Justin and Tristan
WHO: Justin and Tristan
WHEN: Sunday Night, November 16th
WHERE: Wingbeat
WHAT: Justin isn't working and he can't sleep. So he goes out.
RATING: R
STATUS:

Since his dinner with Susan, things had been going downhill for him, even worse than that week h'd spent working at the Janus Thickey ward and starting Battlescars at the same time. He knew that he was in a messy situation between Seamus and Wayne and none of it was simple. It would take time to solve and get in order, but until then he found his flat way too quiet for his taste that night. Sighing, he sat at the bar, at Wingbeat, a drink in front of him. He wasn't going to have much more than that glass of red wine, but it still beat having a cup of tea alone at home.

His finger trailed around the edge and he smiled. It was not too busy in there, just enough that he felt comfortable.

Tristan laughed lightheartedly, already started to feel the affects of the drink, just a little bit. Or maybe it was the placebo effect. One of those things. He refrained from taking another sip, even if part of him wanted to just to keep himself from sitting too still.

"That's why I've got plans to nurse this for awhile," he said with a nod to his glass of purple liquid. "Otherwise, I think... Well, I don't know what would happen to me, which is rather scary." But he smiled despite that. "Could be face down, arse up in the gutter with what I'd assume would be the worst hangover imaginable. Though," he took a small sip, "I suppose it could be face down, arse up in a very comfortable bed with an very attractive person. That... that wouldn't be so bad." Provided he could remember the night before, anyway. Otherwise... He took another small sip to keep from thinking about that.

Justin chuckled and sipped his wine, then smiled at the other man. "I like that second option better myself, but it's always better to know your limit before you end up in a situation where you've blacked out." He replied, shifting on his stool so he was properly facing the other man.

"Justin." He said introduced himself with a genuine smile, extending his hand for the bloke to shake. "Which is why I can't have what you're having, because then I can't Apparate on my own."

"Me, too," he said. And while he agreed about knowing your limit, Tristan hadn't had a lot of time to really explore his limit when it came to alcohol. But he was smart enough to know being out alone without someone who wasn't drinking likely wasn't the time to really put it to the test.

"Oh! Tristan," he said, turning to take hold of the other bloke's hand. He gave a firm but not too firm squeeze as he shook his hand, then let go to keep from awkwardly lingering. "Nice to meet you, Justin," he added with a smile. "What brings you here tonight? The music?" The DJ wasn't half bad. "The dancing? The ambiance and wine? Or something else?" Like company, he thought. Though he supposed, at least for himself, it was more to be alone without being alone, without being lonely or fearing he were having a heart attack as the silence pressed in from all sides. There was definitely no silence here.

Since he'd never been asked that sort of question before and that his friends all knew why he hanged around Finnigan's all the time, he couldn't help but blush. "Pretty much all of the above, except for dancing." He said then bit his lower lip. "I just needed to.. not be alone. I know it's going to sound funny, maybe even crazy, but sometimes I just need to not be home." Too quiet. And eventually thoughts creeped in and he was majorly uncomfortable with that happening.

He looked at his glass and picked it up. "And sometimes I meet new people and it's a good thing. Company is always welcome."

"We should dance. When we're done with our drinks, that is," he said, though there was no hint of a demand or an expected commitment to his words. He did think it might be fun to do a bit of dancing, especially as he was at a dance club, but he wasn't about to push anyone to do something they didn't want to do. He smiled to let Justin know he wasn't about to push, and not just because he thought he might need a bit more to drink before attempting to dance.

"But I don't think it's funny at all. We all probably have those moments, if for no other reason than claustrophobia and cabin fever." He took another sip of his drink, hoping his stomach could handle it, though he was starting not to entirely care so long as it didn't act up in public. "And new people can be good. To new people," he said, raising his glass with the intent to toast Justin and clink it against his.

Justin clinked his glass against Tristan's and smiled. "I'm not gonna say no to dancing, it's been a while." He said, nodding. "Though my moves are really not that good. I'm better at ballroom dancing." It had been taught to him at a very young age and he had liked it quite a lot.

"A lot of people don't understand when I say my flat's too quiet. Especially that I work in the emergency room at St.Mungo's, they figure I would like the quiet." He chuckled and shook his head, finishing his glass. "Only my friends understand," He paused ant looked at Tristan. "Well, usually." The other man seemed to understand enough.

Tristan set his glass down and shrugged a bit as he said, "Don't worry; I haven't dance in nearly ten years," and laughed. The last time he'd done any kind of dancing at been at the Yule Ball his fifth year. It was, he assumed, long overdue that he at least attempt to dance again sometime soon.

"Sometimes quiet isn't a good thing," he said. "Sometimes it's too loud." Sometimes it left nothing but thoughts to fill that silence, and, sometimes those thoughts were not comforting. But he didn't say that. "But sometimes it can be nice. Like this place." He looked around, giving the club another sweeping look before returning his gaze back to Justin. "It's nice."

Chuckling Justin waved for an other glass of wine. Yeah, it was borderline for him, but wine wasn't exactly the same as having two very strong drink. "Last time I danced was.." He thought about it and shivered visibly. "Last time my parents dragged me into one of their functions. Since I was the only single young man in there, I made every pretty single young woman dance." He sighed and shook his head. "I'm convince it was a plot to get me to meet a future wife, ah well." He rolled his eyes and drank at least half of his new glass of wine. That's pretty much how his family made him feel everytime he thought about them.

Justin looked around too and had to admit that even though Wingbeat was different than Finnigan's, it was in a good way. It also made him realize that change could be good. "I agree, it's really nice." The he brought his attention to Tristan and smiled. "It's different than Finnigan's and I like it."

Tristan's brows raised as he watched Justin down half his glass of wine. "Thirsty?" he said, his voice light. "Or were the girls that terrible at dancing?" He suspected, however, that it was more in reaction to thought of his parents possibly plotting to set him up with someone with the intent to marry her than anything else. That was one good thing about having a father who'd spent most of his son's life in jail and a mother who was... not always in her right mind; no one had ever tried to set him up with someone in the hopes of him getting married. He suspected being the younger of his parents' two surviving children also played a part in that.

As for Finnigan's, well, he'd only been in there a couple of times so far, though he didn't dislike it. "Do you go there frequently?" he asked, honestly curious.

Justin chuckled. "Nah, just.." He shook his head. "They danced real good, but it's the flirting despite my telling them that I wasn't interested that bothers me. I mean, how many time can you tell people you are gay before it sticks?" Though he knew the answer to that as most of the people in his parent's social circle pretty much thought it was a phase and that he'd grow out of it. "I suppose they figure I'll suddenly stop with the experimenting stuff and settle down." That last bit was sarcastic and bitter, a tone Justin rarely used unless he was getting tipsy.

He shrugged. "Ah well," He thought it was enough about his family, otherwise he'd get hives.

"I am there quite a lot. I work evenings and when I'm bored I just bring my knitting over there and sit amongst the few patrons there. And the food's good so it helps." And the owner was gorgeous, so it helped too. "And I know the owner."

"I don't know about how many times you can say it, but I bet if you showed it, that might get the message across." He shrugged a little, taking a sip of his drink. Despite nursing it, it was small enough that it was already half gone. "You know, show up with a handsome man on your arm next time you're forced into a position where you're meant to show up." And if that didn't work, well, at least it wasn't Tristan's family. He doubted his family would care too much if he showed up with a male or a female date to anything just so long as he wasn't practically shagging in front of them.

"Oh you do? How's the owner? Good guy?" Tristan couldn't recall the owner from his own history, which he took as either meaning he had never met him before or that he hadn't made enough of an impact on him to have learned his name to go with his face at school. "I've only been there a couple of times," he added by way of explanation as to why he asked such a question.

Justin giggled (a clear sign it would be his very last alcoholic beverage for the night) and nodded. "I might do that. I don't have a significant other at the moment, but I could always bring a friend of mine, if only to see Grandfather's face when he meets him." Justin's grandfather was a strict man with old beliefs and would probably not appreciate. At least he had the support of his cousins.

"Yeah, Seamus was in the same year than me at school, though in a different House. He's very handsome and really nice. A great mate." He said, nodding as he blushed slightly

Tristan's brows rose up, and an amused grin played on his lips, both at Justin talking about bringing a bloke along to meet his grandfather and at his reaction when discussion the owner of Finnigan's (and maybe at the giggle, too). "Is that blush because of the wine or the bloke?" he asked, both teasing and curious about it. Not that he was trying to embarrass Justin, but, well, once a Ravenclaw, always a Ravenclaw. Or that's what he blamed his curiosity on most of the time.

Justin's blushed darkened and he bit his lower lip. "Um.. both?" He said softly. "Well, it's nothing serious, but he's really really cute and he's smart and sweet." His time with Seamus was precious, but not exclusive. "But yeah, hes a friend." He said, looking pointedly at Tristan with a smile.

Slowly Tristan nodded, thinking he understood. Then again, the world had a certain... fuzziness around it that made him not one hundred percent certain he understood. He gave a quick shake of his head to the bar tender about not wanting another drink. That was one reason why he'd paid after he'd received his drink. He suspected if he did drink any more, he might not understand much of anything, and he knew enough still that he wanted to keep his wits about him.

"So if it isn't serious, if he's just really cute, and he's smart and sweet, saying you've got nice eyes isn't... overstepping and possibly making you uncomfortable." There was a slight question in his tone, because he didn't want to make anyone uncomfortable just then. And, all right, it was dark in the club, but from what he could tell with flashes of various lights and the proximity to Justin, he seemed to have nice eyes.

He leaned in just slightly and looked right into Tristan's eyes with a smile. "It's definitely not overstepping and it's really not making me uncomfortable." It had been a while since anyone he wasn't closed to had complimented him like that and he took it while it passed.

"Well, then," he said, leaning in slightly, "you've got nice eyes, Justin." Tristan smiled back. Briefly, just briefly, as he looked into his eyes, he thought about seeing what images were floating around the forefront of Justin's thoughts. However, he refrained, reminding himself that he'd been drinking, and he might not be able to. Or he might get caught. No sense doing something subtly if you're going to get caught, after all. Instead, he leaned back again and finished his drink.

Justin smiled and possibly even blushed a little. "Well, thank you, Tristan. You know, it's not the wine talking when I say I think you are cute. I just didn't know until now if it would be welcome." He'd come across many men who didn't like the advances from a gay man, so he was careful.

"Well," Tristan began, glancing around the club. He'd heard something about this place having some kind of strange acronym night that basically equated some kind of pride for not being just into the opposite gender, so he didn't feel paranoid about flirting -- though he didn't normally, even if he had been... burned in the past -- so much as using it as a means to gather his thoughts quickly. "Now that you know it isn't unwelcome," he leaned a little closer, dropping his voice just a tiny bit, "what are you going to do about it?" A flirty smile spread across his face, and he wondered if he actually had plans for this to go anywhere. Given his current slightly inebriated state, he wasn't sure. He wold, what was the phrase, wing it for now.

Justin smirked slightly. "Well, I guess it depends if you mind public displays of that nature." He said, cocking his head to the side. He was pretty sure that Wingbeat was open to queers every night and not just on Thursdays, but maybe Tristan wasn't open to that kind of displays though..

"I'd kiss you right here, right now, though. If you were open to it.. I wouldn't mind."

Tristan laughed, saying, "I can't say I'd be up for bending you across the bar and having my way with you." He was, after all, not his brother. Somehow, he wouldn't be surprised to find out Julian got banned somewhere for doing just that. "But, I'd be open to a kiss."
