught his attention with her words first, after all.

He settled on the couch with her next to him, a stray hand playing with her hair as she talked about him stealing her rooftop garden. Oliver let out a comically exaggerated sigh and shrugged, the affect pulling her closer to him. "I SUPPOSE I can deal with visits. But you're welcome to visit my flat anyway, even though I'm afraid yours is much nicer. I don't really go in much for decorating." Or furniture, he had to admit. He hadn't even a frame for his bed, it lay on the floor. A couch and a tea table were all he had apart from a telly that sat on wood blocks and that he powered through a series of machinations that were likely not legal. His sister rigged it up, clever girl that she was. She could teach Muggle Studies, that one.

"Maybe you just want me to visit you more? Anyway," he said, taking up one of her loose hands to play casually with her fingers. "Tell me your favorite childhood memory."

Melinda chuckled contently when Oliver pulled her closer. “It wouldn’t be your flat I’d be there to visit,” she assured him. Yes, she had a nice flat and yes she liked to keep it neat and tidy, but that was just her and because the dining room doubled as conference room when she had consultations and tasting sessions with her customers. Of course, it did make her worry a bit on Oliver’s behalf, because the more she heard about his flat, the less she believed that it could be good for him to live in a place like that.

“I do want you to visit more,” she smiled, her eyes drawn to how easily her fingers just moved with his. “But I’d love to visit you more, too. My favourite childhood memory..?” Melinda drew her feet up and let her knees come to rest on Oliver’s thigh, her index finger gently tracing across the palm of his warm hand as she considered his request. “I was… I must have been four or five years old and it was in the middle of summer, I think. I know the sun was shining and it was warm so I didn’t have to wear shoes.” Thinking back had her pause, her smile turning fond at the memory. “We were at the cottage just outside Puddlemere, because mum was working on her cookbook and the kitchen there had just the look that was needed for the pictures, and dad was going through the greenhouse to get all the herbs that were ready gathered and take them back so they could be prepared for the Apothecary. There was a lawn between the cottage and the greenhouse, and when they were both done we had a picnic with the biscuit joconde imprimé mum had made and fresh cucumbers from the greenhouse. I was blowing soap bubbles,” she chuckled and briefly laced her fingers through Oliver’s, only to go back to the gentle, casual caress again. “I don’t remember if it was mum or dad, but one of them had a stick of Drooble’s Best Blowing Gum, and I thought that the bubbles filled with all those blue flowers were just about the prettiest thing I’d ever seen.” Melinda rested her head on Oliver’s shoulder and looked up at him. “Tell me what makes flying so special to you.”
