Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry

[Private to Justin, Susan, Wayne, Zacharias, Dean, Seamus, and other close friends - exception, Theodore Nott]

Hey everyone, I'm sorry I've been out of the loop with so many of you in the last few weeks. I've been working on a personal project for work that's gotten complicated, but I won't bore any of you with the details.

I realized, however, there's a recent development that I haven't yet told everyone about, especially since you'll all know come Dean's show next week. I've started seeing someone. He's cute and sweet. But we've only just started seeing each other, and he asked me to come to the show with him, so we'll be there - and I hope everyone will keep from overloading him with attention, all right? He's very shy and I don't want you lot to scare him. This also means two things:

1 - I'll have to ask everyone to kindly knock before coming into my flat instead of just coming in like usual (not because of any shagging, it's not there yet, but, yeah)

2 - Um, just to warn you that his last name is Nott - yes, his dad was a DE, but he had nothing to do with it! I promise, please trust me. But I thought I'd warn you in case you get triggered accidentally.

How is that project going? Are you at all being safe?

If you don't want me to scare him, you should make sure we never properly meet. Not because I'm scary, but because I'm me. However, I don't know that I'd have many, if any, reservations about letting him get lost in the Department of Mysterious if he mistreated you.

Well, after we chatted last, I sort of took it on a new direction. The spell from Africa led me to a spell in Indonesia, and this one's been used on people before, so there might be a precedent. Less dangerous and all. And I should thank you for that - if you hadn't pointed out the flaws in the last one, I'd have never kept searching. Thing is, I introduced it to the head of the ward as a research/treatment option and it was turned down, he barely even listened to me at all. Waved me off and said to keep working like a good healer and come back when I've been around a few years. Welcome to hospital bureaucracy.

I don't think there's anything about you that would scare him. In fact, I think the two of you would have a few things in common, but maybe that's just wishful thinking talking. And don't you dare! He won't hurt me, if anything, I'd accidentally hurt him.

Good Maybe you can take that time to do more research. Bureaucracy is a pain, but this could be a sign to continue doing research on your own, let others be able to gather more information, so that if it does become an option for St. Mungo's, there's some more facts to it. Which is probably not something to say thank you about, but I do think the head of the ward shouldn't be such a prat about things. How are you supposed to grow as healers if you're not encouraged in some areas? I know it's a delicate position given the nature of healing, but healers still need to be allowed to grow in and with their work, too.

What's this Indonesian spell like?

Maybe it is. Maybe it isn't. What things do you think we have in common? And I'm not talking about him accidentally hurting you, though if you accidentally hurt him, I would hope he would realise it was not on purpose.

Thank mate. I can see both sides, it's just frustrating because I really think this is promising and the idea of not pursuing it makes me feel like I'm failing my patients. They deserve much better.

The Indonesian spell is actually pretty brilliant, and is quite different from the first spell I'd looked at. This one works almost like occlumency and allows one person to speak inside the other's mind through the use of a totem to connect them. I thought it could help get into the minds of patients so that they can be 'guided' back, or help heal them from the inside. So it's like occlumency in that there's a connection to the mind, but in practice it has the potential to be more in-depth - because occlumency has been tried with patients before and has so far been unsuccessful past a very surface level.

Well, he's more of a quiet type - I know, strange considering how out there I can be. He likes to read, likes music, has definite issues with his family... And I know what you meant, but I don't think he'd break my heart. I know everyone says that, but he's very honest and genuine.

You aren't failing them, especially if you take even more time to research and do everything you should do before attempting anything complicated that involves. I think the only way you could fail them is to not be there for them.

Do you mean Legilimency? Because there's this blo I know of this man In Bloody hell. Because that could be interesting. Dangerous, though. The human mind is a very complex place. Not to overstep, but I think if anyone tried that, they'd need an anchor of some kind to keep them, well, anchored. But it sounds really interesting and like it could have potential.

I don't think it's strange. I've read various books that end up including things about balancing elements in people. I realise that does not make me qualified to actually say anything on the matter of the quiet type with the out there type, but it makes sense to have those opposite elements to balance things out with both people.

Thanks, Zacharias.

That's it! I always mix the two up. And good point. I'll add it to my research and consider it for the future.

I like that. I try to keep balance in my life, things like work and friends and personal time. I guess it makes sense I'd have balance here too.
